Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) is still on the fence about Build Back Better.
The moderate holdout broke her silence on Friday about President Biden’s $1.8 trillion social spending plan, saying only that she is still negotiating with fellow Democrats.
In a rare TV interview, the usually tight-lipped Sinema declined to back the bill, which the House of Representatives passed last month.
“We’re crafting legislation that truly represents the interests they want to achieve and that creates a benefit and helps people all across Arizona and the country,” Sinema said to CNN. “So that’s what I’m working on right now.”
Sinema also refused to say exactly what provisions she wants cut or modified, a practice that has infuriated progressives looking to win passage of the bill.
“When you negotiate directly in good faith with your colleagues, and don’t negotiate publicly, you’re actually much more likely to find that agreement,” Sinema said.
Biden has vowed to win over all 50 Democratic senators and Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) says he wants it done before Christmas.
Sinema and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) are the two high-profile Democratic holdouts in the evenly divided Senate on Build Back Better. Democrats need all their senators to support the bill to enable it to pass with Vice President Kamala Harris holding a decisive tie-breaking vote.
Manchin has also said he is not ready to vote in favor of the bill, but he has been much more open than Sinema about his specific objections.
Even though the pair are often lumped together as moderate holdouts, they have different and sometimes conflicting issues with the bill as it stands.
Manchin wants a popular family leave proposal stripped out of the bill, but Sinema supports that plank. The coal-state stalwart objects to some climate change provisions, while Sinema succeeded in watering down a proposal to lower prescription drug costs.
Both Sinema and Manchin say they are concerned about the bill’s potential impact on inflation, even though economists say it would actually help keep a lid on prices.
“When I’m home in Arizona, I hear number one about the price of gas and number two about the price of food,” she said. “People are very concerned about the amount they’re spending just to survive every day.”

In other words, Sinema will be a “good clone” / soldier and follow the company / Democrat communist line! ‘We are the borg, resistance is futile”.
Yea, but Jean-Luc Picard (We the People) destroyed the Borg.
So “resistance is futile” was a lie.
Just like the treasonous Democrat Party political agendas and propaganda
are all LIES.
LETS Hope this time, she HOLDS TO HER WORD.
Did Sen. Krsten Sinema learn how to play the game of being a Hold- Out from Joe Manchin to just gain power over the democrat party elite vote, She says to the democrat elite, ” I can be had, but I’m not easy.. ” Quote Author Unknown
More than likely..
Like most women who have seen Joe’s package, they found it much wanting for prowess and potency, which usually comes up short when it comes to getting the job done. With all of Joe’s 50 years’ experience in government spending of American human financial life force, you would think he could finally get it right, but he is too consumed with the left, which when the Leftist wingnuts take charge, nothing is ever left to do their named bills of disguised intentions say they are designed for,,, way too much spending on social control,,, very little actual infrastructure.
“When you negotiate directly in good faith with your colleagues, and don’t negotiate publicly, you’re actually much more likely to find that agreement,”,,,,no Sinema, When you negotiate in private, not publicly, the bad faith without real solutions soon gets empowered, not the good, and we all spend more money to correct the mistakes later than when just first doing it openly and honestly in the first place. Only people who think that only THEY have all the answers negotiate in private, behind the backs of THE PEOPLE. Time for the will of THE PEOPLE of Arizona to prevail over the will of the political Party of poopers who believe “family Leave” is when the concept of what a real family constitutes, leaves the American minds and hearts for more failed social experimentation. Real families don’t need government but SELF-govern.
You have to incompetent & stupid yourself if you actually believe there is anything positive that can be “negotiated” on Biden’s Build Back Stupid plan.
It is a total disaster for the federal budget & also for our economy, so the only sensible thing to do is completely scrap the entire plan.
And if you will maintain that stance, it would be greatly appreciated.
“…even though economists say it would actually help keep a lid on prices.”
Wait, what??? What economists are saying the Biden bill would “keep a lid on prices”? What universe are we living in that this quote could be included in this story? There is no “potential impact on inflation”. It is an absolute certainty. It seems that the average IQ of everyone in the media is in single digits. Either that or the media is completely and totally infected with miscreants who want to destroy the American republic.
