Being from New England I know Curt Schilling has said. I agree with most and disagree with some. Does that sound like somebody any of us knows? Or does it sound like everyone we know ( except our wives, of course ).
If what Jackson says is true, then the HOF has become the Hall of Infamy. If a player cannot be judged by the way he played the game and not for his politics, then cancer culture has taken a bite out of our national pastime. The warnings from Homeland Security about the dangers posed by white supremacists and others who subvert the human rights of others must be heeded. I certainly support Mr. Shillings’ constitutional rights to full freedom of speech, but support for Mr. Trump’s views that provide a degree of legitimacy to Proud Boys and others who clearly espouse taking back “our country,” are scary as heck to citizens who view the United States as being an inclusive homeland for all races, creeds, religions and places of national origin.

Ronniebeans, I can say forthrightly that many if not most of the people who were opposing ANTIFA in the streets of Virginia were not chanting “Jews will not replace us” or carrying KKK or Nazi placards. They were simply Patriots trying to protect what most of us here would protect. And indeed Trump was correct in not demeaning them failing to say there were “fine people” there. My concern about his remarks were more about his qualifying by saying there were fine people on “both” sides of the issue. I don’t consider any member of ANTIFA to be in any way “fine”. Reggie Jackson is a fool, if he doesn’t understand what’s going on in today’s cancel culture society. He should think before he speaks, Curt Shilling never said anything racist to anyone – period. The whole controversy of adult men going into the ladies bathroom is and was absurd. He merely made a statement about transgender just using a men’s room as intended. If Reggie was an honest man, he’d come clean about how he really feels about grown men going to the same bathroom with potentially young girls. Schilling is a first ballot HOF pitcher all day long! The more Reggie talks, people are going to realize that he was the strikeout king in his era, and a career .260 hitter who mostly sat the bench while others played the game.
I am a conservative. I believe Schilling deserves to be in the HOF. I also believe Curt said some dumb things he should not have said. I neither hate nor love the Yankees. Having said that, I don’t have a problem with what Reggie Jackson said.
Reggie essentially said that he believes Schilling’s performance solidly warranted HOF induction but Schilling messed up by making hateful comments. Whether those comments were truly hateful or just hurtful/inappropriate can be debated. Reggie supports freedom of speech but is suggesting hateful comments are wrong whether they come from white supremacists, Black Panthers or anti Semitics. He is basically saying “let’s tone down all the hate talk, regardless of which direction it is coming from or sent to”! That is how I read his comments. If my interpretation is close to accurate, bravo Reggie!

Jackson’s does not accurately describe what Schilling has said. Jackson says that what Schilling says will keep him out of the Hall of Fame. This thinking is liable to result in purges from the Hall of Fame. In the past personal likes and dislikes have influenced the votes. What Jackson now says could one day be used against him, according to his own view of opinion being a factor.
They’re already “purging” the Hall Of Fame. They’re rewriting bios and histories of HOF members to include racist remarks and actions and condemning those who weren’t supportive of the Negro Leagues and their players, even back into the 1920’s.
