The media... at an all-time low

By Bobby Eberle

Never before has the media been so one-sided, so agenda-driven, and so focused on creating news rather than reporting it. What began as an institution established as a check against government has now evolved into an advocate for government and the left wing agenda. The question is, "What can be done to stop it?"

In a recent interview with Fox News, former Democratic pollster Patrick Caddell echoed sentiments he gave last week in a speech on today's media. Caddell said the media's efforts to promote the Obama agenda or ignore stories that could be damaging to the administration is "corruption of the first order."

"We're entering territory we have never entered before," said Caddell. "We've never had a situation where the press has purposefully decided to pick up a narrative rom the White House to not tell people things that happened in order to support their overwhelming candidate for president, Barack Obama."

"This isn't about partisanship, this is about danger," said Caddell. He equated the media to "Pravda," a newspaper which was owned and operated by the state in the Soviet Union. Caddell went on to say that the problem of bias should be obvious citing how the story of the Libya attacks and subsequent mishandling of the response by the administration was not covered widely.

As I reported last week, MSNBC was caught AGAIN doctoring a video to promote their own anti-Romney agenda. They don't care if it's the truth. They just care that whatever they show will be in line with their narrative. They are not reporting the news... they are telling a story. As such, they will create videos or hide others or downplay events in order to tell their story.

And it's not just rallies, but major issues such as the economy. As noted by John Lott, "Judging from the media coverage, you might think that our economy was improving. You'd be wrong. The truth is that the slowest recovery on record appears destined to set even more records for slow growth."

But the numbers aren't being reported. People are not getting the news. Again... they are getting a story.

Today, it appears that the mainstream press is particularly eager to support President Obama. They are bending over backward to spin the economic numbers in a positive way.

In September and August, The Wall Street Journal and New York Times gave Obama slightly more positive headlines than Bill Clinton would have received with the same economic news.

President Obama also got more than 20 percent more positive headlines than our data indicated that similarly situated Republicans would have gotten. This more positive coverage has a real impact on people's perceptions of the economy. More positive headlines raised people's perceptions that the economy was getting better. The average difference in positive headlines between Democrats and Republicans produced about a four-percentage point increase in respondents viewing the economy as getting better.

And then there's Libya. Americans were killed in a terrorist attack. Yet the Obama administration, despite knowing it was a terrorist attack, wove a story about an Internet video and spontaneous protests. The media played right along, because that was the story they wanted to tell. If they reported the truth, it would not only make Obama look bad, it would make him look incompetent.

Case in point is a new report by lawmakers which claims "U.S. diplomats in Libya repeatedly asked the Obama administration for more security in Benghazi in the run-up to the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate but were 'denied these resources.'" Do you think we will hear about this from CNN, ABC News, MSNBC, or CBS?

When the story first broke that intelligence sources said the Obama administration knew almost instantly that the murders of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others were a terrorist attack and not an Internet video uprising, I scanned the news sites later in the evening. There was not one mention of this news on CNN, ABC, CBS, or NBC.

The problem is that too many people still turn to these outlets for news. These people assume they are getting news. They are not. The media are corrupt, and there is no other way to say it. It's up to all of us to let people know the truth, and hopefully these outlets will soon just fold up and die.

The Liberal media has become the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party who loves their Socialism more than they love their own country. The Liberal media IS the enemy of free thought and they way truth is couched in their deceptive wording is a corruption of our privilege of free speech. Instead of informing readers WHAT to think, how about just reporting the facts and teach them HOW to think.

The fourth estate truth bubble like our lately burst real estate bubble and has become one more victim of the socialist conspiracy to destroy our American wealth and freedoms. When the undeniable bubble of empirical truths of the failure of their socialist ideology finally bursts in November it will be all over for them. They redistribute the truth faster than they redistribute our American wealth and prosperity which will only end badly in poverty of ideas and poverty in fact unless defeated by the voting American public who the media in their deceptions would make us all their manipulated Queens of Denial.

All this states the obvious: The media is in bed with the current regime and their ‘news’ is skewed accordingly. I get most of my news at GOPUSA and I am quite satisfied that most of it is genuine. I learned a long time ago that in order to digest the news everyday you had to learn [as the old preacher said] “to eat the chicken and spit out the bones.”
We must be very discerning what we view and how we perceive and most importantly let the ‘good ole common sense’ kick in when you are gathering information.

The British papers are also a source of news that you will never see in our papers or on television.

I understand that Telemundo is really pounding their Fast and Furious story and they aren’t backing off. This would be the first time that many American Hispanics have ever heard about all the murders in Mexico tied to that gun walking fiasco!

@Dingbat36 Are you talking about Univision? I read a story yesterday where a drug cartel busted into a teenager’s birthday party and murdered at least 8 kids and injured 12 more. Don’t quote me on my numbers, please, but the point is we never heard a WORD about this! This cartel has guns they received via F&F. Another fiasco and it is WRONG that the media keeps getting away with this. I refuse to look at U.S. TV or newspapers. Get news from Fox or the U.K. Even Canadian press is better than ours!

to stop this news biased reporting put up an air to air antenna. Stop watching the regular channels and go to TCT, CBN, Faith In History, and watch a lot more of Fox News, and Fox Financial News. Their ratings will go down while these conservative news outlets ratings will go through the roof and somebody’s head will roll. No sponsors because there are no viewers. give it a shot. The asir to air is FREE. You also get PBS and other channels including sub channels.

Enjoy it while ou can. It appears that most of our college grads(at least the ones without practical work experience) are out there on the left,no matter what discipline their degree is in. Leftist sociologists, psychologists, journalists, political scientists. They all look down on the rest of us who don’t share their point of view as intellectual inferiors. Their brains are scrubbed so clean in our elite colleges and universities, that they cannot imagine any point of view other than their own. They are truly the psuedo intelligentsia. These radleftists are the epitome of racism, bigotry and hypocrisy.

I have known for a long time now that the liberal media will not report the real news. Back when Obama was running for president the first time it was more than obvious by not covering his past, his corrupt allies, his absent birth certificate, his radical reverend and all the other crazy things about him….the media only wanted to make him a saint! Who cares is he was the first black person….if this is not about race then we should not care! His speech with the other nations was a disgrace. He put n the same sentence…..Islamic prophet, Jesus and the holocaust? I do not see the connection at all. Why do we need to accept the Islamic prophet? And what the heck does that have to do with the holocaust? Obama knew about the terrorism in Libya and did nothing… BUT the worst thing he has done is…BREAK OUR US CONSTITUTION and gotten away with it. No other president would have ever gotten away with this. EVER!

REPORT THAT! The liberal media did not even report it when he did it! And I do not know how we are ever going to get the Americans who are still blinded by his lies to see the truth when the media does not report it. The media should be punished…..fired! The have lied, intentionally mislead the American people and they deserve to lose their jobs. ALL OF THEM!

And I hope if and when Obama is gone we can get this country back on track.

Due to exactly what is described in this article, we are staging nationwide RAGE AGAINST THE MEDIA protests on October 20. If we can rise up in support of Chick-Fil-A, we can certainly rise up in protests of the egregiousness of the agenda-driven, complicit propagandists who comprise our American media.
We have a website, http://rageagainstthemedia.org/, a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/groups/437279762974273/?fref=ts, and are working round the clock to get these protests off the ground.

My extensive experience in various academic pursuits has shown me that most professors are the product of seriously inbred bodies of knowledge that result when students get consecutive degrees without serious and meaningful workplace experience, and stay in academia in pursuit of their tenured professorships. To gain the almighty tenure, they must march lockstep with the department chairs that preceeded them.
I hear CBC, BBC, and CNN broadcasts, where sniggering, contemptuous remarks are made about George W. Bush,as if their substance and allegations were established fact. Only in their rarified, ivory-tower hypotheses can such slander be true. Now, they are doing the same with Romney. All the allegations made by the Obama campaign lack substance, and are the type of jingoism that would convince only 5th and 6th graders. Wait! That is the average reading level of Americana. We MUST continue our struggle against the idiotology of this far-left radical Deomocrat Party. We
MUST get the meat back in public education, with serious study of American History, World History, and our Constitution.

Maybe a “Free Press” was really lost went we allowed syndicates to buy up independent new papers and agencies across the country creating mega-news conglomerates. Once that was allowed by a Congress that was asleep at the wheel, it was just a matter of time before we lost this freedom of speech and freedom of voicing ideas and that has now progressed to a freedom from facts. Have you never noticed how school text books have changed to rewrite historical facts to our children about our country and world history? We’d better wake up and vote and insist on accountability. We’d better attend school board meetings and city council meetings. We’d better stop being so gullible. Were we not cautioned just a short time ago to only believe 1/2 of what we saw and none of what we hear or read in print.

Stopping it is easy. Boycott all things ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN. Hit them in their pocketbooks, money is what makes them listen.
To hit ABC in their pocket book go after all things Disney. This means you do not take your children to Disney, Pixar, or Touchstone movies. Do not visit the theme parks. Do not buy the merchandise, etc.
NBC is owned by Comcast/GE. Cancel your Comcast cable, internet, etc. Don’t buy anything GE; appliances, lightbulbs, etc.
If you have to put parental blocks on all of the networks, do so. I do not want anyone in my household to accidentally tune in to NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, The Weather Channel, E Entertainment, Telemundo, Oxygen, and the rest of NBC’s cable stations. I’m a nielsen monitored home and I don’t want them to get a single rating point from me even by accident.
Be sure you do not visit their websites at all! Everytime you do it is monitored as a hit and the more hits they get, the more they can charge for advertising.
Visit Wikipedia and learn all about these companies and the billions they generate. Take away some of those billions. Write them, let them know you are doing so. Pretty soon they will start to listen.
If this were to be organized on a grand scale they would listen sooner rather than later.

Stopped buying all things GE several years ago, and try hard not to watch any broadcast news or programming unless absolutely necessary (Olympics for instance). And I make sure friends and family know why I won’t watch NBC or buy GE appliances. Money talks.

Love the idea of boycotting the advertisers. That is a huge undertaking. Couldn’t do all networks at once either, we would basically be unable to shop. I know KRAFT products advertise on NBC. We can start with writing, online and hand written, to Kraft and telling them that we are done buyin their goods because they support a network that lies to the American people. Need somebody to get this rolling on a huge level, media access, web design, etc….

So the question how to make it cost more than the benefit they receive, or increase the value to truly reporting the news, the good, bad and the ugly?

The country now has 45% plus of the people on government assistance, soon, the conservatives will NEVER be able to elect one of our own. Unfortunately there is nothing new. Would there have been a Spanish-American War, but for the Hearst papers? In the 60′s, working in the ‘black; area, we read the newspapers as comic strips. In the 70′s I was quoted in the papers, no two words were alike, but they were on my side and said it better. My daughter, a high school basketball player saw how they totally mangled a report of a game.

The media is no better than Hollywood, they have a story that they wish to sell, and they will be daned if they will let facts get in their way.

We have been on this pout about the liberal media since Watergate.
When something is stated by a media source that is absolutely incorrect, we should correct it.
We should stop with the chatter that the media is against us because we feel they are biased. We will never overcome those who are biased against us. Instead, try being positive about our agenda.
Tomorrow night, many media outlets will have only positive things to say about Obama and negative things to say about Romney. Ignore them. Bad-mouthing them just gives them more ammunitition to dislike us.

Ignoring will not stop it. If a lie is told over and over and that is all people hear…then it has to be the truth. That is the media bias that we see. It must be pointed out and corrected and it must be done right away.

In 2012, don’t believe the media. If one votes for a Democrat (or Rino) at any level of Government – Federal, State or Local, that person may be an idiot.

Vote for the most Constitutional, Conservative, Christian and Candidate with the most American Values in all elections.

Also important is all 435 Congressman are up for election/reelection (every two years) and 1/3 of the 100 Senators are up for election (six year terms, 1/3 elected every two years). Also you may have State Legislators and local candidates up for election/reelection on even or odd years.

What I don’t understand is why republicans do not buy/take over one of the big three networks. If we were to get all the republican billionaires, millionaires, and us regular folks that will invest a hundred dollars or maybe even thousands out of our 401K to take over CBS, ABC, NBC, one of them; I think CBS is smallest but I am not positive. In any case, even if it had to be a hostile takeover, the results would be undeniable.

If conservatives controlled one of the networks, the other two networks would be decimated just as Fox News has done to its cable competitors. So the conservative network would then have between half and 2/3 of all network viewers. That would swing elections by 15 points at least. That that’s what I call a new world order!

Why has it not been done already, I really don’t know. I do know that it would be a heck of an investment and I would put my 401K into it!

      Who are the shareholders?

Then one has to ask, does the investor want the news to report the news or does one want a good return on their investment?

The problem, news organizations have a difficult time making a profit and why they have been bought out by entertainment companies, and once that happens the news is going to be subject to making sure it does not hurt the bottom line for the entertainment segment

This country is becoming more like George Orwell’s “1984″ all the time. I read the book when the year 1984 was still in the distant future and it really stayed with me. Now I’m constantly being reminded of it by the current Ministry of Propaganda known as the mainstream media.

It’s called “hit and run” news reporting. The liberals run a story to the mainstream media, who don’t bother to verify it but approve of it and air it. When the rebuttal or the truth hits, the media is strangely silent. Those who watch or listen to only the mainstream media for news get the first story and not the update. This is Chicago thug style politics, it got Obama to the Illinois Senate, the US Senate and the White House by every dirty trick they could pull and they are using it again.

They are not exempt and will pay the price for Socialism and this government corruption, which they so enthusiastically promote and defend. What incredible fools they are!
The only groups lacking the moral initiative to condemn this administration are Trial Lawyers and radical Muslims. The Christian churches must speak out and defend religious freedom and freedom of speech, if they don’t want to lose it.

It’s sickening to continuously see and hear the “slobbering love affair” the Liberal media has for Obama. To cover-up and protect ONE person at the expense of all Americans is absolutely despictable as well as dangerous. If the Consolate in Libya can be attacked and our Ambassador (and other Americans) can be killed due to the lack of adequate security and inept leadership, God only knows how safe we are in America.

America sorely needs a tsunami to clean out the Liberal septic think tank. Believe me, if they all disappeared it wouldn’t hurt the network ratings. In fact, it might just help them become more competitive against Fox News.

Where are the PACs? Michelle Obama claimed, in her speech at the Democrat convention, that her student loan and Barack’s came to more than their mortgage (paraphrased). Conservative bloggers and columnists, and some talk show hosts, claim neither ever had a student loan. So, who’s lying? If the claims are true, that they didn’t borrow for their education, but had scholarships, where’s the PAC ad showing her making that statement, followed by the fact that it’s a lie? Or was she telling the truth, and it’s the conservatives who are lying about the loans? Can’t be both ways. If she made such a blatant lie and the media is ignoring it, why are the PACs? That’s the sort of lie the common folk can relate to, as opposed to lies about such things as offshore accounts.

I know that this against the Constitution, but maybe some networks should lose their broadcast licenses because they are not reporting the news. One probably can’t do anything about newspapers; but with television and radio, one can do something. They are airing their programs on the public airwaves; they are suppose to serve the public good. Clearly, they are not. They have become a propaganda outlets of the Democratic Party. If their licenses can’t be pull, maybe before every broadcast they should be forced to announce that they are affiliated with the Democratic Party. I know everyone was worried about the left closing down conservative broadcasts, but now a conservative wants to close down liberal speech. If the nets claim that they are unbias when they are not, they are lying and no longer serving the public interest. At least when one is listening to talk radio, one knows where hosts stands politically, unlike television.

I like the way you’re thinking, mcory. I don’t know exactly what the answer is, but it seems there could be some type of investigation of the MSM for distorting and slanting the news. I wouldn’t want to invoke the Fairness Doctrine, however, because that would apply to both sides and would ultimately lead to the loss of the freedom of a network to express its point of view. There has to a be a clearly defined line between reporting and editorializing.

You are exactly right. Everyone of those networks can say what ever they want, they just don’t have a right to use the limited bandwidth they broadcast their propaganda. Open up the band so anyone can broadcast on it, which will render it not usable by anyone or they can return to having sole use but with the restriction it cannot be only one point of view.

And that goes for FOX too, which is just an entertainment company too

Actually I think you have a good idea there in your last paragraph. The problem is these kinds of stations never last just BECAUSE they’re impartial. TV viewers and radio listeners don’t want neutrality because they’d rather listen to something that gets them fired up, and that always requires a bias one way or the other. Without ratings the funds dry up and the station invariably goes out of business.

FoxNews is not innocent. They have skewed and lied before. MSNBC has as well. CNN. NPR. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes on accident. It happens. The media is run by human beings, who are driven by human nature. Bias and mistake are included in human nature. You can point fingers about who is the bigger liar until the cows come home. But don’t assume 100% guilt or innocence from any source.

I agree, LA Phil. The idea of an unbiased media is good. But idyllic and not based on reality. The media is subject to the rules of business: profit or perish.

So it would have to either be a nonprofit news media, independent of stockholders demanding perpetually skyrocketing growth, or government-sponsored (but not controlled) outlets.

The democratic party has bred pretentiousness into the MM. I switched over to MSNBC within seconds of the debate ending and the attitudes were unbelievable. Mathews actually contended that MSNBC is the epicenter of the real debate. He basically said that if Obama wants to win in a debate against conservatives, his only hope is the coaching he would receive from Ed, Rachel, Rev. and Chris himself.
These people think they are the brilliant because the the liberal establishment has told them so.
They act like they are the all-knowing saviours of our country. They condescend to every single one of their viewers. instead of “We report, you decide” it’s “We report, you believe”. They view themselves as the most important people on the planet.

Another example of how low the media has devolved came to light in The Dailey Caller.

The Dailey Caller reports that on Fri.,Oct 19, during an episode of “ThePeoples Court,” a CBS affiliate, in Arizona, accidently ran a graphic below the in progress program. The graphic showed that Obama had won the election over Romney with 99% of precincts reporting. This is amazing in as much as the election hasn’t even occured yet and serves as evidence that CBS is preparing to run false exit poll results that are designed to discourage voters in the west from casting their vote for Romney.
