Ah yes… the Obama phone. You know what that is, right? It’s the “free” phone that is given away in a federal program. The program has existed for some time, but Barack Obama seems to have gotten all the “credit” for it. Of course, you and I are the ones paying the bills for these phones. What’s worse than paying for someone else’s phone is the fact that Obama phone workers don’t even care what people are doing with them… even if they are selling the phones for drugs.

As reported by the Daily Mail, an undercover video has been put together showing that Obama phone workers exercise no standards at all when doling out these taxpayer funded phones. Investigators posed as ordinary citizens and told Obama phone workers that they would sell the phones for drugs or cash or even a Louis Vuitton purse, and the Obama phone workers never even hesitated.

Undercover video shot in May by a conservative activist shows two corporate distributors of free cell phones handing out the mobile devices to people who have promised to sell them for drug money, to buy shoes and handbags, to pay off their bills, or just for extra spending cash.

The ‘Obama phone,’ which made its ignominious YouTube debut outside a Cleveland, Ohio presidential campaign event last September, is a project of the Federal Communications Commission’s ‘Lifeline’ program, which makes land line and mobile phones available to Americans who meet low-income requirements.

Lifeline was a $2.19 billion program in 2012.

This program is so full of waste, I can’t even think straight. And… it’s just one more example of the corruption we are seeing in Washington as scandal after scandal emerges.

That makes the program a handout to both lower-income Americans and the companies that supply the phones. To many on the political right, the enterprise has been twisted beyond any semblance of its original purpose.

Like industry leader TracFone, which has received more than $1.5 billion – including $440 million in 2012 alone – to provide phones to 3.9 million recipients, StandUp and Terracom behave more like corporate titans than good Samaritans.

TracFone is owned by Mexican multibillionaire Carlos Slim Helu.

Stand Up Wireless’s parent company, Global Connection Inc. of America, has collected more than $38 million for its subsidized phones. The company itself is owned by Milestone Partners, a venture capital firm based in Radnor, Pennsylvania.

Since when are people “entitled” to a phone? They aren’t, but it just shows the mentality that is becoming more and more prevalent: People support the liberal agenda because liberals and government give them free stuff. They don’t have to work. They don’t have to buy a phone. Then government will even give them housing.

This is just nuts, and it takes me back to the “Obama phone lady” who started the whole thing. She loves Obama… and why? Because he’s “giving” her a “free” phone.

And this is the world we now live in. It’s just sad.
