As President Obama urges “calm,” American journalists are facing increased threats as rioters in Cairo become more and more aggressive. Oh, by the way, the State Department just “condemned” the violence. I guess that’s something, right?

Luckily for all Americans, the White House has stepped in and issued a statement. As noted in USA Today, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the targeting of reporters is “totally unacceptable.”
Gibbs went on to say, “The government of Egypt has to ensure that peaceful protests can take place.” Uh… guess what? They’re not. Now what happens? Oh, I forgot… Gibbs added, “We continue to call for restraint and not violence.”
Good thing he added that tidbit of leadership.
