The nation’s third-largest disaster relief organization has prepared more than one million meals in Texas after Hurricane Harvey.
Volunteers with Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief hit the milestone after feeding units from several states mobilized to help hurricane victims.
Scottie Stice, director of Southern Baptists of Texas Convention Disaster Relief, says it was satisfying to watch a hot meal help suffering people who don’t have access to a functioning kitchen.
He tells OneNewsNow that the successful meal preparation is an example of a “cooperative mission” that organized eight mobile kitchens and volunteers who arrived from all over the country.
“And in four weeks’ time they have done over a million meals,” he says. “Only God can do it is the way I look at it. It’s a God-sized project and only God can meet that need.”
