Whenever the liberal media want to paint the Republican Party as a party of extremists and those on the far right, they trot out Colin Powell. This man is no more Republican than Bill Clinton, and yet he feels compelled to get in front of a camera and speak about the ills of “his” party.

The Examiner.com reports on comments made by former Secretary of State Colin Powell on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” In the interview, Powell states that the Republican Party has a “dark vein of intolerance.”

General Colin Powell, former Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff and Secretary of State said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday morning that the Republican Party has a “dark vein of intolerance.” Taking the gloves off he said many Republicans “look down on minorities.” This was remarkable considering Powell is a Republican. He is also respected by a majority of all Americans.

Look down on minorities? He has got to be kidding. Liberals are the ones who take advantage of minorities and the poor, simply to stay in power. It is infuriating that Powell would say this. But… there’s more.

Here’s a video of the interview:

What’s amazing is that Powell using the election losses of 2008 and 2012 as proof of his argument. Come on! Is there anyone out there who would describe John McCain and Mitt Romney as far right conservatives. No. They were challenged in the primaries by conservatives, and those conservatives lost. Powell has no idea what he’s talking about.

From the Examiner.com report, Powell did not “sugar coat” his message.

He said if the party wants to appeal to the new majority “you can not go around saying we don’t want to have a solid immigration policy; or we’re going to dismiss the 47%; [or] we are going to make it hard for these minorities to vote as they did in the last election.”

The General pointed out that the voter suppression backfired on Republicans. He said it caused people to stand in line for hours “because these Republicans are trying to stop us from voting.”

Voter suppression? Powell actually thinks that efforts to combat voter fraud, such as producing a photo id, are voter “suppression” efforts. Geez… he is the perfect spokesman for the Democrats.

As long as Powell wants to be in front of a camera, there will be an open invitation from the media. After all, who better to bash Republicans than “one of our own.” If they consider him to be one of our own, then here’s a gift… you can keep him. Just keep him off the television!
