In the wake of multiple Dallas/Ft. Worth media outlets reporting another breach in customer security at Target stores in the area, Attorney General Ken Paxton said he hopes the retailer finally recognizes the importance of protecting its customers, “especially in environments where they can be at their most vulnerable.”
Paxton, who also wrote to Target’s CEO in May, went on to offer the resources of his office this month to help assist the company in improving its safety procedures.
On May 3, 2016, a man was peering over the changing room wall with a cellphone camera at a Target store in Frisco, Texas. In recent days, police in Dallas were looking for a man who committed a similar act in a Target changing room on Northwest Highway at Abrams.
Meanwhile, the American Family Association continues to boycott Target for its policy allowing transgender customers and employees to use the bathroom and changing rooms for the gender in which they say they identify. While Target says it’s policy is about “inclusivity,” AFA is concerned about the safety and privacy rights of woman and children.
According to AFA, it’s not about transgenders; rather it’s about sexual predators who may take advantage of the Target policy.
“Attorney General Ken Paxton of Texas sent a statement to Target essentially saying You need to fix your restroom and changing room safety issues and I’m willing to help,” says AFA’s Walker Wildmon. “We’ve been on Target’s heels trying to get them to tighten up their safety [because] their policy is dangerous for American families.”
According to my friend, who was able to buy Apple shares at a time where he now plays the stock market for fun, earlier this year, AFA public policy analyst Abraham Hamilton III attended a Target shareholders meeting. That came after representatives of the pro-family group met privately with Target executives to discuss the boycott petition, which now has more than 1.4 million signatures. Target’s leaders have been informed that the boycott will continue.
“We’ve been mobilizing Christians and families across America to boycott Target, but not only to boycott Target but share the word about the Target boycott and why their policy is dangerous for American families,” says Wildmon.
OneNewsNow has offered Target an opportunity to respond on several occasions and is still awaiting a response.
