The chaos has not even begun to subside from the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado, and already the media and leftwing radicals are trying to place blame on conservatives. It’s absolutely disgusting as reports have come out trying to blame Rush Limbaugh, conservatives, and even the Tea Party movement for the actions of one very twisted and evil individual.
First… here’s a little background, and please keep in mind that this story is developing every moment. As reported by Fox News, “Police and FBI are questioning the suspected gunman in a shooting early Friday at a crowded midnight screening of the new Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises,” in Aurora, Colo., that left 12 people dead and at least 50 wounded — the deadliest U.S. shooting since the Fort Hood massacre in 2009.”
The suspect, identified by federal law enforcement officials as James Holmes, 24, is in police custody. Police said Holmes’ apartment is booby trapped, leading authorities to evacuate five surrounding buildings. Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said bomb technicians are determining how to disarm flammable or explosive material in the third-floor apartment. He says police could be there some time.
Oates says pictures from inside the apartment are fairly disturbing and the devices look to be sophisticated. FBI agents and police used a hook and ladder fire truck and put a camera at the end of 12-foot pole inside Holmes’ apartment, which is about four miles from the theater.
KUSA-TV reports that Holmes kicked down an emergency door at the theater, threw in some type of a smoke bomb and began shooting when moviegoers started to run. The bodies of the 10 people who died at the theater remain at the scene early Friday while police continue to investigate, the Denver Post reports. Sources told Fox News that at least 3 military service members from Buckley Air Force Base were among those injured.
It’s a very sad situation. I feel so badly for all the victims and families involved. But what I can’t understand is why leftwing nut jobs insist on trying to assess blame or associations when they have absolutely no facts. Why can’t this person — in this case James Holmes — just be a psycho? Why does the left insist on trying to make him a rightwing psycho?
As reported on HotAir.com, leftwing tweeters began going after Limbaugh regarding statements he made regarding the new Batman movie:
Rush’s statement does not leave room for the kind of accusations these Twitter users are making. While a few no-name people accusing Rush of being responsible for this shooting is a big eye-roller, this could easily lead to the kind of widespread slander and libel leveled against Sarah Palin after the Giffords shooting. A quick Google search brings up a blog already talking about it, and a comment below a Huffington Post article discussing the alleged correlation.
Then, we have the completely despicable act by ABC News. With now proof at all, ABC News within hours of the story breaking, tried to link the alleged shooter to the Tea Party movement.
So… Brian Ross flat out states that ABC doesn’t know if the guy on the web site is the alleged shooter… but I guess it’s ok to report the “possible” link anyway, right? This is just outrageous!
The outrage quickly made it up the ABC News chain of command, as they came out with this retraction:
An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.
Before it was properly vetted? They “reported” on pure speculation, and they knew it was pure speculation. It’s just pathetic what some of these so-called news outlets have become.
