A pro-family activist and former Republican leader says Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) should not be expected to apologize for choosing to be a responsible father and husband.
Media outlets recently went into an uproar when Cruz left for a family vacation to Cancun while his state endured a deadly winter storm. Cruz said he began second-guessing the trip the moment he got on the plane February 17, telling reporters, “It was obviously a mistake, and in hindsight, I wouldn’t have done it.” (Watch related video)
Sen. Cruz reportedly accompanied his family to Cancun after his daughters asked to go on a trip with friends, given that school was canceled for the week. He returned to the United States the next day, though he had originally been scheduled to stay in Mexico through the weekend.
“I am so proud of Senator Cruz for being a good dad, and I think just escorting his daughters on a vacation and then turning around and coming back is sacrificial,” comments Cathie Adams, a former chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. “I don’t look at him as a person who was running away from responsibilities.”
The trip drew criticism from leaders in both parties and is seen as potentially damaging to Cruz’s future political ambitions. But Adams does not see that happening.
“This is not going to hurt the senator’s future aspirations,” she says. “I don’t know what they are at this point. I don’t even know if any decisions have been made of that sort. But why in the world would people be putting him under a magnifying glass when he’s being a responsible dad and a responsible husband?”
Adams submits that if a Democrat politician had done the same thing, then the media would have given him or her a pass.
Dem Gov Kills thousands…. silence.
Republican Sen goes on trip…. uproar.
IF all these dem mayors, can go on holiday< WHY CAN'T cruz?
So, excuse me, but what loving responsible father does not remove his children and wife from imminent incoming harm when and if he has the means? To do otherwise would make him a Democrat, just like those in the Chocolate city of New Orleans who when Katrina hit, stayed and kept families in the city and preferred to loot their way to survival, and put their family in harm’s way to allow they themselves to never let a crisis go to waste in Democrat inspired looting and other forms of wealth redistribution. The more people that leave the area of impact, the less people around to have to expend limited resources to get out of harms way later. Cruz has been identified by the MSM as a potential heir to the Trump way of governing, along with other True Conservatives, and EVERY chance they can to attack and diminish his character is just another attack on WE THE PEOPLE he and others seek to defend, starting with his own immediate loved ones, followed by WE THE PEOPLE they also love most. Only those whose fathers socially abandoned them or were paid in welfare to leave cannot understand this concept. Enter the secular socialists!
Asking the legistative Senatoral part of the body politic to do the Job designed for a Governor executive is like asking your hand to cut off your nose to spite your face. Democrats all think themselves the brain, never the workiing arms, which is why the work never gets done when they rule.
Something is fishy (maybe scandalous) for calling out a a senator for something so trivial. Just what are they trying to hide or take the focus off? Just how was him being there going to make things better? Perhaps he could have helped fellow citizens clean out their wet carpets but then a high profile person helping that could also get in the way. Then, him being out of his house took a load off the electrical grid.
If this a scandal like some like to say, then we are all guilty.
My guess what they’re trying to take the focus off of is record breaking low temp. and snow fall from what “they” claim is “global warming”…. coupled with the failure of the communist occupiers precious world saving green new deal useless windmills that froze up…. causing people to actually die. It’s all that awful Ted Cruz’s fault.
They’re also probably pushing this, to detract from the power companies, GOUGUING the ever loving hell, out of customers..
What could Cruz have done, about the power grid in Texas, even if we would have stayed in Texas? Answer: Nothing. So the Fake News media is at it again, bashing Cruz for nothing!
what do mean “at it again”… they’ve …NEVER… stopped… in fact it’s been ramping up!
IT Doesn’t matter to them, that he couldn’t have done anything. HOW DARE he go on holiday….
What could Cruz have done
He could have called D.C. and lit fires under folks who should have been sending help.
Given my cell experience in the middle of Texas, he probably could have communicated more effectively from Mexico.
Hell, biden wouldn’t even answer the Texas Mayors who called to request help. At least Ted came back and even apologized, which a dem would never do.
Give me a break. He is in Washington not to ignore his family but ti make sure his family and mine can do what we have always done, be American. Enough with woke far left liberal BS ****. I wish I were a Texan as I would vote for Cruz every time he runs.
Folks , look at the big picture. It is all about turning the RED state of Texas into a BLUE PROGRESSIVE SOCIALIST Democrat state !! Every chance the socialist get they try.
Which is why so many commiefornians have been FLEEING INTO Texas..
It only took a few minutes after the beginning of Ted Cruz’ speech announcing his senatorial candidacy at a Republican Party of Texas convention several years ago for me to whisper to a friend near by, “this guy should run for president.” Nothing has occurred since then to change my mind on that issue.
Go Ted, go.
What about all those trips taken by Democratic mayors and governors while their cities and states were on lockdown, especially while they were telling their constituents not to have family gatherings during holidays or funerals? Crickets from the news outlets. Cruz will have to do something much more serious to lose my support.
Ahh, but like always, IF THE DEMS do it, it’s a-ok. IF we do it, it’s bad/wrong/evil..
