San Francisco police provided a very short live update a few minutes ago.
They gave the name of David DePape from Berkeley and not much more. They did say when the police got there the 2 men were both holding onto the hammer.

Updated: The husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Paul, has been assaulted with a hammer this morning in a San Francisco home invasion by an attacker who was shouting “Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?,” a law enforcement source tells Fox News.
“Early this morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi,” Pelosi spokesperson Drew Hammill said. “The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation.” Hammill added

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, was “violently assaulted” by an assailant who broke into their San Francisco home early Friday, and he is now in the hospital and expected to make a full recovery, her spokesman said.
Pelosi was not in the residence at the time. Spokesman Drew Hammill said the assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation.
“The Speaker and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time,” Hammill said in a statement.
Pelosi just returned to Washington this week from a security conference in Europe and is due to keynote an advocacy event Saturday evening with Vice President Kamala Harris.
While the circumstances of the attack are unclear, the incident raises additional questions about the safety of members of Congress and their families as threats to lawmakers are at an all-time high almost two years after the violent Capitol insurrection.
Members of Congress have received additional dollars for security at their homes, but some have pushed for more protection as people have showed up at their homes and as members have received an increasing amount of threatening communications.
Often at Pelosi’s side during formal events in Washington, Paul Pelosi is a wealthy investor who largely remains on the West Coast. They have five adult children and many grandchildren.
Earlier this year, Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence charges related to a May crash in California’s wine country and was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation.

I just don’t believe anything I hear anymore. Where are the pictures of the victim? Will Mr. Pelosi be retired to a basement for the next six months, kept in hiding? Because of patient confidentiality, no records will be made public and no real evidence will be made available for proof of the event. For right now this smells fishy, occurring at 2:00 am, Nancy is not at home, and just a little over a week before the elections.
And why did it take nancy, 13+ hrs, to even GET ON A FLIGHT to get out to ca to visit her hubby?
But the story keeps changing. First police , not social workers, said they were on the floor fighting over the hammer. Yesterday the police said he was unconscious on the floor in a pool of his own blood. Now he was beated Severely but not unconscious. I wonder what they will say tomorrow ??
