As President Obama campaigns for the Democratic Party down to the bitter end, one stop in particular has conservatives shaking their heads in disbelief.

The president was talking recently with actress Gina Rodriguez on a YouTube channel aimed at young Hispanics. The topic of voting came up:

Rodriguez: “Many of the millennials, Dreamers, undocumented citizens – and I call them citizens because they contribute to this country – are fearful of voting. So if I vote, will Immigration know where I live? Will they come for my family and deport us?”

Obama: “Not true – and the reason is, first of all, when you vote, you are a citizen yourself. And there is not a situation where the voting rolls somehow are transferred over and people start investigating, etcetera. The sanctity of the vote is strictly confidential.”

Radio talk-show host Sandy Rios admits she was shocked when she heard the president of the United States encourage illegal immigrants to vote.

“Our president is a lawless president,” she offers, “and he’s encouraging – for his own purposes and his own selfishness – people who live here who aren’t documented, to do something that puts in jeopardy their future chance to be citizens of the United States,” she explains.

As Rios points out, under current law what the president is telling illegal immigrants to do is illegal.

“If a new sheriff comes to town and it’s not Hillary Clinton, the laws on the books say that if an illegal immigrant votes it is a felony,” she adds, “and they can lose any chance they ever thought about having American citizenship by doing that.”
