Eight-year CNN freelance contributor Adeel Raja was exposed on Twitter Sunday for recent and past tweets in support of Adolf Hitler, who lead the genocide of approximately 6 million Jews under the Nazi Germany regime.

As the Israel/Gaza conflict escalates, journalists were quick to put in their two cents to the discussion. Adeel Raja was no different, but his tweets were appalling and a show of blatant antisemitism. Both of which Twitter and CNN allowed to stay on their platform as a verified member, and as a writer.

Tweets included statements such as “Hail Hitler.”

In reference to the FIFA 2014 world finals where Germany played Argentina, “The only reason I am supporting Germany in the finals is – Hitler was a German and he did good with those jews!”

“My support for Germany is due to what Hitler did with Jews!”

In response to another journalist, “@alishahjourno: Palestinian genocide…inner Hitler among Germans must resurface” hell yeah!!!”

Many of Raja’s tweets have since been deleted.

As an outlet, CNN seemed willing to throw the “Nazi accusation around, with well-known anchors Don Lemon and Christine Amanpour went on “unhinged” rants about the Trump presidency and supporters. Lemon’s rant, saved by the Daily Telegraph on video, includes the claim, “If you voted for Trump you voted for the person who the Klan supported. You voted for the person who Nazis support…”

Amanpour’s rant compared the Trump presidency to the Kristallnacht before the host walked back her sentiments.

With an outlet so dedicated to “calling out” Nazism wherever they deem fit, it is odd they’ve allowed a long-time contributor to publicly support Hitler’s horrific extermination of Jews since 2014, only now denouncing any ties to Raja.

CNN did eventually drop Raja from its freelance roster.
