WASHINGTON, Jan 18 (KUNA) — US President Donald Trump has canceled the planned delegation’s trip to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum slated for the 22nd of this month.

“Out of consideration for the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay and to ensure his team can assist as needed, President Trump has canceled his Delegationآ’s trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement, late on Thursday.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin was to lead the delegation, which was also to include Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Coordination Chris Liddell.

Trump had planned to attend but previously canceled his own travel to the event because of the shutdown that is now in its 27th day.
