WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is temporarily blocking an order that would lift pandemic-era restrictions on asylum seekers. But it is leaving open the prospect of lifting the restrictions by Wednesday.
The order Monday by Chief Justice John Roberts comes as conservative states are pushing to keep limits on asylum seekers that were put in place during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. They are appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court in a last-ditch effort before the limits are set to expire.
In the one-page order, Roberts granted a stay pending further order and asked the government to respond by 5 p.m. Tuesday. That is just hours before the restrictions are slated to expire on Wednesday.

The blame for the immigration situation goes to the voters. It isn’t the job of the Supreme Court to overturn the voters decisions but if there is a constitutional way to overturn I hope they do.
I have my doubts that they will. We all know that Title 42 is based on the pandemic. Is the pandemic over or is it not? Biden changes his answer to that question depending on how much today’s answer will help him.
The White House has a deadline to respond to Justice Roberts. I think it’s today. I’m not sure what happens if they don’t respond.
It seems like we are getting lessons in unprecedented constitutional law every day. Enough, already.
