Student with Romney Shirt Told to Get Out of Classroom

By Bobby Eberle

What started out as a normal Friday at Charles Carroll High School in Philadelphia turned into another case of liberalism gone wild. A student wearing a Romney/Ryan t-shirt on "dress down day" was told by one of her teachers to either change her shirt or get out of her class. Now, the student is afraid to go back to school, AND... the teacher is still teaching.

As reported by NBC 10 in Philadelphia, 16-year-old Samantha Pawlucy wore a pink Romney/Ryan shirt to school. The day was like any other day until she went to her geometry class.

"The teacher told me to get out of the classroom, I said no," Samantha said.

"She told me to take off my shirt and said that she has another one if I need one. And then the teacher asked me... 'are your parents Republican?' I said, 'I don't know.' She said that's like her wearing a KKK shirt."

Samantha was so embarrassed by the public criticism in front of her classmates that she told her parents she didn't want to return to school.

"I didn't know what to think, I didn't think it was right at all."

In a later meeting, the teacher told Samantha and her parents that it was "just a joke." What kind of joke is this? The teacher, who is black, compared the situation to her wearing a KKK shirt... and somehow that is just a joke? Come on!

View more videos at: http://nbcphiladelphia.com.

Fox News reports that the teacher, Lynette Gaymon, also said that the student cannot wear "a Republican shirt in a Democratic school."

I don't see how anyone can think it's a joke when a teacher confronts a 16-year-old and is told that her shirt is as offensive as wearing a KKK shirt. Welcome to America's school system.

How long are we not going to ‘respond’ to blatant socialism / Marxist / communism? If this was my girl, I would be down at the principal’s office and I would voice MY ire at this BS teacher. I have taken up for my children before and I would do it AGAIN. I would not under any circumstances LET this escapee from the MENTAL WARD defile my child with her MENTAL PROBLEMS.

This teacher does not belong in a classroom. This is disgraceful and she should either be fired(or if she is a good teacher otherwise) be suspended until the new year without pay.Or go to work in a college that loves this behavior. The kkk was way over the top.

What a sad state of affairs that we have socialists teaching our impressionable children.
It’s no wonder that private schools and religious colleges are thriving!
I hope this incident causes parents to re-think allowing their children to attend this school.

well the video from fox states that the teacher tried to write on the students shirt with a red marker? Isn’t that considered assault? The video states that the teacher has been temporarily removed. maybe instead of emailing the principal everyone should email and send letters to the school board and demand they both be terminated the principle (for not firing the teacher) and the teacher (for the assault both verbally and physically of the student? )

Thanks for the address vettaripepc, I sent this message there, and posted it down below, but I am so outraged by this, I dedicate this repost to you:

      Dear Sir or Madam Principal,
      concerning Principles:

You have a “geometry” teacher telling a female student to take her shirt off? That her t-shirt’s message was akin to being align with the KKK (a southern democrat invention, by the way…) simply because the shirt has a pro-Republican message of it. Is that Right? And then said teacher berates her and says after it all it was brought to public attention that it was all just a joke? A JOKE? Really?
The teacher went so far as to say that the school was a “democratic school” and clothes with pro-Republican messages were not allowed (your school does reside in the United States, right?)…Yet, I would certainly correctly guess that there are numerous Republicans in your school district that contribute via their taxes to your and that poor excuse of a geometry teacher’s salary–hmm?
The teacher should at the very least be sanctioned, and be made to publicly apologize to the student and her family in front of the rest of the school, if not at least, in front of the rest of the class, and if she does not have the integrity to realize she is a waste of taxpayer money going toward her salary and resign, then the school district should make an example of her and fire her. This poor excuse has no place in a classroom ever again.
And if YOU do not have the tenacity to do the right thing, I hope that YOU are fired so that someone with more respect for the Constitutrion and the Greatness that is Our Country can do what is right and good for the students who are under your charge and care.
This is disgraceful, and everyone who tries to defend this teacher, and especially this teacher herself, should feel ashamed.
      ASHAMED!

The whole education establishment stinks of liberal indoctrination and fascistic bullying of students who don’t follow the party line, i.e, Republicans. This is not the America I grew up in, and unless people wake up we’re going to find ourselves living in a country more reminiscent of Hitler’s Germany or Stalin’s Russia.

They need to insist that teachers leave their politics at home and don’t try to indoctrinate their students witht their views. What does geometry have to do with the presidential election?

As I have said before, this is what you get when you send your child to a government-run public school. The entire system is corrupt. Public schools do not educate–they INDOCTRINATE. And this teacher is typical of what comes out of departments of education in colleges today. Kids today can’t read, write simple sentences, spell, or solve simple mathematical problems without a calculator. Yet, they know how to put on a condom, get an abortion or birth control pills without parental knowledge or consent, how to “save” the earth, that homosexuality is “normal”, and how white people are to blame for all the ills of society. That is what kids are learning in public schools. Our students rank near the bottom of all nations scholastically. We used to be on top, but not anymore. The entire public school system should be demolished-including all school boards, teacher unions and federations, teachers, and the NEA and all its constituents. Education should be left in the hands of private or parochial schools. Classically trained teachers should be the only ones allowed in a classroom. This incident is only the tip of the iceberg. These marxist-commie-lefties have a definite agenda–and it is insidious and involves your children.

First, I would need to know if the dress code allows political messages on clothes. Our school prohibits skull and crossbones, political sayings and all manner of wording in their dress code.

Secondly, and the biggest issue in my opinion, is this teacher was clearly wrong with saying what she did. She should be punished and an apology issued to the girl and her parents but that is not going to unring this bell. If the shirt was prohibited by school rules she needed to send the student to the principal’s office and not interject her personal views in to the class room. If it is not prohibited in the rules, her actions are even more in error. Where is the City of Brotherly Love?…..

Such a sad state of affairs and I pray we have new direction come November.

This is just another horrifying example of how the left thinks it is invincible. Unless you are in lock-step with them, you are the enemy and they can do what ever they want to you, and just get off with a slap on the wrist, at best. This poor girl probably ended up being juicy gossip in the teacher’s lounge. I am quite sure that conservative students are also persecuted in much more subtle ways. If the teacher doesn’t like the topic of your term paper or disagrees with your conclusions, you run a pretty credible risk of that being reflected in your grade, no matter how well-written the paper. Much of grading is subjective and kids quickly learn what they “have” to say in order to get the grade they deserve. If that doesn’t choke the creativity out of you, I don’t know what does. But then, I guess that’s the point. They don’t want the kids thinking for themselves – they want them indoctrinated.

We are probably considered lower-middle class, but we scraped to educate our kids in parochial schools for this very reason. They were taught about all religions and all political doctrines and allowed to think for themselves. The school was bare-bones, compared to public schools, and yet we ended up with brilliant college graduates and successful adults, who can think for themselves. I know there are very good public school teachers and probably very good public schools, but their hands are often tied by unions and idiotic government regulations. This sad story is only one example of public education run amok. That wretched teacher should be canned, but I’m not holding my breath.

“If I teach you only part of the evidence and you believe it, you have not been taught, you have been indoctrinated. If I tell you all of the evidence and you make a decision, then you have been taught.”

pwpmmp: You make a wonderful point. My parents also were struggling financially when I was growing up. I had gone to public school from grades 4-8 and I was miserable. And that was back when public schools were better! My parents made sure I had the opportunity to get a real education by going to an all-girls’ Catholic high school. They couldn’t afford it, but we scrimped by to pay for the tuition (at that time, it was $25.00 a MONTH). And, I can honestly say that I received a better education in high school than I did in college. What is going on in public schools today is a travesty of justice. Children are being indoctrinated with marxist-communistic ideology. Parents seem oblivious to it. They fool themselves into thinking that “not all public schools are that bad.” My own sister is a public school teacher in a “good” district. It is horrifying what she is forced to teach. And, she is a first grade teacher. The reality of public “education” is all around us. Most of us turn a blind eye because public school is cheap and convenient. There are alternatives to government run schools. And some of them are reasonably priced. You just have to do a little searching to find them.

We have let this kind of thing go on so long that now America has been heavily infiltrated by both communists (by whichever name they want to use) and Muslims (watch The Project on Glen Beck’s DISH channel 212 – but take a Valium first; you will be horrified at how thoroughly saturated virtually every part of our government is, and schools, and ….).

It’s not surprising that some teacher is part of the infiltration. We know our children have been being indoctrinated by communists for decades, and by Muslims for a few years.

Now the infiltration/invasion is so advanced that I doubt if it is possible to stop it, much less reverse it. Certainly not in a mere four years, should Romney defeat Obama.

The NEA is one of the strongest political organizations in this country–only beat out by the AARP. The NEA is a monolithic beast with cyclopean tentacles poisoning every part of American society. To undo what has been done for the past 80 years (even longer), will take a near act of God. But, we have to start somewhere. That teacher is a coward. She apparently cannot tolerate a different view and she won’t own up to her own actions. People like this are teaching our children. I think back to my third grade teacher, my most influential. She was great. I am still amazed at how great of a teacher she was when I think back. She sparked our interest in math, science, history, music, geography, and appreciation of how great the United States is and why. I think I learned more from her in one year than I did in three or four years from other teachers. The real shame is that with how teachers unions have negotiated salaries based on longevity rather than performance, that girl’s teacher would be paid the same as my superstar of a third grade teacher.

You are so right about the long association between the Democrats and the KKK. If that teacher were to go back and review the history of the party, the President she worships so much belongs to, she could be in for a shock. She may even rethink her comment about the KKK. Racism in the Democrat Party goes way back long before the KKK was even thought of. It goes back to the man who is typically considered to be the first Democrat President, Andrew Jackson. You could say that he was an equal opportunity racist as a white supremest. He considered non whites to be inferior. It was his pushing and signing of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 that caused a rift between him and long time friend, Congressman David Crockett. The Disney movie refers to that. I know from personal experience how that party worked in the south during the 1950s and early 60s. Historical purviews of the Democrats has been litmus testing and having to pay a poll tax in order to be able to vote. They were favorite tools of the Democrats to suppress the black vote after Reconstruction. She should also check some of the Democrat leaders of the south. People like Orval Faubus, George Wallace, Bull Connor and Sheriff Clark had two things in common. They were Democrats and they were racist. Research those names and others from the 1950s and early 60s and see what you find. I lived in the south in some of those years and I know that a lot of Southern Democrats were not too happy with JFK and LBJ at that time. If it again became politically correct to be racially bigoted against African Americans, it wouldn’t surprise me if some old Democrats were to take their sheets out of the cedar chest.

Good point, LAPhil. I would expand it to say that the person most resembling the KKK in this sad story is the teacher. The name-calling, threats, intimidation, insistence that the youngster disrobe, the fear engendered in the child, and then trying to pawn it off as a joke, all sound like familiar KKK tactics to me.

Teachers with a political agenda they want to force on their students should be forced to find a new profession, and that includes every aspect of the environmental religion and our “Hate America” types.

We give doctors tests before they can practice medicine, we give lawyers a bar exam before they can practice law and we license architects so they don’t build collapsing buildings, but all teachers have to do is attend a teacher’s school and most aren’t accountable for their competence, their knowledge or the performance of their students. Basically, we have allowed our schools to become an expensive international joke where schools in a city like Chicago are seemingly worthless, yet the teachers think they should be paid more. Why? Their students, if they haven’t the basic skills to get and hold a job, are going to spend a lifetime hating the fact they haven’t succeeded in America and never figure out it was because of a bunch of lazy incompetent, overpaid teachers and a parent who couldn’t motivate them to learn and develop an employable attitude.

We allowed the federal government to establish the Dept. of Education and take federal control of our public schools. The federal government along with national teachers’ unions have hijacked the education system and turned it into an indoctrination system.

BNA42: You are absolutely spot-on! I couldn’t have said it better myself! And note this: public schools receive, on average, about $8,000.00 to $10,000.00 (and more) per student every school year. What are they doing with this money??? The product(s) certainly do not reflect that expenditure! What other employer would allow this kind of dismal failure in its employee?? Any other business would have fired this kind of failure long ago. But, in education the cry is always for “more money, more money, more money”! What employer would continue to throw more and more money into an incompetent employee? Not anyone that would want to stay in business. Yet, we look the other way when it comes to public education. This is nuts. We could trim the deficit nicely by just doing away with NEA and everything else associated with it.

e66lith, if your daughter had experienced this treatment and was humiliated in front of the entire class to the point that she didn’t want to return to that school, wouldn’t you be a little “hypersensitive”? It’s not about the parents, it’s about their supporting their daughter against a racist political hack who violated the civil rights of a high school girl. This teacher took the same path that most of the cowards take. When challenged about their behavior they try to laugh it off as “just a joke” or simply an “honest mistake” and offer an insincere apology.

You might think that because this child is NOT your daughter, but this parents love their child, and will defend their child from an ADULT that is ABUSING THEIR AUTHORITIES on their child. This parents do not send their child to school to get abused or humiliated. This teacher should be fired, and I know I would not want to have this teacher that has shown her true colors, educating my child. NOW, THE CHILDS HONOR ROLL STATUS IS IN JEOPARDY. The child should not be removed to another classroom BUT THE TEACHER IF NOT FIRED SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM HER CASSROOM OR FROM THAT SCHOOL.
The only way to stop this ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR from teachers to make it mandatory that if they should ever abuse this children it should be a part of their record plus have to go see a psychiatry to find out wh they behave that way.

As a parent I wouldn’t bother trying to prove the teacher wrong in doing what she did, it is never right to attack a student in the classroom in front of the other students (praise in public, punish in private). Even if the dress code allows for political messages on t-shirts the teacher and the school wouldn’t really change their opinions.

What I would do is take my daughter out of the school immediately and homeschool her. She will not get a fair shake in the school, this teacher and others will look to down grade her work and make her life miserable, and these are the years where those grades are important to getting into college. Even more I would not want her to be taught by teachers who view making a benign political statement of support for a candidate as the same as wearing a KKK shirt. The indoctrination of her mind with such ideas will do much to harm her in the long run.

They will never admit that they have a biased teacher at their school and as usual they give them a slap on the hand. What should have been done is to give this teacher a leave and a option to go to a class on sensitivity and proper respect for her students or find another profession. Samantha I wonder if you had wore a Obama/Biden t-shirt if she would have allowed you to stay in class. Take courage Samantha there are millions and millions of citizens that stand behind you and your choice of freedom of expression. For those of you that are science fiction fans, I have noticed something of note. Liberal Fascists have learned from the old movie “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” and from “The Borg” on Star Trek. If someone does anything they deem as “politically incorrect” their indoctrination kicks into high gear. They immediately call them out on it. They make a public display of the person and embarrass them if at all possible. This behavior from liberals teaches not only that person to stay in sync with liberal doctrine, it also indoctrinates witnesses to the event to watch their step, or they will be next. This is how they “assimilate” our children’s minds. Neal Boortz the libertarian political pundit espouses that the “halls of academia” are filled with liberals because during the Vietnam War era the draft could be avoided by an individual’s continuation of higher education. These anti-war liberals stayed in college for so long that when they finally graduated and went out in the real world for employment it was a disaster. They were so out of touch with common sense “real world” values that they fled en masse to the only place their mindset was welcome, our colleges and universities. They colonized our institutions of higher learning and contaminated our children with their insanity. The only way to put an end to the madness is for us as conservatives to be willing to do something that we hate to do. We have manners. We were raised to be respectful, and mindful of other’s rights. We do not like confrontation, yet we send our children off to war for a country half-filled with people that no longer recognize the personal sacrifices that our servicemen and women have to endure. It is time for us to be willing to be confrontational and give liberals their own medicine. Fight for your country just as our armed services members go to war. When you see this liberal insanity in action, it is time for you to take action. Call them out on it. Make a public spectacle of their behavior! I have so many friends and family that refuse to have pro-conservative bumper stickers or signs in their yard because of Liberal Fascists that will vandalize homes and vehicles to silence anyone who does not agree with them. It is time for us to no longer be silent, to no longer compromise. “The spirit of compromise” is the reason we are in this mess. Silence is no longer “golden”. If you really believe in American values, if you really believe in the principles our country was founded upon, if you want your children and grandchildren to grow up free, then it is time for you to stand up as our forefathers did and end this evil menance once and for all.

Quite clearly, this teacher should be terminated for her actions. Sice when is no one allowed to have a choice?.
WHAT the heck is going on?. Now just because we happen to be of Republican persuasion, we are Racists?.
NO, I cannot go along with that. Here’s the way it really is. There happens to be a black man running on the Liberal, Democratic ticket, so if we do not like his policies, agenda, or destruction of our Nation, we are racists. We are non Democrat, not racists. The difference is huge.
Well, I say in fact, that if they are for Nobama, just because he is black, then it is certainly they, who are the racists, because they don’t like a candidate who happens to be white. That argument goes equally as well both directions, but the fools on the hill do not seem to grasp this fact.
Racist is a very big word, and it seems lately that anything negatively said about his dismal running of our Country makes us racist.
Our complaints about the man sitting in the Presidents chair have not one single thing to do with his color. Our complaints are about his agenda, and the fact that he is sending our Country into Bankruptcy, how this can be taken as racist, is totally beyond my comprehension. If she had worn a shirt saying Obama/Bidden, would that not have meant that she was racist because she was rooting for the Democratic ticket, and not the white guy, and running mate on the Republican ticket?. Hello, come down off your lofty perches, and back down here where the rest of America is sitting. You have crowed racist until you actually believe that anything non Democrat is racist, simply because there happens to be a black man in charge. He was given a chance, as the first ever black President, and I use that term for him, very lightly, so what does he do as our first black President?, he makes us all sorry that we elected this Democrat into power. He has done such a rotten job, that the only thing you can do to uphold his non American agenda, is scream racist. There is nothing about his running of this Country which has proven him to be a superior leader, quite the opposite, he has given the black community a bad image, because he has done such a poor job of being the commandant-N-Chief.
Get your heads out of the sand, and come to the realization that there is nothing about his color in question regarding his Proxidency, but only the fact that he came ill prepared, with no credentials, no Academic prowess’s, literally no experience, and pretty much unknown, to run this great Country. It doesn’t matter whither he is black, white, yellow, green, or aqua, he has done a terrible job. This is what we don’t like about him.
Get over yourselves, come down out of your racist induced clouds, and just be Americans for a change. Take the world and circumstances for what they are, instead of inventing ways to dismiss the fact that he is a bad choice for President, simply because he does the job badly.

Just sent this email to the principal:
To the principle of Charles Carroll High School:

I am of the understanding that you do not believe in our first amendment rights. My parents were both teachers. My parents were simple people born and raised in the country. There were, however; firm believers in the American way, and in the Constitution written by our forefathers. They were both well above average in their intellects. That fact combined with the freedoms that Americans enjoy, allowed them to better themselves and their students. My father was a science teacher, history teacher, and school principal. He eventually became a school superintendent. If you have a teacher that accosted a student over her political beliefs, and then you did nothing about it, things are very wrong in your school. The first thing that is very apparent to me is that obviously there are very poor standards in play with your hiring practices. You obviously prize adherence to a liberal fascist agenda far more than a teacher’s professionalism and standards of excellence. This is the reason why no matter how much money you throw at our educational system our standards will continue to decline until learning takes a priority over political agendas and unionism. In short; this teacher, and you (if you did nothing about this incident) need to be barred from our educational institutions.
    As I understand it:
(a)this teacher does not know our constitutional rights
(b)this teacher believes it is okay to take away those rights
    (c)this teacher is extremely unprofessional
(d)this teacher does not have the intellect or value system to be teaching
(e)obviously indoctrination into your illogical political agendas carry more importance than a child’s education
    (f) you (from my understanding) did not do anything about it
    (g) you (from my understanding) do not intend to do anything about it
    (h) you do not have the moral fiber, upbringing, or spine to do what it right

Being a principal is a tough job. If you do not have it in you to stand up for what is right then you have failed. Our children go to school to obtain knowledge, but they also go to learn right from wrong. They also go to learn proper social and moral values. If these incidents are indeed true, then as an American citizen and as a principal you have failed. Please tell me that these incidents are not true. I welcome your correction of the facts, if warranted. I also welcome a rebuttal from you, if these are indeed the facts and you did nothing about it.

    Thank you.

    Reagan T. Dickerson

Thanks, Reagan. Your e-mail was excellent, certainly far better than mine. I just wonder if anyone is going to actually bother to read it or even care what we think. And I wouldn’t hold my breath for that rebuttal.

Looks like the truth is coming out, now. Teachers, when they do not like something, are making the decisions to not only have our children drugged when our children do not really have mental problems (insanity) to dictating what our children will wear. It’s time to remove the teachers that are no longer thankful for their jobs but are more willing to intentionally alter our children’s minds with nasty drugs, nasty words and nasty actions. They are not the “Thought Police” but when they think they are then they need “canned”. Education is about Reading, ‘Righting and ‘Rithmetic…nothing more. I hope that Romney and Ryan will turn our schools around and help rid our Nation of the teachers who are that self-centered. No more unions for teachers, no more perks, no more being treated as anything more than employees and that they are to seek their higher ups before they even open their mouths. Now that they are not afraid to go out onto the lines to picket and protest until they can push their employers into giving them exactly what they want, they believe they are something special. They make me sick–urp! Rotten good for nothings!

The teacher in question at Charles Carroll H.S. must be arrested, brought to justice for violating Ms. Pawlucy First Amendment, and thrown in jail.

The School Principle should also have been fired, and prosecuted for cosnpiring to Violate Ms. Pawlucy Consititutional Rights.

This pathetic descrimination case says a lot about the Citizens of Philadelphia and their Government Officials… Really Pitiful.

The day our Constitution is is truly enforced, Liberals will move back to Kenya!

    Dear Sir or Madam Principal,
    Concerning Principles:

You have a “geometry” teacher telling a female student to take her shirt off? That her t-shirt’s message was akin to being align with the KKK (a southern democrat invention, by the way…) simply because it has a pro-Republican message.

    ASHAMED!

you people disgust me. What needs to happen is getting up off your *** and going to your kids schools and doing something about this. Stand up for your damn kids, not allowing for stupid **** like this to ever happen. Make it know of your party views and affiliations. If your school principal is not a friend or foe of you, you’re failing your kids. My kids teachers know EXACTLY who the hell I am and what I expect of my kids and them in the classroom. I’ll ask them what to improve on but tel them straight up to TEACH my kids and not try to “guide” my child. They’re being paid to teach, not guide. Walk in on that teacher call them out and make it know dammit! yor employer shouls expect u to do that!

Really people, just how ignorant are you? All schools have a dress code and typically any shirt advertising anything is prohibited or anything that incites a reaction of taking sides. The parents are stupid for allowing a child to go to school in a shirt they obviously knew would create an issue with school rules or the opposing side in the campaign. And my biggest pet peeve is that the majority represent your views so well with your lack of sophistication, volume of gutter language, and lack of proper or correct spelling. Quit embarrassing those of us who do take pride in our United States and learn to spell properly, use grammar, and express ourselves with real words suitable for public and not gutter language. I shudder to think how your kids are in school with such great examples. And quit stereotyping all democrats as the kkk. In the town where I grew up the kkk were all the rich “good old boy” republicans. It is sick no matter who is involved in such disgusting acts. I am neither republican or democrat but a true independent. And while America is for freedom of speech Please keep your profanities to yourself and recognize everyone has the right to their opinion! I do not want to listen to such nasty garbage and that is why it is hard to hear both sides if the nasty language is not controlled wherever it is said. Grow up, it is a shame they do not censor ignorance on these sites. Before you comment on what the teacher did or did not say you might want to get the real facts!

Mimipink, you say everyone has a right to their opinion, yet in the same breath you say you want to censor the “ignorance” of the other posters. You are simply a Socialist troll armed with a dictionary, thesaurus, and an ego fed by education without wisdom.

You use an ad hominem attack to assail the credibility of other people’s postings because of some perceived (by you) offense concerning those persons choice of words. That is a childish and inaccurate rebuttal (but still a bit better than a certain moron-in-chief did during the recent debate). Whether or not the phraseology, spelling, or syntax is to your liking bears not at all as to whether the ideas in the statement itself are merit-worthy. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with “calling it as one sees it” if the shoe fits, and often an accurate picture is best painted by a medium befitting the subject of the painting.

Democrats, Socialists, whatever you and your ilk want to call yourselves . . . As if adding zeros could produce a sum! Go away and find a site that caters to the sort of sniveling, self-aggrandizing liberal rejects who would appreciate your voluminous vomiting of verbose vanity . . . Of course, this is only my opinion.
