This is why President Donald Trump’s base will not abandon him, no matter how many calls to impeach rattle the mainstream media — no matter how many Russia collusion and obstruction allegations surface: The bold commander-in-chief is taking an “America First” message to Davos.
Gotta love it.
He’s going to stand tall in the hall of globalists and purse-pinching socialists and tea-drinking elitists and tell them, amid the waves of hatred emanating off foreign powers who think foreign policy is all about conceding sovereignty, that his goal is to Make America Great Again.
That his whole policy plan is still, as it was on the campaign trail, concise enough to put on a baseball cap.
The best would be if he distributed MAGA caps while speaking.
The anti-Trumpers have already rallied.
“We believe that isolation won’t help us,” said German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Fox News reported. “We believe we need to cooperate, that protectionism is not the answer.”
Meanwhile, France’s Emmanuel Macron, pushing a share-the-wealth philosophy to his many elitist friends at Davos, issued this critical comment: “If we aren’t able to agree a standard of international cooperation, we will never convince the middle class, the working class, that globalization is good for them.”
Right. That’s ’cause the secret’s out — and guess what? The middle-class workers and families are aware: globalism kills jobs, destroys competitive pay scales, wreaks havoc with capitalism.
It’s not good for America.
Trump’s making that case — and for that, he’s stepped into a lion’s den. But in America, his supporters say: Go, Trump.
The America First message is what won him the White House. Standing by that message on the global scale will only solidify his fan base further in America. And after all, it’s Americans who vote for him — not Germans, not those in France, not those in Davos.
