IF ITS this big of an issue in Japan, WHY HAVE THEY NOT flat out cancelled the damn thing!?
Hopefully the Covid Olympics fiasco will end the bloated unsportsmanlike spectacle that the corrupt IOC has made. Over 80% of Japanese wish these games had been canceled. Taxpayers in potential host cities are saying NAY! Pick a permanent venue for winter and summer games so hosts don’t have to beggar themselves building white elephant arenas etc. and end IOC’s graft.
I forgot where i read it, but there was an article just prior to the RIO games, i read that stated something like 75% or more, of cities/countries, who HAVE hosted it, REGRETED IT years later, cause of all the money they had to POUR OUT TO HOST IT, went to waste afterwards, as facilities went unused after…
Yep. buyers’ remorse is common post-Olympics for taxpayers who are promised bonanzas but end up with debt for white elephant infrastructure. Politicians and their cronies partied on the taxpayers’ dime while taxpayers had to pay TWICE, exorbitant ticket prices on top of debt and interest on the debt.
Hell, i remember reading about one olympics, where over 14,000 (or so the report read), local citizens were kicked OUT OF THEIR HOMES to build 3 of the facilities that were to be constructed for the games, and were “PROMISED USE OF THEM once the games were over.. BUT then the city they were built in, TURNED THEM INTO Sports teams facilities, so the locals were SCREWED OVER twice, once from being kicked out, and a second time by the politicos RENIGGING On their deal.
