It only took a few short months of complete Democrat control of Washington for the American people to realize that they made a terrible mistake. Yes, the Republicans currently in office had gone astray. But rather than working at the grassroots and primary level to get better Republicans, voters turned to the Democrats. And look what we are getting... massive deficits... government control of banks, automobile companies, and quite possibly the health care industry. More taxes and less power for each and every American.

That's what the Democrats want to deliver, but the American people have had enough. With the election of Republican governors in New Jersey and Virginia just a few months ago, voters were already sending a message. However, that message is nothing compared to what's happening now. In a race for the Massachusetts Senate seat that was held by Edward Kennedy, Republican Scott Brown is not only making it a race, but he can actually win!

On Tuesday, Massachusetts voters will head to the polls to elect Kennedy's replacement. The race is between Mass. State Sen. Scott Brown and the state's liberal Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley.

As noted in a recent column by Michelle Malkin:

Coakley, the Bay State's attorney general, has campaigned to replace the late Sen. Kennedy on a law-and-order platform. But she has consistently turned a blind eye to both. When a top aide to Boston Mayor Tom Menino was caught deleting thousands of e-mails in violation of public records law last fall, Coakley punted. She has siphoned $25,000 out of her state campaign fund for a poll on her federal Senate bid; used another $24,000 from her state account to pay Beltway political consultants advising her on the Senate campaign; and reportedly used a secret asset sale pact between her state and federal campaign committees to use state campaign funds to purchase a fundraising database, redesign her website and obtain $6,000 worth of campaign paraphernalia with her Senate logo.

And it goes on and on.

State Sen. Scott Brown is running a campaign that should resonate well with the voters of Massachusetts and every other American who is concerned about what is going on in Washington:

  • Government is too big and that the federal stimulus bill made government bigger instead of creating jobs
  • Taxes are too high and are going higher if Congress continues with its out-of-control spending
  • The historic amount of debt we are passing on to our children and grandchildren is immoral
  • Power concentrated in the hands of one political party, as it is here in Massachusetts, leads to bad government and poor decisions
  • A strong military and vigorous homeland defense will protect our interests and security around the world and at home
  • All Americans deserve health care, but we shouldn't have to create a new government insurance program to provide it

Great platform! But here's what's amazing. It looks like Scott can actually win!

Political analyst Charlie Cook tells National Review Online that "he's 'convinced' that Republican Scott Brown 'really might win' the upcoming special election for U.S. Senate in the Bay State. Brown, he says, has run a 'flawless, very smart campaign' while his opponent, Democrat Martha Coakley, has been 'overly cautious' and run an 'awful campaign.'"

A Rasmussen Reports poll published on Tuesday showing Coakley with 49% of the vote and Brown with 47%. A similar poll by Rasmussen just a week earlier had Coakley leading 50% to 41%. What a difference a week makes.

And now, on Friday, the Washington Examiner is quoting a "well-connected Democrat strategist" as saying that the "bottom has fallen out of Coakley's poll numbers."

In her own polling, Coakley is said to be around five points behind Republican Scott Brown. "If she's not six or eight ahead going into the election, all the intensity is on the other side in terms of turnout," the Democrat says. "So right now, she is destined to lose." Intensifying the gloom, the Democrat says, is the fact that the same polls showing Coakley falling behind also show President Obama with a healthy approval rating in the state. "With Obama at 60 percent in Massachusetts, this shouldn't be happening, but it is," the Democrat says.

The story notes a Suffolk University poll released on Thursday that shows Brown with a four-point lead, 50% to 46%.

This race is crucial! Not only do we need to do everything we can to help Scott Brown's campaign, but if he does win, the Democrats are ready to delay his seating until after the health care vote. As noted in an AP story on GOPUSA, "Massachusetts' top election official says it could take weeks to certify the results of the upcoming U.S. Senate special election. That delay could let President Barack Obama preserve a key 60th vote for his health care overhaul even if the Republican who has vowed to kill it wins Democrat Edward M. Kennedy's former seat."

This is THE battle. If Brown can win, he not only sends a message across the country, but he immediately affects the balance of power in the U.S. Senate.

Please do everything you can to help!

++ Elect Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate

Last I heard, Obama was considering a visit to Massachusetts to help his Demonrat (I spelled it that way intentionally) buddy. Please, please, please do it Mr President....you or any emissary you might send are just the tonic needed to give Brown a bump of another couple points over Coakley. Her approval numbers are better than yours Obama but I can't imagine why.....she's pretty soft on crime for an Attorney General (even with pervert cops)!

This is MY "hope and change"!

But I know that the Dems will use this to try and paint the Republicans as "obstructionists" and try and demonize those "mean old Republicans" in the November elections.

Does Michael Steele have the wherewithal to counter that? Who knows.

Will mega-RINOs Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins be made to stay in line with the party and get with the program? Who knows.

Does the RNC have the guts to get rid of Snowe and Collins if they turn traitor? Who knows.

I pray Scott Brown wins and wins by at least 10 points, however, my fear is that the cheating Democrats will use ACORN and SEIU to find car trunks filled with illegal ballots several days after the official election date and stuff the ballot box in a re-count like they did with that idiot Al Frankin in Minnesota last election. It happened before in the state of Washington also. The Black Panthers got away with their strong arm tatics because Eric Holder, Obama and the National Democrat machine is protecting them. People in Massachusetts best wake up and vote right (for Scott Brown) or their state and our nation will be lost forever. 1 vote will make it or brake it.

Brown seems to be a solid candidate based upon the exerpts in this column and the clips I saw of his debate with Coakly. Yet I got an email from Sen. Jim DeMint representing the Senate Conservatives Fund which states that "SCF has not endorsed Scott Brown because he does not meet all of our criteria." The email infers that SCF does not endorse Brown because he is "not 100% Pro-Life." THIS BOTHERS ME IMMENSELY.

The SCF is an independent organization and as such, they have the right to do as they please. But good Lord people, when are we conservatives going to WISE UP and quit hanging our hat on that single plank of the platform?? I ABHOR abortion and I will gladly do what I can to forward the prevention of this heinous practice. BUT MY RESPONSIBILITY STARTS WITH MY OWN KIDS. Like so many things in this life, if we eliminate the demand we won't have to worry about the legistlation.

As for candidate selection, I'd suggest following Glenn Beck's lead and if a candidate meets 9 of 12 criteria (or something of the sort), then we ALL stand behind him or her.

I live in Maine and have been in Mass several times this week and it is a buzz over Scott Brown. And the Dems are freaking out! As usual they have taken the mud slinging rode as they know fully well that if they actually put out what Coakley actually stood for she'd be a dead duck. When this is happening in one of the most liberal states in the country it really shows how mad the American people are about this socialist lunacy the dems are pushing. But, remember everyone it takes money to win elections so, no matter how small it is please do your part. This isn't just about Massachusetts.

Sorry Folks. I don't care how far ahead this Scott Brown is. Dems have vote fraud down to a science and have made it so they will retain power for decades. Why do you think they are so arrogant and not caring if the voters know they are corrupt ? Now you know why. Look to the new laws that they will pass in the next few weeks on what will be called "National Registration". It will be completely fraudulant and they will make it sound like they are doing the right thing. NOT! We ALL need to focus on the voting process as Stalin once said: "It doesn't matter who votes, it only matters who counts the votes." This means our system is truly broken.

    Hey Tucker,

You are such a sane voice of conservatism and I couldn't agree with you more. I, too, abhor abortion but c'mon, Reoublicans can't continue to provide such narrow guidelines of conservatism if we hope to regain Congress. We need strong, charismatic conservative leaders who are committed to smaller government instrusion, fiscal conservatism, free enterprise, breaks for small businesses, strong defense and CUTTING government spending, particularly on these lame pork barrel projects advocated by most Dems. Earmarks have skyrocketed under the Obama Administration, despite his campaign rhetoric. As you pointed out, deal breakers shouldn't be hinged on one or two differences within the party.

ConservativeInCA and LMBast: Thank you both. We have "divide and conquer" strategies working against us every day and coming at us from all angles - business leaders, race relations, special interest groups, unions, community organizers, etc. - and this president/administration/congress are MASTERS at this, constantly keeping the American people blaming and hating SOMEONE. This keeps us in small, manageable finger-pointing groups that can be easily manipulated. While this should be OBVIOUS to most in this country it's apparently not, which is why it continues to work. So....

It becomes incumbent upon conservatives TO BE SMARTER THAN OUR OPPONENTS!! ARE YOU LISTENING MICHAEL STEELE??? ARE YOU LISTENING JIM DEMINT??? Chess is won by thinking several moves AHEAD of where the game currently stands and right now Team Obama is kicking our BUTTS because we're still b*tching about losing our knight two moves ago. Meanwhile, they're three moves from declaring checkmate and what are WE worried about?? Whether a VIABLE WINNING CANDIDATE is 100% pro-life! Are you kidding me?? WE ARE ALLOWING THE SAME DIVIDE AND CONQUER STRATEGY TO PULL US APART INTERNALLY!!

Say what you want about the Dems but at least they don't eat their own.

And BTW, for those of you who object to my stand on this, do you know what it would actually take to turn around Roe V Wade?? Brown ain't your man. Where you should've made your stand was when Obama installed Sotomayor on the Supreme Court as our Republican representatives and senators stood by mostly silent! If you want overthrow Roe V Wade, focus your energy on the Supreme Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the liberal lifers who bench those positions, NOT on Brown. C'mon....

Kim Costanzo: TOTALLY agree with you about that possibility! I have been saying for some time that I believe the Democrats know something we don’t, that all the anger generated towards them over stimulus, bailouts, corporate takeovers, trillion dollar deficits, and healthcare wasn’t phasing them because they knew something we didn’t. I postulated that the 2010 elections were NOT going to go as expected for any combination of three reasons: The institution of immigration reform (adding 12 million Hispanic voters to the Democrat register), ACORN and its affiliates “getting out the vote” (i.e., voter fraud), and the court systems tying up the results indefinitely of those races in question.

Sapient on this very site highlighted an article in The American Thinker in which writer James Simpson makes a case for the same concern. It ran a chill down my spine because although my line of thinking was squarely on target, the scheme Simpson outlines is easier and more plausible for the Dems to implement. It's called "universal voter registration." Read it for yourself and get ready for the battle to come….

It is inconceiveable to me why anyone would support a Democrat at this time. Regardless of how good the healthcare bill may be (no one has seen it), the fact that it is being created behind closed doors is enough to reject the antics of the liberals. Our Congress works best when the Democrats and Republicans are balanced and the Republicans actually act as conservatives. We need open dialogue and transparency that does not exists now. If we had a Republican President and a majority in the House and Senate, the power hungry politicians could do the same thing by passing legislation behind closed doors and it would be just as offensive then as it is now. We did not elect a King or dictator that can do whatever he wants. They are all supposed to be representing us. Take advantage of the circumstance that exists and elect Brown to start the change to balance the power in DC.

Tucker, I don't mean to be disrespectful as I agree with alot that you said. However, I also got that email from Jim DeMint. That was correct in that they said they couldn't support him but they do want him to win. They were encouraging people to him not away from him. It is also alright to be passionate.

Here's a thought my friends, for all who are elated that we just might pick up that crucial, critical vote needed to sustain a filibuster and thwart this abomination....

    I can almost hear the relief..."dodged a bullet"...whew!!!

    Think again.

Sure, the numbers add up...that is, unless someone with an R after their name defects and joins the democrats, then we still lose--and America still loses. Not only has it been done, it has been done consistently. Enter the RINO.

So, if you think surviving a fire fight in one piece, is great...realize that it only matters if your team is all YOUR team....that the sound you hear behind you is someone unsheathing their blade to defend you, rather than take a stab at your back.

Mark my words. We MUST determine who is own our side and who isn't, for times just like these.

    God bless
    Sapient

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague." --Cicero.

And the funniest part of this race?
There will be a Billion + $ spent on both campaigns. a Boon to Mass economy.
THEN Mid year 2010, Obama will use the uptick in Mass Economy numbers (from the huge campaign expenditures) as a sign that his Stim Bill worked! Watch and see, it will happen!

Ever notice how only Democrats are so wildly popular that they raise the dead to vote for them? LBJ had that same phenomenon here in Texas.
    Amazing.
