Send some sparklers and a brick of firecrackers over to Britain, June 23 is now their Fourth of July.

Let’s help them throw a real Independence Day party because Brexit will be celebrated for generations.

Good for them for exiting from the European Union peacefully. It’s nothing short of a miracle to see a modern geopolitical divorce take place at the ballot box — where it belongs — without an ounce of bloodshed.

But don’t tell Vice President Joe Biden that. As it appears, he’s already forgotten the American Revolutionary War and the Declaration of Independence.

In Dublin yesterday, he spoke of xenophobia, isolationism and nationalism. He accused Donald Trump of playing to “fears” instead of “our better angels.”

Funny, I don’t remember anyone hitting our Founding Fathers with that when they liberated 13 colonies from British rule so that we could form our own country.

No matter. The British have spoken and the votes have been counted. They’re taking their country back from EU headquarters in Brussels.

By exiting the EU, they will now have autonomy and the ability to control their own economy and borders without having their hands tied by a consortium of laws and opaque EU bureaucrats.

There’s simply nothing wrong with putting your country first. That’s what George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Sherman, John Adams and Robert Livingston did.

How quickly some globalist-loving, left-wingers forget.

Come Nov. 8, patriotic Americans will send them a reminder.
