It’s amazing how wrong the Democrats have always been, not just about the issues, but about our country and its people. Without the constant protection of a limited, compliant media, the malevolence of the organized left in this country has become starkly clear.

The latest Democratic fraud already ruining lives is the “migrant caravan” from the three countries originally targeted by the Obama administration — Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, with encouragement to migrate to the United States.

The New York Post reported on one example highlighting the direct involvement of the Obama administration. They reported a Salvadorian newspaper quoting Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson “as praising the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. ” ‘Almost all agree that a child who crossed the border illegally with their parents, or in search of a father or a better life, was not making an adult choice to break our laws and should be treated differently than adult violators of the law,’ he told the paper.”

As a former leftist community organizer, I know these events are not organic in nature, nor do they just coincidentally happen during a key election season. It takes a lot of organizing, planning and money to make an event like this happen. In fact, Vice President Mike Pence said Tuesday that the caravan is organized by leftist groups and noted the Honduran government reported Venezuela is paying for it.

And once again, like with the Justice Brett Kavanaugh debacle, the Democrats do not care whose lives are ruined if they think they’ll gain some political edge.

And just as with the Kavanaugh situation, the Democrats have misread the mood of the country. The American people understand that allowing chaos to prevail with immigration means that we are useless to the people who are genuine refugees trying to flee that very same chaos in their own countries.

Recently, a Harvard Harris poll determined exactly where Americans stand when it comes to our sovereignty and border security. The June 2018 survey found, “A majority of voters want immigration reform (73 percent) and secure borders (76 percent). Voters also want stricter enforcement of immigration laws (70 percent). Voters support prosecuting immigrants who cross the border illegally (53 percent) and sending these immigrants home (64 percent). A majority (55 percent) also stand against so-called ‘catch and release’ policies.”

There are, no doubt, good, sincere people in this caravan looking for a better way of life. But we also see classic organizing tactics meant for media consumption. Look at any news coverage of the extent of the caravan: You will see a majority of young males. Women and children are moved to the front for the benefit of the cameras of international news media.

Moreover, a journalist from Univision has delivered the first report finding Bangladeshis in the caravan.

“A Spanish language reporter who has spent weeks embedded with the migrant caravan said in a Friday report that people from Bangladesh had joined the mass of people trying to cross from Guatemala into Mexico/ … ‘Yesterday when we were traveling through Guatemala, we noticed people from El Salvador and even people from Bangladesh,’ [the Univision reporter said.] ‘Can you imagine what they had to do to get here? They infiltrated themselves in this caravan and tried to cross with the crowd. That would have benefited them greatly,’ ” the Daily Caller reported.

The news magazine also noted, “Bangladesh has one of the largest populations of Muslims in the world. Its 141 million Muslims is more than the combined populations of Iran, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.”

Sara Carter, an investigative journalist and Fox News contributor, traveled to the Mexico-Guatemala border to cover the caravan. She reported that Guatemalan intelligence discovered people from India, Bangladesh and Africa embedded with South Americans and Central Americans. Ms. Carter also reported on encountering a number of MS-13 gang members as well.

It is worth noting the legacy media is describing this caravan uniformly as consisting exclusively of the poor and downtrodden, seeking a better life. Many fit that description, but strangely missing from the journalistic accounts is any curiosity about how this began, who is organizing it and where the money is coming from.

Make no mistake: This is also an effort to distract the American people from President Trump’s success. The economic revival is historic and extraordinary. And despite former President Barack Obama’s ostensible and embarrassing “I Built That” tour, insisting he’s responsible for the economic boom, Americans disagree. In May, a CBS poll found two-thirds of Americans credit Mr. Trump and his policies for the economic renaissance.

Independent Women’s Voice, the organization of which I am president, has established a new website called BetterOffNow.com, gathering in one place the details of the extraordinary economic boom delivered by Mr. Trump.

As reported on the website, the facts are these: “The female unemployment rate is at a 50-year low of 3.9 percent. There are an estimated 11.6 million women-owned businesses, an increase of 2.8 percent. … The unemployment rate for black Americans is the lowest it’s ever been. The employment gap between black and white workers is also narrowing. … The Hispanic/Latino unemployment rate is the lowest on record. The small business optimism index is at record highs. … On top of that, 1/3 of business owners report raising wages in the last year.”

The economic facts are astounding, and it’s a shame that accomplishments like these, which help all Americans and immigrants alike, are so threatening to some. But the impact is undeniable, explaining why desperate Democrats are willing to do unthinkable things to distract you from the remarkable success we’re enjoying in this country, and to harm the people making America great again.
