The fact that the world has been hit by a series of high-profile terrorist attacks doesn’t seem to have fazed Barack Obama at all. He addressed the nation recently and told the American people that he’s doing the same old stuff that he was already doing. Now, new agencies have learned that Obama’s policies are actually hindering agents from identifying potential terrorists before they come into the country. Is anyone actually surprised?
As Fox News reports, “a secret U.S. policy that prohibits immigration officials from reviewing the social media messages of foreign citizens applying for U.S. visas was reportedly kept in place over fears of a civil liberties backlash and ‘bad public relations.'”
That’s right. The Obama administration was afraid of bad PR! Maybe that’s why he can’t even say “radical Islamic terrorism.” He and his administration are more concerned about being politically correct toward Muslim extremists than they are keeping Americans safe.
ABC News reports that “officials by policy generally do not check social media postings of applicants due to civil liberties concerns and therefore would not have seen purported evidence of Tashfeen Malik’s radicalization online.”
“During that time period immigration officials were not allowed to use or review social media as part of the screening process,” John Cohen, a former acting under-secretary at DHS for intelligence and analysis. Cohen is now a national security consultant for ABC News.
One current and one former senior counter-terrorism official confirmed Cohen’s account about the refusal of DHS to change its policy about the public social media posts of all foreign applicants.
Keeping America safe is all about priorities. Is it the first priority of Barack Obama and his team to put Americans’ safety first? In example after example, we get a clear message that the answer is “No.” Obama lectures us to not make blanket statements about all Muslims. No one is doing that. Obama says gun control is the answer. We know it’s not. Obama says “climate change” causes terrorism. Tell that to the San Bernardino victims!
