Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed Wednesday one of the nation’s most restrictive abortion bills, prohibiting the procedure once a fetal heartbeat is detected in a challenge to limits of the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision.
The signing of the bill comes two days after the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a major abortion case in Mississippi that bans most abortions after 15 weeks.
The Texas law, which passed with overwhelming Republican support, allows almost any private citizen to sue an abortion provider or others who “aid and abet” an abortion in violation of the restriction. The new law will go into effect on Sept. 1.
A fetal heartbeat can be detected as early as six weeks before many women know they are pregnant. Empowering private citizens with the power the sue gives the Texas law a twist not found in other similar “heartbeat” bills passed around the country.
“Our creator endowed us with the right to life, and yet millions of children lose their right to life every year because of abortion,” Abbott said during a signing ceremony that was posted on social media. “In Texas, we work to save those lives and that’s exactly what the Texas Legislature did this session.”
Jonathan Saenz, president and attorney for Texas Values, said the modification is meant to weather legal challenges since private citizens will be able to enforce the law instead of the state.
“The Texas heartbeat law is very simple, if a heartbeat is detected, the baby must be protected,” Saenz said in a statement. “We are proud that Texas, Gov. Abbott, and a bipartisan group of lawmakers are leading the way with the strongest heartbeat law in the country. SB8 is designed to withstand the usual legal challenges and will protect babies in the womb from abortion.”
Abortion rights advocates said the law will lead to a wave of lawsuits by abortion opponents that will drain the legal resources of abortion organizations.

#6 of the 10 Commandments of GOD – “Thou Shalt not Kill” –
If something has a heartbeat and one stops that heartbeat, one has Killed.
Proverbs 6:16-19
16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
* haughty eyes,
* a lying tongue,
* hands that shed innocent blood,
* a heart that devises wicked schemes,
* feet that are quick to rush into evil,
* a false witness who pours out lies
* a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Is it just me, or does it appear that the Democrat Party approves of and promote the above??
Hell yes, they approve of the above.. ALL ARE THE DEVILS things, WHICH THEY LOVE>
Heartless Law breaking self-god “I know nothing Colonel Klink” Democrat inspired abortion Doctors, with vacuums between their ears and heart much greater than the vacuums they use to extract unborn human infants, who have no intentions of following any laws that diminish the redistribution to them of taxpayer money, laws they deem against their power over life and death, not to mention financial gain will, when it comes to the sound of fetal heartbeats, will just change their tune to “I hear nothing Sargent Sonagram” and keep their money train chugging along underground, until another Texas version of Biden or Kamala can be put into power and the eyes of Texas are no longer upon them. American history and Abbott has proven that men often make better gatekeepers of infant life than our current lib miseducated fearful women when it comes to the gatekeeping of infant life or death, who when they come to a fork in the road of life,,,too often take the life, not the right fork. In a free nation of brave heroes, the taking of human life should never be the government allowed, funded or sanctioned path of least resistance.
The supreme court came what with a good Compromise but if you have a car accident and a fetus dies ,you can be charged with the death of a fetus.Vehicular homicide Quite a few states have laws that allow this. But with abortion a fetus is not a person or baby. So which is it ???
That is something i have often argued about.
WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARD In law? How is it “Two counts of murder/manslaughter” For someone who say did a hit and run on a pregnant woman (or shot her/stabbed her), one for her and one for the baby she’s carrying inside.
BUT SHE CAN KILL THAT KID time after time after time.. YET NEVER face a single charge?!
Makes no bloody sense.
I hope one day, abortion can be eliminated totally in our Country. The devil at work, murdering an innocent helpless baby in the womb.
If i had the power, EVERY WOMAN Who got a 2nd abortion would get permanently snipped so they can’t ever get pregnant again (thus no more worrying about having a 3rd or more abortion).. AND EVERY DOCTOR THAT has given THE SAME WOMAN 3 or more abortions as is, would get jailed for the rest of their life…
