Rush Limbaugh, the monumentally influential media icon who transformed talk radio and politics in his decades behind the microphone, helping shape the modern-day Republican Party, died Wednesday at the age of 70 after a battle with lung cancer, his family announced.
Limbaugh’s wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on his radio show.
The radio icon learned he had Stage IV lung cancer in January 2020 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump at the State of the Union address days later. First lady Melania Trump then presented America’s highest civilian honor to Limbaugh in an emotional moment on the heels of his devastating cancer diagnosis.
“Rush Limbaugh: Thank you for your decades of tireless devotion to our country,” President Trump said during the address.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
Conservative Talent on loan from God,,,which now returns to from where it came, as a drop of rain returns to the great ocean from which it sprang.
Not a mere drop, more like a bucket of talent. We’ll not see his like again in our lifetimes. 🙁
A great voice for conservatism has been silenced, but he has inspired an army of like-minded folk who will take up his flag and carry it forward.
Rest in Peace, Rush, and thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.
He should rest in the Rotunda, but with Pelosi and Biden in charge it won’t happen. When Nancy and Joe go, they should stuff the old fossils and display them in the hall of Statues Like Roy Rogers did with Trigger and Bullet in his museum in Branson and charge an admission fee displayed as people politicians who never give admissions of guilt for any of their crimes against America.
HE deserves it MORE< than half of those schleps in congress…
Looks like god called in that loan!
Our great Rush is gone but never to be forgotten. Sadness fills our hearts – it does feel like we have lost a precious family member.
I literally cried… the only other celebrity that brought me to tears when I heard they passed away was Sam Kinison… not that I put them in the same category, mind you.
Yes, God has said “You have fought the good fight. It’s time for you to come home. Welcome home, my son.” Of course the communist democrats are jumping up and down for joy. But look at the ages of the leadership of the communist democrats. Carter is in his 90s, Clintons and Biden and Schumer and Bernie are in their 80s, and Pelosi is almost 80 (even though she looks like she’s about 110). All those communist democrats have one foot in the grave and soon the conservatives are going to be the ones jumping up and down for joy. And what will Lucifer say to those bums when they die? “Welcome to my nightmare. And there are NO freezers or ice cream here.”
I don’t think I’ll be jumping up and down with joy… more like sad that another useless liberal communist soul could NOT find the light of truth.
oh my goodness i feel like i have lost a family member and i already feel like we have no president.
may you rest in peace rush i will see you in heaven!
we have lost a big voice for conservatives in america.
And as i predicted last year, when he first said he was sick, LIBERALS are already flooding social media, and other sites, GLOATING and celebrating he died…
of course … they’re the side of compassion, forgiving and love… not like the awful, hate filled and racist conservatives.
Just when conservatives need to rally after a devastating blow, we lose one of our greatest generals. Repubs have very few EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS and no others with a loyal audience in the tens of millions. Coming on the heels of a fraudulent election this is a tragedy of epic proportions.
Rush fought to the bitter end and deserves to RIP, his conscience clear at having done all he could do.
So true. HELL if it wasn’t for his work, i doubt Talk radio would even be a thing.. IMO He single handedly MADE IT WHAT IT IS today.
God rest your soul in peace, Rush. You never waivered from your Conservatism. You were never politically correct and you were never spineless, like the RINOS in the House and Senate. You were a true American Patriot and our Constitution was everything to you. God will have a special place for you, in Heaven. You Rush, are the best of the best.
He fought for the right, and gave it his all.
God bless you Rush Limbaugh you will be missed.
Talent on loan, from God !
Rush was the torch that struck many a match that gave many a liberal the hot foot.
RIP Rush you deserve a rest, you are with a lot of friends in heaven.
You are missed already Rush…..Your shoes will be hard to fill
It’s a sad, sad day for me and for America today.
I heard just after 11:00 AM that Rush has died. I can’t stop crying.
Rush was SO huge in my life – a brother in Christ, a teacher, a friend in deed, a real gentleman, and a man with so much insight and savvy about the “state of our government”.
When I can, I’ll write a tribute to Rush. I never listened to Rush without learning something, and his ‘predictions’ were always correct – to a Capital “T”.
The people running his show today are excellent – replaying some of his broadcasts and playing a favorite song – in my mind it encompasses all that Rush stood for and that he unfailingly defended and praised.
His wife spoke and she was wonderful – the heart of a real woman who loved him.
Again, I can’t stop crying. I love him and miss him. God bless Rush and America!
I loved hearing Trump’s praise of him, on fox this afternoon..
I started listening to Rush back in 1983, when he was on KFBK in Sacramento, loved him then and more so now!
The saddest part about this is the great loss to our nation, at a time when he has never been more needed.
I suppose the greatest honor we could all pay to the memory of Rush is to pick up the torch and carry on the mantle of reason he brought to our nation for so many years. The time to tolerate the intolerable insanity of the Left should never have been allowed, the time for silence is over, a proven mistake all along. We all need to have the courage of Rush, to stand for what we know to be right and speak out against lunacy of the Left. Our own tolerance has long been the greatest weapon used against us for decades. Any not familiar with the “paradox of tolerance” should read about it, as it will mean our end!
So true, especially in lite of how the left, is doing all it can, to SILENCE voices like his…
I don’t know what to say that others haven’t already said. Such big shoes to fill … so lucky we were to have had him.
“Thanks” Rush. Rest in peace now.
I would like to think that no one can replace Rush. Anyone else can only follow in his footsteps.
He certainly has big shoes to fill..
America’s heart is heavy today, for it has lost one of its favorite sons. For almost 33 years Rush Limbaugh has spoken to and for traditional American values over radio and sometimes television broadcasts like no other before or since. Perhaps no other ever will. Rush was truly one-of-a-kind and will dearly be missed by everyone who either knew him in person or over the airwaves. My sincere condolences to his family.
Can’t remember the exact year long ago but I listened to Rush when he started being broadcast in NYC and from that time I always hated it when I had to miss his broadcast or when he had a vacation/guest host situation. I truly loved his humor, the goofy songs, the Feminazi Alerts – poking the bear with humor, not nasty vitriol. The USA has lost a great patriot and provacateur – so happy President Trump was able to award him a meaningful Presidential Medal of Freedom at the SOTU address last year, so well-deserved.
I think I’m speaking for millions when I say RIP Rush, You da Man!!
It is so hard to say good bye to a great friend I never was able to meet. I found his tv show one Saturday searching through the channels, I’m guessing in 1992, and became an avid listener ever since. I felt as though he was talking directly to me. I had found someone who could put into words how I felt about what our country was facing. Now I reflect back to when I was able to find a radio station that I could listen to and how all those years have gone by so fast. I’m going to miss him like many, many others.
May you Rest In Peace, Rush. May God’s comforting Spirit bless your family, your EIB family, and friends. I love you back.
