The American people have had enough. They’ve had enough of Barack Obama picking and choosing what will be closed during the so-called “government shutdown” (such as the World War II Memorial) and what will remain open (such as the Congressional Golf Club). Over the weekend, thousands of veterans and others marched to demand that their monuments remain open to the public.

As reported by WTOP.com, Sunday morning saw a crowd of thousands descend onto the National Mall to protest the closing of the WWII Memorial.

Thousands of people converged on the World War II Memorial on the National Mall on Sunday morning and tore down the barricades blocking it off, protesting the closure of the memorial during the federal government shutdown.

Beginning at about 9:30 a.m., Sens. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, as well as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, were among the luminaries in a crowd that chanted “Tear down these walls!” and sang “God Bless America” as well as other patriotic songs as they entered the memorial, which has been closed since the government shutdown that began Oct. 1.

Cruz said that President Obama was using veterans as political pawns in the shutdown. Lee shouted, “The sons and daughters of the United States of America are meant to live in liberty.”

The protesters had a special gift for Obama following the demonstration at the WWII Memorial. As Breitbart.com reports, the barricades used to keep people out of the Memorial were picked up and carried over to the White House.

On Sunday, protesting the barricades placed at memorials around Washington D.C. by the vindictive Obama administration, veterans removed the barricades and proceeded to take them to the White House. Multiple people tweeted photos of the barricades being removed and taken for presidential inspection.

As more protesters arrived at the White House, so did more police officers.

What happens next? If Obama were wise, he’d see that the American people are on to his strategy of closures that result in public pain and Republican blame. So far, he has shown that he is unwilling to negotiate and that the will of the American people is completely irrelevant. The problem for him is that the American people are starting to wake up.
