By now, it is probably safe to say that there has been no president in history who has tried so assiduously and swiftly to smother freedom in the United States than Joe Biden. President Biden has relentlessly issued executive orders from the first day of his presidency, promoting radical environmental policies, open borders, and racial equity. Meanwhile, his Democratic-controlled Congress has moved forward legislation with $1.9 trillion in supposed COVID-19 relief legislation and is pushing a “For the People Act” that will codify voter fraud.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo) suggested that Biden was attempting to “govern by fiat,” telling “Fox & Friends” that he was acting like a dictator who doesn’t have to consult with anyone or require the support of a legislative branch. “I mean, killing energy jobs, killing the energy sector in the United States, which is essentially what he’s doing. Can you imagine how many good-paying American jobs that’s going to cost? And then you get the radical actions with women’s sports and across the board,” Hawley said.
President Biden is not only acting like a dictator. He is acting like a man who hates America. By canceling the Keystone XL pipeline without a minute of debate, President Biden destroyed thousands of jobs in the name of environmentalism just to appease an environmental lobby that is demanding radical change from the Biden administration. He is spending trillions of dollars on a fake COVID-19 recovery bill and wants to repeat that performance on a phony infrastructure bill. By dismantling former President Donald Trump’s border security measures and refusing to deport people, Biden has created a border crisis that continues to escalate even as he has continued to ignore the problem. The Democratic “For the People Act” is perhaps the most odious legislative pill and will ensure that voter fraud not only remains a question for future elections but a planned fact of life. Biden is determined to transform America into a different sort of country, a vastly different nation.
That became even more obvious on April 8th, when the President issued executive actions on gun control.
“AS PRESIDENT, JOE BIDEN WILL DEFEAT THE NRA AGAIN.”
Under the new slate of executive actions, the Biden administration wants the Department of Justice to end the sale of so-called “ghost guns” within 30 days: what are essentially homemade guns that are constructed from parts. They do not have serial numbers and are more difficult to track. The Justice Department will also have 60 days to move on stabilizing braces that enable a pistol to fire like a rifle, and to promulgate “red flag” legislation that would enable the friends and family of any potential threat to call that person out as being too dangerous to own a firearm. (Can you imagine the potential for abuse with this little law alone?)
“Well, first, the President understands their frustration, and he understands it as one of the few people in government whoever beat the NRA twice by leading the fight to pass the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban.” – White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki
In justifying these orders, President Biden remained consistent with his apparent pledge to rarely make any sense in explaining his policies or even sounding coherent. After announcing his executive orders, he said, “But no amendment-no amendment to the Constitution is absolute.” If you can interpret that bit of mangled logic, please offer your suggestions, but from my read, the President of the United States was trying to say that nothing in the Constitution is absolute. Which explains why he felt the need to pre-empt the push back he was sure to receive. “Nothing-nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment,” the President insisted. “These are phony arguments suggesting that these are Second Amendment rights at stake from what we’re talking about.” Biden even had the gall to suggest he wasn’t really advocating gun control per se, but was addressing “what is actually a public health crisis.”
Commenting on the President’s verbal gymnastics, Fox News host Mark Steyn quipped, “At least until they can rustle up a judge to rule that the Constitution is unconstitutional, which judicial decision should be coming any day now, probably from the Ninth Circuit.”
“Boy, I can’t wait to see the impact these moves have on child shootings in Chicago every weekend,” Steyn added.
But there’s more coming. On March 26th, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that President Biden is ready and willing to support more legislative action on gun control:
“Well, first, the President understands their frustration, and he understands it as one of the few people in government whoever beat the NRA twice by leading the fight to pass the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban. He understands it as a person who led the effort of President Obama’s request to strengthen gun measures after Sandy Hook and when that was voted down. Helped put in place 23 executive actions to combat gun violence.”
“You’ll see more executive action and that review is underway -and more efforts by him and the administration to move forward in the weeks ahead, whether that is on legislation; supporting efforts that are happening in states, which we have seen is very effective and impactful and largely due to the advocacy and activism of a lot of these groups.”
But this should hardly come as a surprise. After all, hasn’t Joe Biden already said that he has a gun control agenda, one that goes far beyond the spectral danger posed by “ghost” guns? In 2019, Biden told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in a moment of blissful candor that he was 100% behind the confiscation of assault rifles, or as the Democrats like to put it, “buyback,” Biden was effusive in his support, saying assault rifles “should be illegal. Period. Asked by Cooper if he was prepared to send his people to your door to confiscate your weapon, Biden responded, “Bingo! You’re right if you have an assault weapon.” He added that the Second Amendment doesn’t say the government can’t restrict what kind of weapons people can own: “You can’t buy a bazooka, you can’t have a flamethrower.”
While he was campaigning for the presidency, Biden issued a gun control plan that suggested it should be criminal to conduct private firearms sales and that every transaction should only occur through a licensed dealer. He also promised to get tough with those dealers, using the powers of the dreaded Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to essentially persecute retailers for making any errors in their transactions.
Maybe that’s why Biden has chosen such a winner to head the ATF. Chipman has made a career out of deriding gun owners; in an April 2020 interview with Cheddar, Chipman suggested that it was foolish for people to seek the protection of firearms during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in 2021 because they were “putting themselves and their families in danger.”
In that same interview, Chipman suggested that people being a gun were just like crazies waiting for the zombies to come for them and said maybe these people shouldn’t load their firearms because they might hurt somebody-maybe themselves. (In that same interview, he mused that gun owners aren’t that different from the gun guy portrayed in the Netflix series “Tiger King.”)
If this is the sort of individual that Joe Biden wants to lead the ATF, is he that far away from the President’s own thinking?
WE ARE FIRST RESPONDERS
But does America really have a gun problem-or does it have a crime problem?
“Gun control is entirely fraudulent.” – Tucker Carlson
Second Amendment advocate Colion Noir thinks it might be more related to crime. “We have over 300 million people in this country,” Noir notes, “and over 400 million guns. When you break those numbers down as far as homicides are concerned, we are looking somewhere around 10 to 11,000, and the vast majority of those are happening in very specific areas in this country that have the exact same problem. Yeah, so the gun control in this country is disingenuous.”
Noir claimed that this narrative is “being pushed by special interest groups behind the scenes. Like, there is an out and out gun control lobby that no one ever wants to talk about.” He said people might acknowledge all liberal lobbies “but they never talk about the anti-gun lobbies, the big money that is behind all of this that is pushing this, it’s getting a lot of these politicians into power to push their agenda.”
Noir also said that gun control will never keep America safe. He said that if “someone kicks in my door in the middle of night, you are not going to be there to do something about it. I’m going to have to do something about it along with the rest of Americans in this country. We are first responders.”
Last week, Fox News host Tucker Carlson framed the issue in these terms: “Gun control is entirely fraudulent. The Democratic Party claims that guns cause violence. That’s the core claim, and it is a lie. It’s provably untrue. The places in this country that have the most guns and the loosest controls on those guns also have the least gun violence and the fewest killings. That’s the bottom line. You could look it up; the statistics are available to anyone.”
“Anyone who tries to restrict your legally owned firearms is not trying to make America safer. The point is to disarm you and strip you of your autonomy, your power, your right to self-defense. Gun control is not about guns. Gun control is about who controls America. Is it the population, as in a democracy, or does all control go to a small group of authoritarians, as in an oligarchy? Those are the stakes in the gun control debate. It’s not about guns, it’s about who runs the country.”
And that’s just the point. Does anyone really believe that strict gun control laws are ever going to deprive criminals of their firearms or stifle crime? Chicago continues to be a shooting gallery, despite having strict local gun control laws. City Mayor Lori Lightfoot insists that tougher federal gun control would somehow make this problem evaporate. But the gangs that rule many of the streets in Chicago are undoubtedly laughing the hardest every time she makes this assertion.
If a liberal city like Chicago with tight municipal gun control laws can be notorious for its homicides, it’s a clear indication that firearms legislation may keep guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens, but it doesn’t deter criminals from obtaining them. This remains a resounding lesson that liberals never seem to learn
IN DEFENSE OF LIBERTY
Why should Americans cling to their Second Amendment rights? And are those that do so a special brand of psychopaths who just don’t appreciate that their obsession with guns continues to produce shooting sprees at American schools and blood on the streets? Are Second Amendment advocates a special kind of crazy-as most liberals believe-individuals who are clearly delusionary about the need to own guns and treat firearms like a weird fetish that provides some perverse pleasure?
Gun rights have always invariably been about democratic rights.
America is unique in the world as the only stable democracy that constitutionally protects its citizens’ right to own firearms. It is next to impossible to own a handgun in Canada, and not any easier to buy a hunting rifle. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made gun control a central policy plank of his Liberal government, wanting to crack down even further on gun ownership, but that has hardly been innovation on the Canadian political scene. The situation is entirely the same in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe.
But Americans have always cherished their right to bear arms. It is what ensures a body politic that is prepared to defend itself and to defend its democratic rights.
That is the philosophical basis for the Second Amendment. Americans secured their liberty, established a free and democratic government, and removed their British masters because citizens were prepared to grab a musket and defend their rights and stand on their liberty. Gun rights have always invariably been about democratic rights. Americans will not tolerate a government usurping their liberty and exercising authoritarians control. God help any government that tries to do so because it doesn’t face a helpless population bereft of firearms. (There was virtually no resistance in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union because both governments ensured that strict gun control removed the possibility of self-defense.)
But there is an added incentive today. With a radical Democratic administration pushing its agenda on America, we are bound to see more calls to defund the police. Yes, Biden has pushed back rhetorically, but as he rolls out extreme policy after extreme policy, is there any reason to really believe that he won’t accommodate the far left on this issue as well?
As Colion Noir put it, Americans are being forced to be their own “first responders.” Is the Biden government going to take away guns from the gangs? Is it really serious about doing so, or is it more interested in sending the firearms Gestapo to your door and “buying back” your assault rifle? If you’re a law-abiding citizen who never thinks about knocking over the local liquor store or participating in a drive-by shooting, you’re the easy target, and the liberals will cheer with sheer exaltation every time a conservative gun owner is humiliated by the ATF or whomever else Biden sends to your door.
But that will just leave us defenseless against a growing sub-class of criminals who have been both empowered and exonerated by the lawlessness in the streets the Democratic leadership didn’t condemn then, and won’t excoriate now. Riots, looting, and the attendant loss of life have become commonplace occurrences in America-or at least the America that exists in its big cities.
Allow President Biden to chip away at your Second Amendment rights, and he will eventually demolish the entire structure. It really doesn’t matter whether this is the same Joe Biden who was a relatively moderate and innocuous senator for decades. He’s not that anymore. President Biden wants to change America, and he is working towards that every day. By telling you that the Second Amendment is not absolute, he’s telling you that your freedom is not absolute, and that, in effect, anything goes. Biden is attempting to put another nail in America’s freedom, and Americans must say no. Before it is too late.
