Hobby Lobby Founder and CEO David Green made it clear on Thursday that he is voting for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump because of his stance to defend Americans’ religious liberty – especially when it comes to choosing justices for the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS).

According to Green, the 2016 Presidential Election coming up in November is more important than any other White House contest he has witnessed in the past decades of America’s history.

“Make no mistake, the vacancy left by Justice [Antonin] Scalia and the subsequent appointment to fill his seat makes this presidential election one of the most significant in modern times,” the Christian business owner expressed in his op-ed titled “One judge away from losing religious liberty Hobby Lobby CEO” that was published by USA Today on Thursday.

Beware of Hillary, embrace Trump

Green fears that if America elects Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton to move back into the White House in January, she will adversely influence the highest court of the land so that it will reflect and implement her anti-Christian worldview and take the religious freedom of Americans down to an all-time low.

“During a 2015 speech at the Women in the World Summit, Hillary Clinton declared that religious beliefs ‘have to be changed,’” the pro-family advocate wrote in his piece found in the national daily. “What I fear she really means is that the beliefs of people of faith across our nation will be discounted, and those people will be forced to violate their conscience under her presidency – a philosophy that would be carried out by anyone she nominates for the Supreme Court.”

He went on to compare another Clinton presidency to what America would look like under a Trump administration, which he is confident would champion the constitutional rights guaranteed to Americans so that they can exercise their faith without being silenced or punished by the government.

“In contrast, Donald Trump has been steadfast in expressing his commitment to uphold the Constitution, and his list of possible Supreme Court nominees inspires confidence that there is hope in my future – and in my grandchildren’s future – for a country that will value those most fundamental rights,” Green asserted.

SCOTUS experience

The owner of one of America’s favorite arts and crafts retail chains has firsthand experience when it comes to witnessing how important it is for the justice system to be appointed with judges who will strive to uphold citizens’ and businesses’ religious freedom.

Back in 2014, Green’s Hobby Lobby took on the U.S. government and won when SCOTUS issued a 5-4 ruling in its favor, supporting the devout Christian business owner’s argument in the Burwell v. Hobby Lobby case.

In the landmark decision, the Green family’s contention was upheld – that President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare plan, Obamacare, had an unconstitutional mandate that violated their religious rights as American business owners by forcing them to provide employees with insurance coverage for all forms of birth control, including abortifacients such as the morning-after pill.

Today, because of the landmark ruling in Hobby Lobby’s favor, the billion-dollar corporation and other for-profit businesses across America are free to exercise their religious views under federal law and not fund abortion through their healthcare coverage – without fear of reprisal or impending lawsuits by those seeking to forward the Obama administration’s progressive pro-abortion agenda.

Endorsing Trump

Realizing the critical need to replace the late former SCOTUS Justice Scalia in the upcoming months with another Supreme Court justice who will honor the religious freedom that America’s Founding Fathers intended centuries ago, Green unabashedly declared his endorsement of Trump to become the next U.S. president.

The conservative billionaire from Oklahoma concluded his column by encouraging other Americans to follow his lead and vote a person into the Oval Office who will champion their right to express their faith and live out their religious beliefs according to their conscience.

“For Americans who value freedom of religion, we must elect a president who will support a Supreme Court that upholds not only this freedom, but all that have emanated from it,” Green urged. “That president is Donald Trump.”
