Starbucks employees who want to have an abortion or gender-affirming procedure will have their eligible travel expenses paid for by their company, the Seattle-based coffee giant announced Monday.
Amazon, Apple, Salesforce and Microsoft are among other firms to offer travel reimbursement for workers seeking out such procedures in the wake of a leaked draft showing a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that would strike down the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
Eligibility is open to the coffee chain’s employees enrolled in its insurance plan if they have to travel 100 miles or more from home to access abortion or gender-affirming services. The reimbursement also applies to employees’ dependents enrolled in the company’s health plan, Starbucks said.
Starbucks employees over 240,000 people in the United States.
“Regardless of what the Supreme Court ends up deciding, we will always ensure our partners have access to quality health care,” Starbucks acting executive vice president of partner resources Sara Kelly said in a letter to employees, as reported by Newsweek.

It’s quality death care, which no Insurance of any kind should cover. Nobody who believes abortion to be an Obamanation should be forced to contribute to that which his conscience tells him it is a ruse, and extremely oxymoronic to call it healthy to anyone except the walking brain dead whose consciences have been killed,,,,the first casualty to die before the second act of abortion killing is committed.
WE need to know WHAT HEalth insurance providers, are SUPPORTING THESE THINGS, so we can boycott the hell out of them.
Never stepped foot in a Starbucks in my life.
Never will, either.
Same with Salesforce, amazon, and such…
They just lost a customer.
I make coffee by the pot at home cheaper than one Starbucks coffee and save on gasoline too.
I don’t even drink coffee, but my mom does, and she does instant coffee.. From Aldi.
Starbucks isn’t stupid. They get credit for virtue-signalling and don’t have to hold a position through a maternity leave!
And the list of places I will not go to and those I have never been to grows bigger and better. Thank you but your “birthing person” should have done what you now do.
I wonder. IF one of their workers needed to travel for say a transplant, would starbucks PAY for their travel??
