BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The suspect in the Colorado supermarket shootings bought a gun before the shooting at a local gun store after passing a background check, the store’s owner said Friday.
John Mark Eagleton, owner of Eagles Nest Armory in the Denver suburb of Arvada, said in a statement that his store was cooperating with authorities as they investigate the Monday shooting that killed 10 people, including a police officer.
Eagleton said the suspect in the shooting, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, passed a background check conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation before purchasing the firearm.
Authorities previously said Alissa, 21, purchased the AR-15 style gun used in the mass shooting on March 16, six days before Monday’s fatal shootings. Alissa is from Arvada.
“We are absolutely shocked by what happened and our hearts are broken for the victims and families that are left behind. Ensuring every sale that occurs at our shop is lawful, has always been and will always remain the highest priority for our business,” Eagleton said in the statement.
The statement added: “Regarding the firearm in question, a background check of the purchaser was conducted as required by Colorado law and approval for the sale was provided by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. We have and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement as their investigation continues.”

Another failure by the politically correct FBI, as they had this Muslim in their crosshairs. Oh, I forgot, the politically correct FBI goes after innocent Americans (the IRS Scandal, Carter Page, innocent people from the Trump Presidency).
SO IF yet again, the CROOK IN QUESTIOn passed a backround check.. WHY ARE THE dems, so hell bent on pushing for “MORE backround checks”?? IF THEY ALREADY fail to find the bad guys, what good will doing MORE checks do??
An actual “assault” weapon is a weapon which is capable of fully automatic fire. They have been banned from civilian purchase, transfer, or ownership (except with a special ATF license) for almost 100 years. What the progressives are calling an assault rifle is actually the common AR15 and a few others, which look like a modern military rifle.
If this was a REAL background check their system failed these families and the government owes them lots of money$$$$$
No the background check didn’t fail. The man committed murder. The background check doesn’t send a psychiatrist out 1st. Anybody wanting to do harm will do harm. Maybe the FBI failed for acting, but we don’t know all the facts.
Background checks are to see if you have been convicted of a felony or other thing that would be unlawful to purchase a gun.
IF being “On the radar, for being a suspected Terrorist sympathizer”, is not sufficient of a red flag, to at least “DING” the backround check, i don’t know what is.
MAYBE all those families, should class action SUE THE bureau for gross incompetence!
One of two things have happened:
1. Maybe the FBI failed / refused to note his mental problems on his record.
2. Maybe the Colorado authorities failed / refused to carefully check his record.
In either case, law enforcement is at fault.
Law abiding gun owners are completely innocent.
The gun manufacturers are completely innocent.
The National Rifle Association is completely innocent.
But know for certain that gun owners and gun makers and the NRA will be publicly shamed by the Fake News media.
We will be told, again and again, that “something must be done to end gun violence” and the “solution” will be “common sense gun laws” that violate the Second Amendment and leave all good people helpless victims to the bad people who will always have guns.
Also, the “defund the police” movement will assure that the hoodlum who kills you will not even be arrested.
The policy of the Democrat party is to let chaos and violence run amuck and thus let destruction and death rule supreme.
AND with the # of times the agencies have ‘dropped the ball’, WHY THE HELL as not a single person, been fired for NEGLIGENCE!
Plenty of reasons to reject the application. The CBI and FBI failed miserably. The angry immigrant had a record of extreme violence and mental instability. Democrats in Colorado have passed many gun laws. I have a feeling the PC prevented rejection of the application. His immigrant status from an ME country may have clouded the background check. Perhaps the failure to reject the application was just pure incompetence.
Actually the failure may have been driven by politics. In spite of around 3000 people being murdered on 9/11, the progressive/communists feel the need to protect Muslims.
IN which case it imo, is WORSE.. As if it IS being driven by politics, and thus these hack agents are WILLFULLY overlooking key info, to pass mudslimes, then that is not just Negligence, but WILLFULLY becoming an accessory.
