State Department Bails Out on Internet Video Excuse

By Bobby Eberle

What is happening with Barack Obama's administration? After the brutal attacks in Benghazi, Libya, everyone from Obama on down had the same story about why four Americans were killed. No, it was not a terrorist attack. It was simply a spontaneous uprising due to an anti-muslim video. That's what we were told, again and again. Then, we learned that it was a terrorist attack, and that everyone in the Obama administration knew it was. Now, the State Department is breaking away from Obama, saying that State Department officials never thought the cause was the video. What's going on?

Fox News is reporting that the State Department has stepped back (or JUMPED) from earlier statements regarding the events in Libya.

The State Department denied Tuesday it ever concluded that the deadly consulate attack Sept. 11 in Libya was an unplanned outburst prompted by an anti-Islam movie, despite public statements early on by some in the Obama administration suggesting that was the case.

The Obama administration used the film explanation for more than a week after assailants killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. Most notably, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, said in several TV interviews five days after the attack that it appeared to be "spontaneous" violence spinning out of protests of the film.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland backed up Rice's statements in a press briefing a day later: "I would simply say that ... the comments that Ambassador Rice made accurately reflect our government's initial assessment."

Here's a story from Tuesday on Fox, before Wednesday's hearing.

In Wednesday's testimony, Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, who was the head of military security team in Libya, said the consulate in Benghazi "never had the forces it needed to protect itself." The Denver Post reports that according to Wood's testimony, "U.S. security was so weak that in April, only one U.S. diplomatic security agent was stationed in Benghazi."

Security was pathetic. Is that possibly why Obama and other officials pushed the Internet video excuse for over a weak? After all, if security was so bad, and requests for additional security were denied, and the attacks were actually acts of terror, then that would suggest that Barack Obama and his team are not only incompetent but also derelict in their duty.

ForeignPolicy.com reports that the State Department now acknowledges that prior to the Benghazi attacks there "was no protest outside the compound." Hmmmm... it's hard to have a spontaneous uprising if there is no uprising, eh?

In a conference call with reporters Tuesday, two senior State Department officials gave a detailed accounting of the events that lead to the death of Amb. Chris Stevens and three other Americans. The officials said that prior to the massive attack on the Benghazi compound by dozens of militants carrying heavy weaponry, there was no unrest outside the walls of the compound and no protest that anyone inside the compound was aware of.

In fact, Stevens hosted a series of meetings on the compound throughout the day, ending with a meeting with a Turkish diplomat that began at 7:30 in the evening, and all was quiet in the area.

"The ambassador walked guests out at 8:30 or so; there was nobody on the street. Then at 9:40 they saw on the security cameras that there were armed men invading the compound," a senior State Department official said. "Everything is calm at 8:30 pm, there is nothing unusual. There had been nothing unusual during the day outside."

The State Department denied requests for additional security, and Americans died. What is Barack Obama doing? As The Weekly Standard reports, Obama stated at a fundraiser this week that "al Qaeda is on its heels." Is he serious? How about if he tells that to U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. Oh that's right... he can't!

The Obama administration completely dropped the ball. Then, there was a massive effort from Obama on down to mislead the American people as to the cause. An Internet video? No. Yet that's what they said, even when they knew that story was a lie.

So why is the State Department stepping back from the story now?

We have and are witnessing the ‘weakest’ excuse of a POTUS that our nation has ever had and why the MSM is so much in love with his Marxist / socialist agenda is beyond me. He has never been called on the ‘carpet’ for his incompetence and negligence and never been held accountable up till the presidential debate when he had no rational ‘reasoning’ in his responses. During the next debate when he is questioned about foreign policy and given a opportunity to explain the ‘mission’ coverup of Libya’s American ambassador and aides being murdered; I wonder what his response will be?

You can fool some of the people all the time
And all the people some of the time
But you can’t fool all the people all the time

What else are they wishing away, with their head in the sand?

Could Hillary possibly be sabotaging the CINC? What could possibly be her motive? Didn’t she authorize the security reduction at the embassy before the 9/11 attack?

Whose going to answer these questions? I just hope it’s not Jay Carney.

This all goes to Bill Clinton’s high endorsement of Obama at the convention. We know that Clinton despises Obama, but Clinton also knows if Romney/Ryan are elected, they will make positive changes to get the country on the right track. That will leave Hillary out in the cold in 2016, because she will have a tough time, if nominated , winning against a successful republican president. Hillary still clings to the hope of occupying the White House following the 2016 election and she needs to burn a lot of bridges between herself and Obama between now and then.
Democrats will throw anyone under the bus to gain the power of the White House.

if Obama’s re-elected, tho, and completely runs the country into the ground Hillary doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance because I don’t think the people would elect another Democrat to replace one that cluster-f***ed the country so badly. seems to me like no matter how you slice it, Hillary’s time is past.

Although it may feel good to say, those who believe Mr. Obama is “incompetent” or “stupid” are whistling past the graveyard. Once you get clear on the actual goals he had upon taking office, the evidence shows he has achieved most of what he set out to do.

    – He has managed to burn through a big chunk of this country’s last remaining credit, and destabilize the US Dollar to the point where a currency/interest-rate crisis is not only possible, but plausible well within the Constitutional limits of his second term in office. Make no mistake: this is his single biggest priority, and the key to effecting the “transformation” of our republic he has been seeking from the beginning. (Caveat, very few on either side of the aisle realized just how radical the “change” he had in mind would be.)

    – While calling it ‘stimulus’, he has in fact been able to divert most of the $1-Trillion in gratuitous spending to his favoured constituencies: organized labor, welfare, and government employment.

    – He passed a massive new entitlement which will allow him to further expand government, and for all intents, subjugate medium-to-large enterprises in the private sector, forcing them to beg (pay-to-play) for waivers of onerous regulations, and risk sanctions if they continue to support Republican office holders.

    – He now has the authority to designate any US citizen as a threat to national security, and put them in a military prison without recourse. (No wonder he decided to keep Gitmo open.)

    – He has conditioned the electorate to accept government by Presidential fiat, and thereby eviscerated the power of Congress to the point where even if Republicans gain a majority in the Senate, he can govern with nearly a free-hand for the next four years.

Did he really “drop the ball” on Benghazi? I think Mr. Obama’s narcissism and megalomania has advanced to the point where he bridles at anything he perceives as “obligatory Presidential behaviour”. His failure to properly secure the state-department mission in Libya was his way of showing those around him that they cannot impose boundaries on the choices he makes. He may not have thought about it that way, but it’s entirely consistent with his narcissistic profile, as well as various other things he’s not-done:

    – Blowing off his daily national security briefings, and just reading the summaries on his iPad. You’d think “national security” would be taken so seriously he’d toe-the-line on that one, but for a man with his psychopathology, that’s exactly why he feels he needs to make the point.

    – Suborning a series of national security leaks which materially damaged US intelligence gathering, and undermined covert actions against terrorists and hostile governments.

    – Allowing a US drone aircraft to fall into the hands of Iran (rather than authorizing the military to destroy the UAV when they recommended it, and easily could have).

    – Refusing to secure our border with Mexico, or take any action at all against armed insurgents who now occupy large areas of the Sonora desert in Arizona (amongst other locations).

    – Scorning not only all Republican leaders, but (apparently) he refuses to deign to collaborate/negotiate even with many in his own party. I have read some reports which suggest he even ignores several members of his cabinet.

As I see it, the only good news for this country is the fact that the circumstances surrounding the tragic events in Benghazi are so extreme, and so inexcusable — as they come out over the next few weeks, they may just turn the tide in favour of Gov. Romney, and thereby save this nation from disaster. We can hope…

Ambassador Stephenson was a known homosexual and sending him to a Muslim country is the equivalent to homicide. Obama knew that. Wonder what Stephenson had on Obama that he was trying to get him murdered for?
As soon as we come to understand that Obama has no loyalty to this country, has absolutely no inhibitions, and is capable of absolutely anything, the sooner we will understand why we have to get this man OUT of OUR White House and OUT of OUR country.

As I understand it, Ambassador Stevens went out of his way to get assigned to Libya, and was personally committed to helping the Libyan people get rid of their dictator.

However, Obama’s decision to leave the consulate (and 40 American citizens) effectively unprotected is inexplicable by any measure, other than his sociopathic disregard for anyone other than himself (as you quite rightly stated in your post).

I’m sure Ambassador “Stevens” was a wonderful person whose motivations may indeed have been altruistic. Or that information may have been just more Obama propaganda since it seems to have come from the State Dept. only ‘after’ Stevens’ death.

Either way, Knowing even the basic tenets of the Islamic faith makes sending a known homosexual to a Muslim country homicide. Just more sociopathic treason.

The sources are from the Chicago gay community and are quoted in numerous online articles including some written before the Libyan attack. Google “Ambassador Sevens, homoxsexual.”

Also google “Obama gay bath house” and Larry Sinclair book.

I never believe a few erratic posts, but there’s too many and by too many qualified individuals not to believe something was going on. With Obama, it could be anything. He has no inhibitions.

I have read and I believe that the people applauding Obama at his every stop are paid supporters.
He had three large black buses built in Canada and the buses are transported, along with the rest of the Presidencial motorcade to each site prior to his visit. It is rumored that he transports his paid supporters with him on those buses.
There are numerous sites where even liberals have commented how they were unable to get into his so-called public appearances due to all types of ridiculous excuses.
I beleive his public appearances are scripted televison events.
Anyone watch “Wag the Dog?” The film was cleaned up before it went to DVD, but the original show was a hilarious instructional manual for staging public political events (A war in the case of the movie).

A COMPELLING REASON NOT TO VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA

I believe strongly that the Republicans should use the debate as the basis for a compelling reason not to vote for Obama. Specifically: Many of President Obama’s spokes people (apologists) in trying to defend his dismal showing blamed it on the fact that over the past four years he has seldom been challenged as he surrounded himself with “yes men” both in the Admin and mainstream media. As such, he was out of practice and on the odd occasion he was challenged he simply walked out of a press conference or bloviated until he could call on a friendly with the canned questions.

It is patently clear that if challenged, as was evident in his interview with the Spanish network or occasionally by Jake Tapper or the Fox guy he becomes irritated, petulant and very angry and moves quickly to change the subject. Last Wednesday he could not do that…he had to face the music for 90 minutes. The RNC should hammer the message…in today’s world there are many leaders and groups that are hostile to the US and cannot be addressed with a hug and good word. I would stress to the US voter, using his spokes people’s own words that President Obama cannot deal with being confronted. Even the Harvard mouse Krugman, tried to spin that President Obama does not like controversy and is the great healer. What a joke….he is the most divisive President ever. President Obama has also shown weakness when dealing with world leaders. As simple message…In today’s increasingly volatile world with highly visible hatred for the US, “DO YOU WANT A STRONG LEADER WHO HAS SHOWN THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER HE CAN TAKE THE HEAT, ADDRESS DIFFICULT CHALLENGES AND WORK SUCCESSFULLY WITH ALL PARTIES TO GET THINGS DONE OR A BULLY, CAPITULATOR, DIVIDER WHO CAVES WHEN CHALLENGED TO LEAD THE COUNTRY?” Any voter who would vote for President Obama except those who want the handouts, are in effect setting this country up for years of misery and constant threats from outside. Even those who want the handouts should realize that eventually you run out of people to tax, people who will lend you money or ink to print more money and that their best hope is a party that prizes free enterprise, the rule of law and strong economic growth. I believe a message that focused on leadership using his own people’s words and actions to tell the truth, should be an immediate dis-qualifier for another four years.

Couldn’t see his pupils, but it was most likely not cocaind. More likely marijuana or heroin. I emailed Bill Maher who noted the same on his show. tmom: If you read the book “Confidence Men”, by Ron Suskind, Obama’s economic adviser Lawrence Summers described the situation in the White House as “Home Alone”, meaning: Obama was the kid, and they (his advisers) were, in-effect his surrogate parents, charged with keeping the house from burning down. Even though Summers and Emanuel etc. are gone, I assume that’s still the case in that Obama relies upon others to instantiate his intuitive but abstract policy edicts in the real world.

However, to suggest that there is some higher-power, svengali-like figure acting as Obama’s puppet-master ignores Obama’s obvious dictatorial instincts, and all-consuming narcissism. Hitler was also highly dependent upon the practical organizational skills of his inner-circle, and considered singularly inept as Commander-in-Chief of the German military. However, he remained in complete control of the Nazi government right up to the minute before he shot himself in the head.

Anyone who underestimates Obama’s potential makes a big mistake. I don’t expect to breathe a sigh of relief until a week or so after Mitt Romney is inaugurated (god willing).

From this sound clip, one of the most remarkable statements is by Carney, “…we were not aware of any actionable intelligence…” which is completely ridiculous. I am in Egypt now, and have been throughout the entire Egyptian and Libyan revolutions, and since the death of Ghaddafi, it is well known and broadcast on all of North African local news media about the militia groups forming, buying, selling, and smuggling all of the NATO weapons through neighboring countries. It is now, and has been one of the biggest problems in the Northern Sinai for almost 1 year now. As well, it could have been easily speculated for this to happen in advance. Even my husband speculated, during the Libyan revolution while it was still ongoing, “Wow! When this is over, they’re going to have a lot of weapons in Libya, and it’s going to be a big problem.”

I can’t believe that any of the American population would believe that these were “spontaneous acts”. I call ********…you don’t skip out on security briefings the week before Septemeber 11th. In my opinion he didn’t go because he was FOR an attack on the US and if he was in the “loop” he would have to do something to stop it! He probably kept looking at his watch wondering when are they going to do it. Romney has my vote as well as all those I associate with.

    Obama and Benghazi

A drone strike killed Abu Yahya al- Libi in Pakistan
Given Barack Obama’s fetish to apologize to our enemies, it is my thoughts that, “The Apologizer And Chief” asked Libya if they would accept his apology for killing al Qaeda No. 2 leader, who was from Libya. I think the Libyans said no, but will trade blood for blood. Ambassador Chris Stephens was that blood. Obama provide the cover, by not allowing security for the Consulate in Libya.
The movie trailer Innocence of Muslims was probably found by one of Obama’s advisors and alerted him to watch it. Given Mr. Obama’s Islamic background training in Indonesia, he was the one who was outraged and used it to cover his trade.

Let us play connect the dots. Go back two decades to the Clinton Administration. Operations ongoing in Somalia. The Commanding General on the ground requested reinforcement with a task force of M1 Abrams Tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles (BFV). He wanted these for use as shock troops, a reaction force, and for the application of overwhelming firepower, if needed. Request denied. Blackhawk Down happened. Rescue forces had to ride in unarmored HUMMWVs and trucks. Lots of dead and wounded American soldiers. SECDEF Les Aspin resigned over this mess, but there were those of us on active duty who believed the decision-maker was in the White House on that one.
Flash forward to 9-11-2012. The Security professionals in Libya and the Middle East asked for additional Marine Guards and weapons because plausible Intel indicated something was up. Request denied by someone in State with sufficient rank to say “NO” to an Ambassador. SECSTATE had to at least be aware of that. Four more dead Americans.
Hillary Clinton forbade the wearing of military uniforms in the WH by the military aides to the President. She protested against the war in Viet Nam while in college. Her disdain for all things military is well-known by all of us who served during the Clinton years. She probably had at least a peripheral part in the Somalia decision (remember that we got 2 for 1, the Bill & Hill show!).
Now Hillary must contend with someone just as avaricious and self-centered as she. Barak Hussein Obama has never hesitated to throw anyone under the bus to save himself – grandmother, Reverend Wright, etc. He is a ruthless politician in the same mold. She is trying to toss him under the bus first. This ought to be good, watching the cat-fight between them.

There are rumors coming out in Washington that many Democrats now want Obama out of the Whitehouse as it is just not working out anywhere. Valarie Jarrett, who actually runs the Whitehouse, is not well liked by the security department, the staff in the Whitehouse, or others that want air time with the President. The Defense Department is losing ground under the Obama administration as did NASA and our space efforts, and that is not going down well with either those in the government or the private defense industry. The Obama administration and their support is beginning to unravel and the rape, torture, and murder of Ambassador Stevens may be the final straw that sets the backlash into play and may turn the election in Romney’s favor and help win it for him.

Well JDZ, that would be a very good explanation for being stonewalled by “all” of congress, and Obama’s game of division between them, and his partisan media propaganda to divide the generally naive public who will buy into it. I really don’t believe the dems and repubs are so against each other in Washington. I believe many of them are friends. There are many democratic senators I would prefer over some republican senators, and vice versa. But by far one of the biggest idiots and most corrupt senators in Congress is the senate majority leader. I happen to like very much Brown of OH, even though I vote in CA. Anyway, I agree with you, and have think his own party in Congress have not been on-board with him since the beginning.

It will be fun to see which is more successful at throwing the other under the bus, Hillary or Barack, the former to save her chances to run in 2016 and the latter to save his reelection this year.

I said at the time of Obama’s 9/12 Rose Garden appearance (because of course he couldn’t be bothered to answer that 3AM phone call), with Hillary at his side, before rushing off to a Vegas fundraiser, that I wondered if she was there as support or to take part, or all, of the blame later. Guess we’ll see.

Yes RME, I totally agree! I have lost my respect for Hillary Clinton after this incident. It is for sure in my mind she does not like Obama, but she did not have to turn into a brown-nose boot-licker to save his re-election bid! I think she has been a pretty decent Sec. of State, and I think she would have been even better if it was not under Obama, and I think she would have been a better president than Obama. (However my favorite choice in 2008 was Romney, but he did not get nominated.) I can imagine how Clinton would have been blamed for costing Obama the presidency if she threw him under the bus before elections. She does not look well these days, and she herself is probably disgusted with Obama. As far as I’m concerned, she has already “thrown herself” under the bus, just like she did in PA during the 2008 dem campaign!

Redsea, I’m not sure if a party can change candidates at the last moment. I guess they could replace Obama with Hilary if they wanted to and that could have been the plan all along. The aparties are not actually governmental agencies, so I suppose they would not come under governmental contrrol.

The Federal Election Commission is a joke. I’m not sure what they do. I thought they would be responsible for vetting candidates, but when I asked about that during the 2007 campaign, I was told that vetting candidates was up to the public — as if we had the capability to investigate candidates.
Apparently no agency checks out candidates for the presidency and I suppose none control what a political party does with its candidates. Ther is so much creativite skuldugery among Obama’s regime and nothing is beneath them. We are just one small country dealing with world powers out to establish world domination.

Sorry, but I don’t see any nefarious conspiracy in declaring this attack was a “spontaneous” outburst by protestors. After the Fast and Furious debacle, it would seem reasonable to believe even the dimmest bulb on the string would conclude some attempt at a similar blunder would explode in their faces. What I do see is a thoroughly incompetent and inept gaggle of amateurs trying with undisquised desperation to cover for disasterous bungling and criminal negligence.
This has been the shameful hallmark of the Obama adminstration and the media fifth column that has covered for him.

I believe there are powers beyond obama in control.obama has been drilled and somewhat brain washed his whole life into believing the free world and capitalism in particular is wrong. These powers (group of wealthy powerful people) are from all around the world and want a One World Govt. Obama is their man to help bring this to pass. It’s been going on for some time now but no one noticed. Obama just speeded things up and now some have taken notice. The US is the only one in their way to keep it from happening. Think about it, the one way to bring down a country is to destroy its economy. obama is on track to do just that. Everything from businesses, jobs, food, gas, military, defense, etc.,etc has been and is becoming affected by obama’s actions. Frustration is erupting all around the country. You see and hear of more and more crime and violence. What better way to keep the people distracted? Once we are out of the picture, once we collapse as a Super power, they can set up their World System. Europe is already on track to collapse. the rest of the world will just jump on board. We lost most of our friends around the world thanks to obama. Who will have our back? Americans will go down fighting because its in our souls to do that. Only God can help us. It sounds like a dismal ending, but who knows, maybe there is still hope.
