God has blessed America greatly. Because of the sacrifices of people throughout our nation's colorful history, we now have freedom of speech and religion, a Constitution that establishes justice and a Bill of Rights that guarantees the freedom to assemble and have a voice in government. These 'blessings of liberty' are what makes America the dream of many people all around the world.

America is an awesome country. Filled with wonderful people who are unafraid to defend freedom and give their lives for it. People who are committed to using the talents and abilities God has given them to make this country all that it can be. This country is filled with incredible men and women who have gone beyond our countries borders to make America the hope of many nations across the world. It is because of these amazing people that America has remained united and survived natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and wars; and it is only because of these true Americans that this country continues to thrive and be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

To be an American means many things. It is not based on color of skin, religion, or the political party to which you pledge allegiance. Being an American is about taking advantage of the freedoms God has given us to build our country up, and accepting the responsibility to defend the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Being an American means letting your voice be heard. Whether it is casting a ballot on Election Day, writing a letter to a senator, or running for office, the contribution of every person makes a difference in the end. If we do not use this freedom we have no right to complain about the direction this country is taking.

Being an American requires the courage to stand up for what is right, just, and true. Why should we have these freedoms if we take them for granted and do not stick up for them when they are under attack? Justice will not remain if we never take a stand against injustice. Freedom will not last either, unless it is defended.

Being an American means upholding the laws of this land. The Constitution was written to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty. As the supreme law of the land, all other laws must be aligned with it. In order for America to survive as a country, this law should be respected and followed.

Being an American is about lending a helping hand to our neighbors in a time of need. After the tragedies of September eleventh and Hurricane Katrina, there was an outpouring of support from people all across the United States who were willing to give of their time to help in any way that they possibly could.

Being an American means more than living in the Western Hemisphere. Americans are people that care about each other and work hard everyday to make sure that this country always guarantees liberty and justice for all.
