Business Owner Who 'Built it' Says Obama can Kiss his...

By Bobby Eberle

There is a sign in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma that is starting to garner national attention. All of the uproar began with Barack Obama's now infamous "you didn't build that" line which has come to epitomize Obama's embrace of government and hostility to small business owners across the country. One business owner decided to show Obama how he really felt, so he put up a rather large sign telling the president just how he felt.

As reported by KTUL Channel 8, in the Tulsa suburb of Broken Arrow, there is a sign next to the building of Additive Systems, Inc. The sign reads:

"We" Built This Business Without Gov't Help.

Obama Can Kiss Our A**

I'm Bob Roggendorff & I Approve This Message.

Here's the video report from KTUL:

Now, I can understand how the woman wants to give credit to those who helped her along the way. That's fine. But SHE made it. Those are HER achievements. And she didn't get those because the all-mighty government bestowed some gift upon her through its infinite kindness and wisdom.

People build businesses. People succeed. Not government!

So what do you think? Valid sentiment or over the line?

    I’m glad that people are responding to the Ozero-in-Chief; he has said and done a lot of things that need a response. How this ‘misfit’ of the ‘throwaways’ ever got into power is beyond me. He deserves to be impeached and run out of Washington on a rail; as they said in old days [tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail]. Probably that would be too good for him.

    I am glad we have a choice in Romney / Ryan 2012

      Don’t bring up the subject of impeachment now! Romney/Ryan will most likely win the election less than 3 months from now. If the democratic delegates get wind of a possible impeachment, they could choose Hillary as the nominee, and she would have a better chance of winning than B.O.!

      @adrianpaul: Here’s a multi-level distressing scenario for ‘ya. To be kind, Biden is a through and through dolt and a drag on BO’s reelection. Suppose BO dumps Biden and and goes with – Hillary – as VP? Or, Biden suddenly ‘resigns’, perhaps for ‘medical’ reasons (can’t find his brain?) and BO appoints Hillary?

      You aks ‘how he got elected”? More than 50% of our citizens are being supported by the gov. It is like the person who protects their captor or an abusive parent or spouse. The gov – mostly the dems – aupport so many people and those people want to continue receiving this free money ao they vote for those providing the freebies.

      Yep, it has become crystal clear why Obama’s handlers – Soros, et al – propped him up and stuck a teleprompter in his face to read what they wrote on it, no doubt instructing him never to speak a word turned away from that teleprompter. Now we know why Obama has endured humiliation – extremely difficult for a sociopathic narcissist – for having to read from a teleprompter, even when in front of a school class of fifth graders, and we now know it’s not because he cannot remember speeches. His handlers knew very well – as well as they knew that choosing only a black man to wreck America would work – that off teleprompter, Obama is a loose cannon. Off teleprompter, Obama lets slip his real opinions of America and Americans, his real world view, his real agenda, what he was really tasked with through his seizure of the White House. I’m sure his handlers cringe every time he starts riffing off teleprompter.

    That was my original thought, but it evolved to “Flush twice as it’s about 700 miles from DC to Hyde Park”. I think I’m back to tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail with a stop at every town along the way on an American Apology Tour where he apologizes to everyone he meets for:

    1. Being born
    2. Being an America hating Socialist
    3. Being President
    4. Doing such an abysmal job
    5. Throwing a baseball like a girl

    It brings to mind the scene in “Braveheart” where Wallace tells the English to surrender, lay down their arms, and leave the country, stopping at every farm along the way and apologizing to the people.

    Everyone knows that the government built the infrastrcture through the tax dollars that we all pay through various taxes. What our fabulous leader fails to acknowledge is that those tax dollors come mostly from the small business man. The added property values that has to be paid in order to buy land where the government says that business must be, the increased property tax to be in a business distict, The restrictions that apply to buildings, parking, and various other restictions applying only to business. Where does obummer get off by saying that the business man did not do that? After long hours of hard work, the business man is the only one that puts America to work to help support our country. Than after a few years the government decides that they want to change the business district location, the business owner looses business and has to close, he looses everything he fought hard for, not because he did not work hard or was not smart, but because the government says we want to move the infrastructure to the other side of town. Put up more signs letting this idiot know how Americans feel.

      Yeah, and we hear a lot about big businesses and rich people. Well I don’t know about you, but I never have worked for a poor person. My dad worked for Ralston Purina in Fort Worth, and my mom worked for a while at Montgomery Ward. The thing is, that these “big businesses” started out as small businesses. Odumbo doesn’t really know what a really small business is – like the beauty shop where I go, or Diaz’s Restaurant, a small cafe where we like to eat out occasionally. Lots of folks work at the local Walmart, which Sam Wall started with one store in Bentonville, Arkansas.

    I would like to know how much federal money is flowing into Broken Arrow. I’ll bet federal funding helped build their water system, wastewater system, roads, parks and a lot more. I once worked for an engineering firm that designed these systems for small cities in the Midwest. Virtually all their work was federally funded. This infrastructure makes it possible to run a business. So do other things the community provides, like police and fire protection, and the FDIC so you don’t lose your money in a run on the bank. That’s what Obama meant.

      Uh, excuse me, Einstein, but whatever federal monies distributed to any city is…now put your thinking cap on….TAXPAYER DOLLARS! That is exactly what TAXES are supposed to be used for and why working Americans pay them! Geesh! Another public school genius! Oh, by the way, public schools are also paid for by the taxpayers–ALL taxpayers. So, genius, if parents choose to send their child to a private school so that the child can actually read, write and add two plus two when they graduate, the parents still have to pay their “fair share” of taxes which fund the failed cesspool public schools! So, basically they are paying TWICE. I know to liberal marxist left-wingers this seems fair, but most clear-thinking everyday, hardworking Americans disagree.

      The only thing that I can see locally that feds have anything to do with is the I83 highway that goes through Mission/McAllen, and the bridges across the Rio Grande. And that is our tax money at work. So it isn’t really the federal government that did all that. We did.

      Why is it those on the left seem to think that the government is financed through printing money? Yes govermenent financed the infrastructure. But they did it through tax dollars. Tax dollars that come from tax paying citizens, mostly business owners. The one thing that you can be sure of is that the cost of the infrastructure was well above what it should have been. Most infrastructure was built through private sector bids, these bids were than modified higher because the government had no idea what was involved in building them. The rich got richer. A contract was signed, the bidder should have been held to the contracts. When government gets their hands on anything, it costs much more than it should.

    If you own a windmill, a solar panel manufacturing company or an ethylene plant, Obama is absolutely correct, government built your business, but unfortunately he couldn’t keep giving you money to run it, so now it is a vacant building and the former employees are unemployed. Dams and fossil fuel fired plants produce electricity at a third to half of what it costs your company to produce the same energy, but never fear maybe there are enough uninformed voters to return your man to power.

    I have a great idea for a new Obama administration if they’re re-elected. Everyone would be required to buy a Chevy Volt and a bicycle with a generator. Everyone gets up and peddles their bike for 3 hours and this will provide enough charge on your car battery to drive 15 miles, you will be thinner and in better shape and if you stop breathing your carbon footprint will be virtually zero. See there are alternatives to solar panels made of Chinese materials and windmills. Even better if we shift the ethylene plants to create moonshine everyone can get high and won’t need to drive to work.

    President Obama doesn’t understand when someone says that they built something because he has never built anything. Of course we use resources others brought about. I use leather that someone tanned for me. But I am the one that built the belt, the wallet, the handbag, the HOLSTER, etc. I am not claiming credit for everything done. I am claiming credit for creating or building something. That is work.

    As far as the rich paying more taxes, is President Obama going to up the amount of taxes he pays or is he going to use his handful of lawyers to find all the loopholes (ones that you & I aren’t elibile for) so that what he pays is less than what a family of 4 getting only $36,000 a year is going to pay?

      Dan Cole,

      You’re underestimating what you built. Not only did you build the belt, the wallet, the handbag, the HOLSTER, etc., you also built the skills to recognize the attributes, qualities and suitability to task of the materials, the fasteners and findings for the items you manufacture and to know a fair market price to pay for them.

      You probably kissed your fair share of toads before you found reliable vendors who charged fair and realistic prices. You then built the skills to efficiently transform the raw materials into quality products so you could offer them for sale at a fair and competitive market price.

      I know all about it as I’ve got 44 years in the hand manufacture of one of a kind items as well as the repair and restoration of existing items and am constantly perfecting and maintaining my skills. According to conventional, and demonstrable, wisdom one has to perform the same skill 10,000 times to master it. I have over that amount of saw cuts, file strokes, solder joints, hammer blows, bends, and several other ancillary and esoteric skills to create my product. Additionally, my work is on time, to specs, in budget and guaranteed for quality and workmanship for life.

      You build more than a product, you’ve built a reputation and a skill set through hard, diligent and intelligent work and, unless I’m missing something, Barry, Nancy and Harry never put a second in at your bench so F*** them and the million dollar Canadian bus they rode in on.

    It’s hard to listen to Obozo’s Socialist “it takes a village” drivel. He has no qualifications to decide who built what. The only thing he has built is a towering national debt. And a lot of public indignation because of that debt, Obamacare, class warfare, and arrogance, to name a few.

    Barry, it’s not about being smart. Fact is a lot of uneducated people are successful. It’s not only about hard work. It’s about risk taking, laying it on the line, finding a need and satisfying it.

    It’s not just working hard to build a mouse trap but taking a chance that you’ve figured out how to build a better mouse trap that other people will willingly purchase without a government goon forcing them to buy it.

    Only a man who has never lost it all because he never risked anything could say the things that this President does. His complete lack of comprehension of the fundamentals of how free markets work to create wealth makes him radically unfit to lead a free country.

    He sees the wealth as fixed and limited and therefore it must be spread around by other than mere mortals like the rest of us. It takes demigods like him to know what is best for us all.

    His is a world where the best one can hope for is the equal distribution of misery. A free economy is one where entrepreneurs identify scarcity and assume risk in an attempt to satisfy needs in a way that will be a win-win for all.

    No system is perfect including free enterprise, but to identify its imperfections and compare them to some idyllic utopian fantasy that has never worked is a liar’s game.

    It is not Obama that makes me sick. It’s his pathetic mindset and his willingness to use coercion to ram his fantasy world down my throat.

      Actually, it IS Obama that makes me sick. I can hardly stand to watch his effiminate manner; his pretending to like girls by kissing Moochelle (notice he always aims for her cheek, like the roommate she is); his Joker-like poop-eating grin that comes and goes in a flash, used particularly when he’s embarrassed or confronted with a question he doesn’t want to answer; walking with his hands in his pockets, another sign of self-consciousness (perhaps knowing he’s in a position that he’s legally not supposed to be in); his jogging down plane steps on the tarmac, limp wrists in place; his hippity-hopping up steps to a stage – to anywhere- even if there’s only 2 steps. See, in addition to his agenda to ruin America, I also cannot stand the “man”, metaphorically speaking.

    So…. Obama thinks we “didn’t make it” without government. Well, I have news for him:

    I made my 2 children– no governmental assistance;
    I prepare 3 meals a day from ingredients in my kitchen and not from a box– no governmental assistance;
    I paid for my house– no governmental assistance;
    I paid for my 2 cars– no governmental assistance;
    I clean my own house– no governmental assistance;
    We mow our own yard– no governmental assistance;
    I wash my own clothes– no governmental assistance;
    I raised my own children and am ever-present with my grandchildren– no governmental assistance;

    I do those things and a whole lot more…. as does every decent, hard-working American.
    In fact, I think that each of us should make a sign and put in our yards.

    this guy rules. every business should have one of these in their windows. this reminds me of reading about ww2. when the japanese attacked america they said they awoke a sleeping giant-america.
    obama’s ideology is no different than the japanese. destroy america as we know it. redistribute the wealth is communism. obama has attacked our country from within. he has awoken a sleeping giant-the average hard working every day american who is proud of our country and want freedom and capitalism.
    it’s about time the ‘silent majority’ has awaken, seen obama’s destruction and have the guts to openly stand up against it. this rogendorff is an american hero!

    response to bmpaz: There are two presidents that far surpass bmo for worst presidents: a linclown and u s grunt. The current state of affairs started in 1860-5. From 1866-77 the Radical Republicans gave us every plank of the communist manifesto: elimanation of private property ownership, graduated income tax (Infernal revenue service), inheritance tax, state- controlled banking, transportation, economy, currency, labour, agriculture and education. So quit your whining and do what the declaration declares of citizens’ DUTY: abolish the govt and SECEDE SECEDE SECEDE NOW.

    I’m so glad I was smart enough to leave the Republican party several years ago. I abhor stupid and dumb.

    I did start a small business with my husband – and it became VERY successful. But WE had to use the roads and streets (just one example) provided by the government in order to build and grow our business.

    There is not one business, anywhere, that doesn’t depend on some infrastructure or essential service paid for by the government, via our tax dollars. There’s the land titles that are recorded by government so everyone knows who owns what, essential utilities like water and sewage, the courts to resolve legal disputes — and the list goes on and on.

    There’s no limit to stupid and dumb. No wonder our country is in big trouble.

      Once again I listen as one of our business owners tells us that the government first built the roads and infrastructure, then, after they opened their business they started to pay taxes…probably in order to maintain the roads that they use, the water and sewage system is a freebee as well? I receive a large bill for the water consumption I use and the sewage is almost 5 times the water bill. If I have ever heard “stupid and dumb” You should read what you wrote.
      Yes, all business depend on roads, water systems, bridges, and many other things. The smart business owner knows that he has paid for these things, not the government. Remember you are the financial back bone of our government.

      Do you know that almost every research is started by the private sector? Only after they have discovered something does the government step in to help finance what private citizens had started. Yes mibe still “dumb and stupid”, sorry.
      Education was also started in the private sector, their pay was little, but they had the backing of the people. It was only when the government( with the insistance from the people) demanded all children get a education through the school system, did they get into the school system. Andlook at the outcome, 40% drop out rate? And your leader O… Is trying to get educated imigrants to fill the workforce.

      Anything the government does is done for their employer, “We the People”, with tax money. Essentially, they are a general contractor we pay to hire private sector businesses to perform the functions necessary to maintain our infrastructure for the common good. Roads, borders, schools, public health, dams, disaster relief, military, you name it and it’s by, for and of us.

So, to say that businesses need the Government to give them educated people is like saying that we can’t do any damn thing without the government. I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but people CAN survive without government schools and government intervention. We paid for our roads and infrastructure for years of taxes.

    Obama could care LESS about if you started your own business or YOU own your business. What really motivates Barack Obama is an inherited rage — an often masked, but profound rage that comes from his African father; an anticolonialist rage against Western dominance, Capitalisum and the free enterprise system in the US and most especially against the wealth and power of the very nation Barack Obama now leads. The real Obama is a man shaped by experiences far different from those of most Americans; he is a much stronger, more determined, and exponentially more dangerous man than you’d ever imagined. He is not motivated by the civil rights struggles of African Americans in the 1960s — those battles leave him wholly untouched. He is not motivated by the socialist or Marxist propaganda that hypnotized a whole generation of wooly-minded academics and condescending liberals — those concepts also leave him cold.
    Obama’s ideas are dangerous and destructive, and they’re meant to be that way. It’s payback against the white establishment culture.

      You are so right on. Obama wants the American blacks to think he is a Martin Luther King Jr. black American, and thus is concerned about them and the preservation of their civil rights. He is not. He couldn’t care less than he already does about their civil rights or their history in America. We would be so much better off if he were a MLK black American, because MLK loved America and would never have done to her what Obama has done. It’s very puzzling to me that American blacks have embraced him so completely, even though he is basically a black Arab who has no regard for them or their racial history. I have to conclude they embrace him as one of their own simply because they share skin color. What a shame, they put so much hope on a black president who isn’t one of them. He has done nothing to help lift them out of poverty and improve their lives. Although he is far to the left of Democrats, he keeps them down and dependent in typical Democrat fashion.

    There is a lot of government support behind him and all U.S. business owners. The products he makes are highly technical devices that can only be designed by engineers that are educated in our taxpayer-funded universities. He probably has registered Patents that our government enforces.
    He states his products follow OSHA and ANSI codes and probably more. So he believes in regulation to limit his liability in case his devices injure persons or property.
    The people that work for these code bodies are also educated engineers, Ph.D.’s, chemists, lawyers, etc. and aren’t $8.00 per hour clerks.
    His engineers work with engineers of the refiners he contracts with, who are also university graduates. Those contracts are enforced in our taxpayer-funded court system so he doesn’t get ripped-off.
    They also follow standards so our taxpayer-funded fire departments know how to fight refinery fires like the Chevron fire this month in Richmond, CA.
    There are also taxpayer-funded roads and bridges he delivers his products on and gets materials delivered to him. His bank deposits are taxpayer insured.
    Our government supports businesses big and small.
