If you haven’t been following the gun debate in Colorado, you should. The state is becoming a poster child of liberal policies run amok. This time, another Democrat legislator has stepped forward with comments that show the true nature of the left wing agenda: if there are more victims, there will be more need for government.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the gun debate in the Colorado legislature. A couple of Colorado Democrats made news with their comments that women are basically too stupid to use firearms correctly.

These comments and others lead rape victim Amanda Collins to speak out against the push to prohibit concealed carry laws from applying on college campuses. Collins was raped while on a college campus where she was NOT allowed to carry her firearm.

Here’s her interview:

Now, as Fox News reports, another Democrat has put her foot in her mouth all in the name of promoting more government and turning more women into victims.

A Democratic lawmaker in Colorado is drawing criticism after telling a rape victim that the attack against her would have been worse if she had been carrying a gun at the time. State Sen. Evie Hudak told Amanda Collins “statistics are not on your side even if you had had a gun.” Hudak argued at a hearing Monday that if Collins was carrying a gun, the much larger male attacker could have taken it from her and shot her.

Collins responded by saying, “Respectfully Senator, you weren’t there. Had I been carrying [a concealed weapon], he wouldn’t have known that I had my weapon. I know without a doubt in my mind, at some point I would have been able to stop my attack by using my firearm.”

Here is what Amanda Collins had to say in response:

It’s just insane that these left wingers are ok with criminals being armed (since we all know they will be), but have seizures at the thought of citizens fighting back to defend themselves. The more we have control of our own lives, the less we need government “protecting” us (as they would have you believe). And that’s exactly what they DON’T want.
