It’s not the Pennsylvania Avenue address where Hillary Clinton was hoping to finish off her political career, but FBI Headquarters — at 935 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, D.C., — a grotesque, brutalist eyesore, is a fitting mausoleum for her ugly and soon-to-be failed venture.
Just down the road from the magnificent White House. Oh, what could have been.
Hillary spent 3 1/2 hours talking to the FBI Saturday. It was supposed to be an exit interview, of sorts. The last step in a long, orchestrated attempt to convince Americans that the Obama administration was as thoroughly investigating the former secretary of state as it would you or me.
She was going to be home free heading into the convention.
But then the man whose uncontrollable impulses have sent ashtrays flying at him like clay pigeons for the past 40 years blew it all up.
Bill Clinton bounded down the tarmac Monday at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport upon hearing that AG Loretta Lynch had just landed there. Up the stairs he went, past bewildered and concerned FBI security, and flung himself into the airplane like Kramer into Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment.
He spent 30 minutes talking to her. The husband of a woman under the attorney general’s investigation — in fact a possible witness in the investigation — had a long, secretive conversation with that very attorney general. We were never meant to know about it.
ABC 15 Phoenix’s Christopher Sign had been tipped off about the meeting. Sign tells the Herald it was at least 10 minutes into a news conference the next day — and only after a reporter specifically asked about it — that Lynch admitted the meeting had even taken place.
Lynch told the reporter that the talk was mostly about grandchildren and golf. Haven’t we all sprinted across the runway to gab with the person criminally investigating our spouse about little Ricky’s latest T-ball game?
Please.
The U.S. attorney general is covering up shady communications for a man who’s married to a woman under investigation for covering up shady communications.
Whichever way this goes officially, Americans have just witnessed a giant corruption eruption. This time, it was every American who was meant to be fooled, not just her political opponents.
It won’t play well anywhere.
The establishment machine is reviled and it might as well be wearing an “I’m with Her” pin.
Bernie Sanders, time to buy a suit, because you are going to Philadelphia, Pa.
Pennsylvania, as in the street where Hillary’s fortunes just died.
