Records were released in court today showing that both CNN and NBC paid a known protest organizer $35,000 for footage of the Jan. 6 riots.

The protestor organizer, John Earle Sullivan, claims that he and his organization, Insurgence USA, was simply trying to “give unedited raw footage, photos, and news of the insurrection here in America”. Reports showing his actions Jan. 6 indicate this sentiment being taken a step further.

According to an FBI affidavit, Sullivan was wearing a ballistic vest and gas mask while entering the Capitol through a window that had been broken out. He then pushed past U.S. Capitol Police once inside while telling rioters that “we got to get this s- burned,” and “it’s our house m—-.”

CNN commentators have called Jan. 6 “the crime of the century.” NBC ran commentary speculating that people should be “required to pay monetary damages to people who were injured” and rejoicing over the hundreds of people charged by the FBI. Both disparaged Trump for deliberately encouraging violent protesters.

Sullivan has a previous record of being charged with inciting violence in protests. The affidavits from these court hearings identified Sullivan and an active protest organizer. Prosecutors have stated that he uses social media to incite riots and is a “danger to the community”.

Sullivan can now add being a very highly paid contractor for CNN and NBC to his background as well.
