Guns will be banned during President Trump’s speech on Friday at the National Rifle Association’s annual summit.
This year, the summit is being held in Texas, which is an open-carry state.
Attendees will be prohibited from carrying guns during the address that Trump is set to deliver in Houston, just four days after the tragic Robb Elementary School shooting that left 19 kids and two teachers dead in Uvalde, Texas.
The NRA said the Secret Service made the decision about the ban, which also prevents attendees from bringing knives, laser pointers, pepper spray, toy guns and backpacks, Just the News reports. The Secret Service has the authority to prevent firearms from “entering sites visited by our protectees, including those located in open-carry states,” according to the agency.
Attendees will also be scanned by Secret Service agents with metal-detecting magnetometers before entering the venue.
The ban will take place despite Texas passing a law in 2021 that allows for adults in the state to have a handgun in public places without a permit.

The times that I saw Pres. Trump at the NRA Conventions, the same thing happened. “Standard Operating Procedure” for the Secret Service. I don’t like to be disarmed, but in some cases it is necessary.
