We've seen enough Obama speeches to realize that the calm, charismatic, clear-spoken, smooth, and articulate politician that left-wing activists and media members want to portray is nothing of the sort. Take Obama's teleprompter away, and out come the ums and errs. But, because it's Obama, his rabid followers are full of excuses: he can't remember everything, he gives so many speeches, the teleprompter is just like having note cards. Blah, blah, blah.

However, replace the word Obama with the word Palin -- as in former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- and the left wingers sing a different tune. It's ok for Obama to read word for word from a teleprompter, but heaven help us if Sarah Palin uses note cards during the speech! But Palin had the last laugh, and the left ends up looking stupid and hypocritical. Nice job!

It turns out that left wing bloggers and media members are having a field day because Palin, during her speech and Q&A session at the recent Tea Party convention, had notes jotted on the palm of her hand. Yes, you heard it right... the left is in an uproar because Palin scribbled a few talking points on her hand. The world is surely coming to an end.

As noted by Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters.org, MSNBC's Chris Matthews, the one who got the tingling feeling down his leg when he heard Obama speak, is having a cow over this non-issue:

Chris Matthews: Can a palm reader be president? What do we think of kids in school who write stuff on their hands to get through a test? What do we think of a would-be political leader who does it to look like she's speaking without notes? What do we think of Sarah Palin this weekend answering pre-screened questions from a like-minded audience in Nashville, a tea party convention, and still having to put a cheat sheet on her palm to answer what she calls the basics of her beliefs? How can someone presume to be auditioning for president when they can't even answer questions they know are coming?

Andrea Mitchell takes her shots at Sarah Palin too in this interview:

In a follow-up story on NewsBusters.org, Brent Baker reports that ABC and CBS cover the "controversy" over Palin's notes:

CBS's Nancy Cordes reported, over a helpful graphic showing the words written on Palin's hand, that while Palin "dismissed the President Saturday night as a 'charismatic guy with a Teleprompter,' she may have been relying on some crib notes of her own." Cordes concluded: "Her supporters called it an endearing sign that Palin's a real person, while detractors argue it's proof she doesn't know her facts." On NBC, Brian Williams led the Palin story with how "it happened after a speech where she criticized the President for relying too much on a Teleprompter."

However, Palin had the last laugh. In a fundraising appearance with Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Palin wrote "Hi Mom!" on her hand for all the media to see:

So, let the media and bloggers have their fun with this. Palin is known for giving stirring speeches from the stump... speeches completely off the cuff. To have a few talking points jotted down is something any speech-maker would do. It's quite a bit different than someone like Obama who can't articulate a complete sentence without it being written down in front of him.

Update at 2:40 p.m. CST: Leave it to Obama's press secretary to jump right in as well. Gibbs is so lame. Check out today's press conference.

Palin's Notes, Obama's Teleprompter, and the Increasingly Stupid Media

Using notes to make a speech is a tried and true method of remembering points the speaker wishes to make. The speech comes out of the mind of the speaker, i.e. Palin.

Using a teleprompter to read a speech is like an actor reading lines but not understanding or beleiving what is said, i.e. Obama.

The media is so scared that the American people will see Obama for what he is, an empty suite with good speaking skills, that they will grasp onto any twigg. Conversely, the dispise Palin so much that they make fools of themselves trying to make a fool of her.

While Pres Obama may be severely tied to the Teleprompter, and Gov Palin needs crib notes, That is a good Public speaking technique. What Pastor do you know that can remember a 30 minute sermon by heart? They all use notes. and many times their notes are written right in their Bibles so they can preach it over again.

I think that cricicism over this MINOR thing is over blown. Get down to what the Candidates really believe.

Lacking any proof to the contrary, I conclude that Mr. Obama is the dumbest president we've had since...Truman, who never went to college. But because the left thinks of itself as "intellectual," it must perpetuate the ruse that Obama is brilliant. Since, the fact that he is not even remotely intelligent is obvious to everyone, the leftists' lie can be carried only by claiming everyone else is an idiot. It's a typical Alinsky tactic and by now the only thing about this administration that is transparent. Give me Palin's common sense over Obama's narcissistic pomposity any day.

When Obama talks without a teleprompter he seems hesitant and hems-and-haws a lot while he tries to figure out what to say. When Palin talks her speech flows with a sometimes strange cadence that always comes out right in the end. Her speeches are almost musical and indicate a very quick mind that can, unlike Obama, think and talk at the same time.

Whether Palin is presidential material or not is not the reason this administration and the established left wing media hate her so. It is because she has such a natural down to earth persona that the "middle class" relates to as one of their own. Because she in fact is. She came from a middle class background. Her dad was a school teacher. Sarah has plenty of intelligence, and good old fashion "common sense." And she uses it, without regard to the prescribed intellectually approved template. This is something the left cannot stand in anyone. They are the control freaks, the authoritarians, and no one is supposed to get around them and into the public spotlight for the people to see up close and personal without getting the established left wing apparatus' seal of approval which carries with it an obligation to conform to a Marxist world view. And, the progressives twisted political agenda. Personal experiences influence the message and the delivery of the message of any speaker. Sarah is just a normal American life experiences. So she comes off authentic and believable, vulnerable, likable, and 'common.' Not pretentious, arrogant, condescending and fake as a polished decorative plastic fruit center piece. Which is the way the micro managed Obama comes off, because he is trying to walk a razor thin line in order to hide so much, i.e. his true socialist agenda, his Marxist ingrained ideology, his sealed and never released personal vital records including even his college transcripts, and college financing history; and his shady past in community organizing and that whole cast of strange bed fellows; all the while trying to portray the image created for him by Left Wing Elitists as a professorial, immaculately conceived anointed one by humanism's God come to save us poor ignorant creatures from ourselves. Sarah is one of the best communicators since Ronald Reagan, without the soaring rhetoric maybe, but she makes an instant connection with so many millions of like minded folks it scares the crap out of those pseudo intellectuals who would be your slave masters if only people like Sarah and that damn tea party bunch would just sit down and shut up. Fat Chance!

EXCUSE ME! Hello, anyone home?
Did you perchance witness Mr. Obama, without a Teleprompter -- or even a cheat sheet scribled onto his hand -- take on 140 Republicans, armed with printed aids, and never make an error?
You ought to at least stick to a talking point that has a bit of credibility. Otherwise you look like a moron.

"O" has to be weary and measured when in public because he is always lying, and his cronies and handlers are in a panic every time he is unscripted, because his Marxist, radical ego will instinctively take over.
Obama has already had slips of the tongue such as with Joe "the Plummer" and others.
Palin on the other hand is everything Obama could never hope to be. She is honest.
Dishonesty is the Achilles heel of Marxists in the Progressive (Liberal-Democrat) Party in America today. We MUST make sure every American KNOWS THIS.
They all have to lie in order to stick it to you and I, the honest ward working Americans who are being robbed blind by these thugs.
More power to the people and to you Sara!

Are those coMEDIAns judging us by their mental standards?
I was taught to use notes when making a speech in my HS Public Speaking class. I wonder how many of those classless commentators work without notes?....or is THAT their problem?
I find it refreshing that speaking with note reminders is the worst thing they can think of to criticize about her.

Excuse me? This is not the increasingly stupid media, this is what it has been for quite some time, the liberal left leaning media. It has simply become much more so now that they have a government that they must continue to prop up, cover up for and make (a mountain of) excuses for.

Have you noticed that there is a direct correlation between the people who scare the socks off the left and the viciousness of their attacks on those people? If a conservative wasn't dead sure on who to vote for, all one would have to do would be to listen to the name of the person the media is bashing at the moment. I could live with that!

The difference between Obama speaking without his teleprompter and Palin speaking either without or with minimal notes is what is in their hearts. Sara Palin is "the girl next door" who was brought up with American values that more often match those of the American people. Obama, on the other hand, had extremely bad examples as a child. Read about his childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis and it may become clear that in order to speak without a teleprompter, Obama must attempt to censor his speech to make sure (he is always "making sure" of something) that his real opinions and what he really thinks is hidden. He isn't always successful. Which newsman had to correct Obama when he spoke of his "Muslim faith"? I rest my case.

These media morons use teleprompters to the same extent that Obama does. I guess they consider reading a scripted presentation to be a higher level of skill than jotting down a few notes on a card or on your hand.

Our current president is a total embarrassment. What does he do when he has a meeting with leaders of other countries other than blast America for all of our "interference" in the world?

Imagine for a moment, Obama in a room with Putin and the fate of the world in their hands...kind of a scary thought isn't it. Where will Obama derive his answers, opinions, objections, and suggestions without someone thinking for him? Obama would likely hand over the keys to the Whitehouse to make up for us winning the Cold War and causing so much pain for the Russian people.

Somebody please get this man out of office before he destroys America!

Teleprompters, IPods, Blogging, SmartPhones, texting, etc, etc. are the devices that are dumbing down our society. While these people, who I call the Intellectual Morons, may be adept at using these devices they have lost the real art of social skills, conversation and a true grasp of the English language to properly and effectively communicate. When one has good communication skills they can convey from their hearts and connect with all. Winston Churchill, FDR, John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan were such people. They had the ability to communicate and connect to their listeners without these devices because they commanded a true intellect of the English language and communication skills. They never had any of these props. Since that time no one has really stepped up to that level until Sarah Palin. B. Hussein Obama represents this culture of intellectual morons, most of today’s LEFT. They are propped up and drunk on gizmos, gadgets, IPods, cells phones and culture of gluttony and have no grasp of communication skills and how to really communicate and they lack social skills. Take away all these devices away from these people and their true colors appear. Like Mark Twain said they open up their mouth and they remove all doubt. Great leaders can communicate, B. Hussein Obama is NO leader. The American people are catching on and the best part is B. Hussein Obama CANNOT handle or take criticisms or going against his ideals, whatever they are. The pressure is increasing and when the pressure is on we will see the unraveling and the true B. Hussein Obama emerge.

Bring it on, lamestream media! They may think they are titillating their lunatic left audience with their vitriol but what they are really doing is galvanizing conservatives and strengthening their resolve to throw the bums out in 2010. Can't wait!

The ignorant lame brain "mainstream ignorant hate mongering media," just proves daily how truly ignorant, bigotted and willifully ignorant they are. They are self righteous, condescendingly arrogant, without honor, ethics, decency, products of an alleged education and with truly dysfunctional gray cells. Truth they know not!

The 2010 election will decide what the American people want: a socialist/Marxist country with Muslim leanings, or a country that returns to our Constitution and the rule of law. We need more "non-elitists" from Harvard et al, and more real down to earth Americans (also fewer lawyers and more businessmen would help).

It is amazing that when you consider the left: they have a super majority in the Senate a majority in the House and the Presidency and they are still blaming Republicans for interfering with their agenda. What a bunch of idiots!

When you speak from your heart and your strong beliefs, you need no teleprompters! And can you believe Governor Palin spoke for that length of time without one 'uh' or 'err'!!!!

Sarah Palin is the 'real deal' - just as is Scott Brown! And we are going to be seeing more real people stepping up to the plate to come to the aid of America...and We The People are going to work hard for their success!!!!!

Posted by a proud 2009 Tea Party attendee...and looking forward to our 2010 gettogethers! The Silent Majority will be silent no longer. Thanks for inspiring us, Sarah!

Scott's win here in the bluest of blue states is just the beginning of the SECOND AMERICAN REVOLUTION!

There is no longer any objectivity in the common media. And this is amplified by rabid people who have flipped like Matthews and Olbermann or Mitchell. I am always astounded how the media built up their candidate and now president as an orator. Orator??? He had to practice a lot to read his teleprompter with speeches compiled by anybody but him. And he still can't read "corps" properly. Maybe he saw too many corpses in Chicago.
Palin is doing fine so far.

Far worse than the left Socialist Obamacrats thinking that the Republicans are idiots what do you think they call us plain old citizens behind our backs? Neither most of my friends and colleagues nor myself are either stupid or idiotic and we will clearly demonstrate that fact come November.

Ah, here we go again with the "Mainstream Misleadia" making the charge of incompetence because of the presence of notes. "O" certainly hasn't got this far without having his teleprompter display his script for America's downfall. I don't care what method is used to get the point across as long as it is in the legitimate good interest of the people and not a tool for our destruction. Time to clear house of the self serving politicians. Nothing much has come from the well funded progressive incumbents on both sides. During election time, I think there should be a set amount given to each candidate and they have to work with that...no more no less.
