China on Thursday reacted sharply to reports of a planned Taiwan visit by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, saying it would take strong measures in response and warning that such a trip would negatively impact China-U.S. relations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told reporters that the United States should cancel the trip and stop official exchanges with Taiwan, state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
“If the U.S. insists on going its own way, China will certainly take strong measures to firmly defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Zhao said.
“All consequences that arise will be entirely borne by the U.S.”
Japan’s Fuji News Network reported earlier Thursday that Pelosi would head to Taipei on Sunday after a planned meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Her visit would be the first to Taiwan by a House speaker since Newt Gingrich met then-President Lee Teng-hui in 1997.
Taiwan’s United Daily News reported that Pelosi was expected to be accompanied by House foreign affairs committee Chairman Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y.
The trip would coincide with the 43rd anniversary of the signing of the Taiwan Relations Act by President Jimmy Carter in 1979. The law regulates the countries’ non-diplomatic ties, including arms sales to Taipei, and stipulates that threats to the self-governing island are “of grave concern to the United States.”
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has brought a renewed focus on the danger to Taiwan posed by China, which has vowed to retake the island it views as a breakaway province.
Early last month, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden sent a delegation of former defense officials to Taipei in a show of support shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The State Department approved a $95 million arms sale to Taiwan earlier this week and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Wednesday that the United States was prepared to impose sanctions on China if it were to invade Taiwan.
“I believe we’ve shown that we can in the case of Russia,” Yellen told the House financial services committee. “I think you should not doubt our ability to resolve to do the same in other situations.”

This tense situation with China isn’t all Biden’s fault—there is a history of mishandling with this Communist regime. Bill Clinton did more than his fair share of damage when he was in office. Just as we did not take care of business with North Korea years ago when we had the opportunity, the same can be said for China.
The other side of the coin is—it’s with Xi just like it is with Putin—Xi cannot manage China without being a ruthless dictator—he doesn’t need anything else to corrupt, but we are in a bit of a pickle now as to stopping him, aren’t we?
We should send this COVID infected Speaker of the Louse to the mainland of China to plant a big hug and kiss on XI, for a home coming celebration of the COVID virus return to the place from whence it was born. With a little luck they will hold her hostage till the fall elections are over. They can always send over Hunter to use his Chinese connections and influence to buy her a ticket back home. The Chinese already asked Hunter to paint them of picture of Pelosi for a big payoff but it looked too much like the picture of Dorian Gray.

What really distressed Pelosi was the Chinese threatened to stop giving her Husband those fixed manipulated stock tips that made Nancy and Paul multi-millionaires. Apple, Walt Disney, PayPal, and Amex shares, $2.9 Million just last January alone,,, all cutting side deals with the Red Chinese Commies to do business in China that allows them to buy American politicians, and now even Presidents. One reason Joe is so obsessed with the color black these days is because his attention is changing from black American skin color to Chinese Blackmail, soon to be followed by more blackened mail-in votes in the fall.
The communist talk of national sovereignty and territorial integrity of land which isn’t their’s! The last legitimately elected government of China was driven out of the country and on to Taiwan, the communists seizing power on the mainland. The government on Taiwan was the original member of the United Nations.

So, Nancy is scheduled for a show the flag trip to Taiwan and China objects and threatens some sort of retaliation. All the more reason for Nancy to go. No need to give Xi confidence he can dictate our diplomatic activities.

First of all the Chinese Government needs to shut up and keep out of Taiwan because they are our Allies and if they try to step foot in Taiwan they will suffer a great loss. You do not tell The United States what to do. We tell China to take a long walk off a very short bridge.

Actually I would prefer to see Nancy parachute into Beijing like Rudolf Hess parachuted into England during WWII. It seems appropriate. Nancy is Biden’s Deputy Fuhrer as was Rudolf Hess for his Fuhrer. Perhaps she (like Rudolf) could pretend to negotiate agreements with Xi (and wind up spending the next 5 years in a Chinese prison.
The US imposing sanction on China as they did to Russia is like closing the barn door after the horses got out.
