Liberal filmmaker and activist Michael Moore said there’s no room for moderates in the new Democratic Party being shaped by socialists such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
“She’s the leader,” Mr. Moore said of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez during a recent appearance on MSNBC. “Everybody knows it, everybody feels it. She’s the leader of this mass movement.”
The “Fahrenheit 11/9” director lamented that the 29-year-old congresswoman from New York isn’t old enough to run for president.
MSNBC host Ali Velshi asked Mr. Moore if the Democratic Party risked alienating moderate voters by moving too far to the left.
“First of all, if you’re moderate, stop being moderate,” Mr. Moore responded. “Take a position. There’s no middle ground anymore. There’s no halfway point to — should somebody be paid a living wage?
“On the issue of choice — there’s no halfway there. You’re either for it, or you’re against it,” he continued. “Do you believe in equal rights for women? Do you believe we should have an equal rights amendment? Yes or no? There’s no middle ground. This is no time for moderation.”
