Democrats on Tuesday introduced legislation proposing the construction of a monument honoring Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Capitol Hill.
Bills were introduced in both the House and Senate calling for a monument “in a place of prominence within the U.S. Capitol Complex” to honor Ginsburg, who died last September after serving 27 years on the Supreme Court.
The legislation also requires that the Joint Committee of Congress on the Library consider selecting an artist from “underrepresented demographic groups” to create the monument.
The House bill was sponsored by co-chairs of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, Reps. Jackie Speier, D-Calif.; Lois Frankel, D-Fla.; and Brenda Lawrence, D-Mich., as well as Reps. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas and Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill.
“Justice Ginsburg was a trailblazer and inspiration who spent her career fighting for gender equality and standing up for women’s rights,” said Frankel. “A monument to her in our Capitol will allow future visitors to recognize and reflect upon her remarkable contributions.”
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., introduced a companion bill in the Senate alongside 15 other senators.
In her statement, Klobuchar noted that there are presently five sculptures and one painting honoring former Supreme Court Justices at the Capitol.
“The Capitol is our most recognizable symbol of Democracy, a place where people from across our country have their voices represented and heard,” said Klobuchar. “It is only fitting that the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives honor [Ginsburg’s] life and service by establishing a monument in the Capitol.”
Ginsburg, a liberal justice known for challenging social norms and using her intellect to win consensus among her peers, died of complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer at the age of 87.

a statue of lord bader posing with emperor of the dark side on the death star.
This will give antifa and blm another statue to tear down and deface. Also, with regard to Ruth, she was nothing but a communist who despised our Constitution.
IMO Antifa/blm will ERECT A SHRINE around it..
The fall of the Roman empire began when imagined heroes were given high offices, emoluments and monuments for just showing up, instead of sacrificing themselves for others. Ginsberg was a trailblazer alright,,, that led THE PEOPLE into the wilderness of partial birth abortions, sale of fetal human body parts, imaginary gender equality, and social denial of reality. Her statue will have to be politically incorrectly designed to edify her whiteness, so the Pidgeon droppings will blend in and won’t be noticed by real people who understand real social solutions.
How about doing something important , like stopping illegal aliens crossing our borders with the Chinese virus Covid and turning them loose in the USA. Stupid, very stupid.
HEAVEN forbid they do something, that PUTS AMERICANS first.. How dare you suggest they do that…
Nothing should have the name of any government official on it, and no further statutes should be erected to anyone ever in government.
Gag a maggot and drive a dog off a gut wagon.
I’m sure it’ll get canceled by the snowflakes. After that find out RBG had a past…
Tear it down. It offends me. Where’s my fluffy I need to pet it.
She was a nice person, yes. But, why her? If I’m not mistaken, she wasn’t the first female Justice of the SC.
No, nada, nope, forget it and not worth the cost/money or time
IMO that’s why they WANT TO do it.. TO waste YET MORE OF OUR hard earned tax dollars.
Not to mention 2/3 rds of it will filter down to the democrat communist occupier party coffer.
I do not think politicians should use public funds to erect monuments to their appointed enablers.
She was quoted in her later years saying that the Constitution is outdated and should be thrown away.
Too bad for you, Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg, but the Constitution lasted longer than you did.
With how the left’s shredding it, day in and day out.. IT DIDN’T outlast her that much…
Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s only claim to fame is she died while still on the Supreme Court because she delayed retiring in hopes that a Democrat president would be able to pick her replacement.
RBG is not some great hero worthy of being immortalized. If some group wants to raise money for a statue, that is fine with me. The taxpayers should not get stuck with having to pay for a statue for her. By the way, what about a statue remembering the millions of dead babies who were slaughtered by the abortion industry? That was the only industry RBG and her liberal colleagues supported.
That’s why for a LONG TIME<i've felt NO position in the fed govt, should be life long..
The communists just LOVE erecting monuments to themselves…
Lady Justice stands for balance. She should not be replaced by anyone who stands for party.
Just another spray paint target for the left wing who views vandalism as “freedom of speech”.
