WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Guatemala on Monday – the first stop on her first foreign trip in office.
During her visit, Harris met with Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei as the two discussed solutions to U.S. migration.
“We had a robust, a candid and a thorough conversation about the many issues that are priorities for each of our countries,” Harris said.
Migration is one of those issues to the United States. Harris said the two discussed ways to invest in the country and improve conditions so people don’t flee.
“The president and I discussed the fundamental belief that most people don’t want to leave home,” she said.
The vice president also had a message for those considering the journey: “Do not come. Do not come.”
Harris highlighted legal methods for immigration and promised the United States will enforce laws against illegal entry.
“If you come to our border, you will be turned back,” she said.
It would be helpful if the US would finally acknowledge its contributions to destabilization and regime change in the region.
Doing so can help us change US foreign policy, trade policy, climate policy, & carceral border policy to address causes of mass displacement & migration.

President Joe Biden tapped Harris to lead the White House response to the migration challenge earlier this year. This trip is a chance for her to highlight solutions.
But Republicans have said the trip is shifting the blame for the problem away from the Biden administration.
“Everything that they’ve been doing as it relates to this border crisis has been wrong,” Paris Dennard with the Republican National Committee said.
Dennard said the Biden administration should continue the work of the previous administration by finishing the border wall.
“She has to put American citizens first,” Dennard added.
Harris said she is focusing on tangible solutions.
“I will continue to be focused on that kind of work as opposed to grand gestures,” she said.
Not everyone was happy to see the VP in Guatemala.
The VP travels to Mexico on Tuesday.

As a moderate Dem I’m disappointed in her as well. Being forced to live in L.A. neighborhoods for at least 3 mo. where large numbers of Central American and Mexicans migrants have settled would erase her ignorance about a problem she knows little about. I taught adult migrants English for years and really liked my students. However, that doesn’t mean I could ignore what happens in communities with high levels of poverty and crime because their young people are left unattended while parents work two and three jobs to feed them. Our school was next to some houses where young male teens roamed the streets, playing soccer in the middle of the street while students/staff were leaving the school, one armed with a pistol in his waistband to our security guard’s horror. She’s an ignorant twit.
That is why for years, i’ve said WE NEED TO MAKE English our national language, and go BACK TO WHERE IT WAS MANDATORY to learn/speak/read it, to get ANY GOVERNMENT benefit.

The illegal invasion could be stopped in one day, with Blackhawk gunships. Enemy combatants, and make no mistake, this is what the illegal invaders are, as they destroy our country, need to be dealt with as enemy combatants.
If we had a legitimate president, and he asked for armed volunteers to patrol the border with -0- rules of engagement. I think about a week would do it.

After reading this article, I am totally confused. Previously, I had concluded that Harris was just evil, not stupid, and that AOC was stupid, not evil. Now, I see that both of these females are morons and that their evil intent is a byproduct of their stupidity. I honestly don’t know which of the two is worse! We know that AOC is mentally ill, which explains her “big eyes,” her big mouth, and why she is seeing a psychologist. And we suspect that Kamel-toe Harris is somehow related to Inspector Clouseau, perhaps as an artifact of a botched abortion that was somehow nurtured to maturity by a well-meaning, but clearly mad scientist. What IS obvious is that neither of these two bumblers belong in or anywhere near politics.

The truth is, in this instance they are not stupid. They think we are. Despite what they say they want these illegals to cross the border. Their problem is the optics. They didn’t expect them to come so fast. Thier goal is to get them in the counry and ship the to red states, grant them citizenship and turn the red states blue. This is exactly what happened to California and is now happening to Texas and several other red states. If Texas turns blue republicans will never win a national election again. This is all deliberate. The governors of these state need to put a stop to it.
If Ms. Harris really meant it when she said “Do not come.” it would be one of the first intelligent things she’s said in an extremely long time.
Maybe if all the people in Central America eventually come to the US, we’ll be able to find great real estate deals down there and move – vote with our feet. Why remain in a country where the leaders hate half the population? The smart people who saw what was coming got the hell out of Europe before Hitler secured real power, closed his borders, and started the round up. Anybody who thinks that scenario cannot happen again is a special kind of stupid.
That makes me wonder. FOR YEARS on shows like house hunters international, we’ve seen LOTS of americans move DOWN TO a # of these central/south american nations.. BUT ALL I SEE is prices going up for housing..

I’m not surprised that AOC gets her feathers ruffled by one of the few things that has come out of Kamala’s mouth that I agree with. She has no business being in a position of authority (could be said for Kamala, as well, though for different reasons). She simply doesn’t have the wisdom for it, nor the ability to think through anything in an intelligent way. Intellectual vomit, at best.
I saw Kamala’s speech. I was actually quite surprised to find a point of agreement. The context was “don’t come across illegally”. I can’t see any reason why a Congressperson would take offense at this. Given this administration’s dereliction of duty on the southern border, I was happy to hear someone (ANYONE) say anything that might possibly be productive on this front. In this case, it was the VP. Credit where credit is due.
