robinson_mugshotAnother shooting has occurred which is similar to the one in Ferguson, Missouri. If you haven’t heard about it yet, you certainly will. Why? Because once again the media are jumping on board and making this all about race. It’s the white cop vs. the black teenager… all over again. And the media have responded with their predictable and destructive narrative that this was a racially motivated shooting.

So here’s what happened according to police scanner audio and reports gathered so far. Nineteen-year-old Tony Robinson, who was already convicted of a felony armed home invasion, was being sought “as a suspect in a possible battery, and had run wildly through traffic.” Officer Matt Kenny responded to the call, and entered the apartment containing Robinson:

Authorities say Officer Matt Kenny shot and killed the 19-year old Robinson in the early evening Mar.6, after Robinson punched the officer in the head, staggering him. Authorities say Robinson was in an apartment unit at 1125 Williamson Street. Madison Police officials say before the shooting, Robinson was being sought as a suspect in a possible battery, and had run wildly through traffic.

So, that’s what happened as least according to preliminary accounts. Officer Kenny was not out looking for someone to shoot, and the suspect was not the choirboy that the media will certainly paint him out to be. As noted at TheSmokingGun.com, Robinson “pleaded guilty last year to armed robbery and recently began serving a three-year probation term for that felony conviction, court records show.”

Robinson was arrested last April following an armed home invasion at a Madison residence, according to police records. Cops were called to the scene around 6 AM by a neighbor who “spotted several men, one of them armed with a long gun, entering an apartment building,” according to a police report.

Police arrived at the home “just as the armed robbery was ending” and a group of suspects was fleeing “with electronics and other property.” Cops subsequently recovered a shotgun and a facsimile handgun used during the robbery, as well as some of the stolen property.

Robinson was one of five suspects (each of whom was 18 at the time of their arrest) busted for the home invasion.

What’s appalling in this case is that Robinson pleaded guilty to armed robbery, and faced no jail time. None. He was given probation. How can that happen?

So, there’s your suspect. Next up is the chief of the Madison police department. What has he done? He’s come out and apologized for the shooting! As reported by The Cap Times, Police Chief Mike Koval issued an apology, writing, “The police are part of this community—and we share this sense of loss. I have stated as much to representatives of his family, in statements to the press, and to our work force. Reconciliation cannot begin without my stating “I am sorry,” and I don’t think I can say this enough. I am sorry. I hope that, with time, Tony’s family and friends can search their hearts to render some measure of forgiveness.”

What is the purpose of this? Now some may say that it’s just the “nice” or “appropriate” or “polite” thing to do, but perhaps it has more to do with people being scared to death to appear racist in any form or fashion even though that racism is manufactured by the media and politicians. In Ferguson, Michael Brown attacked a police officer. He punched him and went for the officer’s gun. In this case, we have a similar report. And yet the police chief is apologizing?

Where’s the apology from Michael Brown’s family? Where’s the statement saying that they are sorry for raising a son who would rob a store, resist arrest, and attack a police officer. Will we get an apology from Tony Robinson’s family. Will they provide a statement to the people whose home was robbed at gun point by Robinson and his friends? Will they acknowledge that Robinson attacked a police officer and that’s why he died? I guess we’ll see as the case plays out.

In the mean time, there will likely many stories written by so-called “journalists” or “reporters” that have nothing to do with the facts of the case and everything to do with some kind of racial agenda. Check out this Associated Press story written by Scott Bauer. In it, the “reporter” immediately suggests that the Robinson shooting was all part of a large racial problem in Madison. This is the second paragraph of the story:

But the fatal shooting of an unarmed young biracial man by a white police officer in the heart of one of the city’s most liberal neighborhoods is forcing a renewed discussion about the racial divide in a community where African-Americans make up 7 percent of the population but account for a disproportionate share of arrests, incarcerations and children in poverty.

Forcing a renewed discussion about the racial divide? This shooting just happened a few days ago, and now it’s some, big racial issue? Come on!

The “reporter” wrote about disproportionate arrests and incarcerations of blacks. (As if every activity must be represented according to the population breakdown. Hello… can you say NBA?!?!) The “reporter” did not mention actual crime statistics. He did not mention that X robberies were by whites, and Y were by blacks, and Z were by hispanics. Nope… none of that. Just some reference to arrests, but the implication was clear: blacks were getting arrested simply because they were black.

Other statistics are even more striking. The percentage of black children living in poverty in Madison was 58 percent over a three-year period ending in 2013, compared with 5 percent for white children. Nationally, 38 percent of black children were in poverty over that time.

Student test scores, juvenile and adult arrests rates, incarceration rates and graduation rates all show massive gaps between whites and blacks.

Please, please read through news reports carefully. The other point that was not mentioned in the AP story was the criminal record of the suspect. It was completely left out! The so-called “reporter” was telling his own story, and that is a disservice to us all.
