The Private Sector is doing fine? Is Obama serious?

By Bobby Eberle

What an unreal press conference. Barack Obama stood before the White House press corps and angrily denied his staff leaked classified information. He also blamed Congress and Europe for economic woes. But then, he made GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's life even easier. With one sentence, Obama demonstrated that he truly doesn't know what is going on.

As noted in today's GOPUSA Fresh Ink story from The Washington Times, Obama was not too happy at the Friday press conference when asked about leaks in the White House. As the Times reports, "President Obama reacted indignantly Friday to accusations that his aides may have leaked classified details of successful anti-terrorism operations to bolster his national security credentials for the fall reelection campaign."

Obama said it was "offensive" to imply that "my White House would purposely release classified national security information."

As the Associated Press reports on GOPUSA, Obama also took aim at Republicans for blocking his jobs bill. This comes as Obama has faced renewed criticism for his handling of the economy.

The president spoke after several days of difficult turns for his re-election prospects, including last Friday's report that the unemployment rate had risen slightly to 8.2 percent in May as job creation had slowed, and new signs that the European debt crisis was hurting the U.S. economy.

"The recipes that they (Republicans) are promoting are basically the kinds of policies that would add weakness to the economy, would result in further layoffs, would not provide relief to the housing market and would result ... in lower growth," Obama said.

Then came THE MOMENT of the press conference. Obama was asked about the economy and jobs, and he said this:

Are you kidding me??? The private sector is doing fine?

As you might expect, Mitt Romney was all over this gaffe of all gaffes.

The Hill reports that Romney blasted Obama for the comments:

In the president's remarks Friday morning, Obama repeatedly said hiring at private industries was "fine" and occurring at "a solid pace," arguing instead for additional funds for state and local governments to hire teachers and emergency personnel. But Republicans quickly pounced on his remarks in light of May's disappointing job numbers, and Romney said the comments could have historic implications.

So there you have it. How much will it take for the American people to wake up?

If the private sector were doing ‘fine’ that would be ‘despite’ Obama, not because of him.

The Private sector IS doing fine creating jobs and wealth, but only in comparison to Obama’s Government sector which continues to produce nothing but more wasteful consumption of what the private sector creates. This economy is slowly healing itself and the balance of nature is restoring itself not because of what the Democrats have done to us with the burden of additional government spending, but IN SPITE of the additional burdens like Obamacare that he has unloaded upon the nation.

“Where we are seeing weakness in our economy have to do with state and local government” says Obama,,,,,,,well finally we hear some truth,,,because no matter what place we find ourselves in space or time, it is ALWAYS the burden of paperpushing featherbed meaningless Federal, State and Local government jobs that weakens and takes away from those of the strong in the private sector that sustain both sectors.

The private sector may be doing ‘fine’ but should be doing ‘great’ but for the likes of Obama.

We could have many many drilling jobs, but for Obama.
We could be building a pipeline, but for Obama.
We could repatriate much funding, but for Obama.
We could have small companies hiring, but for Obama.
We could have investors willing to put up money, but for Obama.
We could have investors put up money, creating jobs but for Obamacare.
We could have investors put up money, creating jobs, but for too many regulations.
We could lower taxes, but for Obama.

Yes, the economy might be doing ‘fine’ despite Obama but it could be doing ‘GREAT’, shortly, with a few fixes which would put the economy back on track and put the people back to work.

@ genesal: I agree if – IF – the private sector were doing fine, yes, it would be despite BO, instead of because of him.

But by any measurement (against past performance or future predicted performance) the private sector is not – NOT – doing fine, or even good, and forecasts remain from optimistically weak to pessimistically bleak!

      @ genesal: Re ” . . . but for the likes of Obama . . .”

One thing you probably just forgot to mention is – uncertainty.

With Obama, from the wage earner to small and large businesses, to investors and other financial risk takers and all the consumers in between – everybody – is UNCERTAIN.

They’re uncertain about the eventual and cumulative fiscal/financial impact of all of BO’s PAST policy initiatives, including high handed abuse of Exec Orders, and they’re definitely uncertain (maybe even scared) of what in the world the man might do – tomorrow!

This pervasive atmosphere of uncertainty is not conducive economic progress, much less economic prosperity.

I could puke every time Obummer rants about the same things, depending on the month…millionaires and billionaires(whom he hangs with!), and now it’s the we need to rehire 450,000 cops, firefighters, and teachers to “stimulate” the economy. WHAT? We just got rid of those 450k because they are unneeded and as you said, redundant. If each of those cost only $100,000 per year in salary and bennies, that would add $45 BILLION onto the already broke states’ budgets. I live in CA, and over the past 3-4 years, crime has NOT gone up, I have not seen one house burn down in my city of 90,000. So who the hell needs more public safety workers to either sit in fire stations, or 2 cops on bikes busting lots of people for doing a Calif. stop on some remote road(near my home)….IT’S TO RAISE REVENUE, not for safety!

A quiet phone call, threatening their children, loved ones or businesses, effectively shuts anyone up, who disagrees with him, or is willing to expose his lies, and any of his lying czars.

Without a teleprompter, we have always been able to detect his ignorance, naivete, and downright determination to socialize this Republic. Even then, his policies are so blatantly destructive, that it is amazing how true Americans could have elected him in the first place. (But DID true Americans elect him, considering ACORN, his great backer?) He has told the truth when he said he wanted to “fundamentally change this country”, and has made strides to do so, including his promise to exponentially increase the costs of energy. About everything else out of his twisted mouth is a lie, and that will be his greatest legacy.

Not a mental institution, but prison for his blatant violations of the US Constitution, and his treasonous aiding and abetting our enemies, and lying under oath as he was being sworn into office. Gitmo is too good for this fraud. Reopen Alcatraz, and populate it with all the OTHER Terrorists and illegal aliens who are sucking this economy dry and relieving us of our freedoms. This is a crucial time in our beloved Republic.

If anyone other than “the choir” is reading this and other comments I have read, I hope you will finally understand that you must rethink, if you value the freedoms you enjoy, for whom so many have sacrificed, and those who are right now in harm’s way.

    1) he thinks that Gov is the answer and wants to grow government even bigger

    2) he doesnt have a clue about how the economy works

    3) the man is incompetent

what is he smoking or drinking? Is he blind? Surely he is aware that millions of Americans are unemployed? I want a pair of the rose tinted glasses he is wearing.

Corporate America is holding on to record amounts of cash and not hiring because of uncertainty about healthcare cost, taxes, and the next attack from the Feds on Capitalism. This administration attacks the free market while it failed to do its job as the governor of the free market to keep the system checks and balances in order. IE Barnie Frank and Fannie and Freddie. Who was it that was inspecting the oil rigs for BP in the Gulf? The SEC and Bernie Madoff, the FDA and ecoli breakouts. If Obama had the chops for the job he would know efficiency is the key. Who was it that said he was going to go through the budget line by line? Liar.

Considering that there are more people of working age in nation than there was “27 months ago” … and considering that there are fewer people working than there were “27 months ago” … how does he get away with claiming that he has created even ONE job?

You guys are giving O too much credit. If only he was just a fool. He is systematically and deliberately dismantling this country, its government and economy. He intends to destroy this country and bring it down to third world status. He is a sleeper who has been planted and fertilized to grow and destroy us from within. He is NOT doing these things by accident but rather by carefully laid plans, directed by George Soros and others. The fact that he makes these gaffs is largely due to “One Lie Begets Another”…that and the fact that he is so narcissistic he believes no-one will call him on the lies anyway. And Guess What? Nobody in the lamestream media has. When everything you do is a fraud, it takes a seriously slick operator not to ever screw up with the gaffs. He has told us what he’s up to over and over in his words and actions, even before he was elected. There were so many red flags when he was running that I cannot imagine how any sane person could have voted for him. Yet the American people blindly elected him anyway. Those that are ignorant and apathetic enough to do such a thing are the primary problem in this country. Obama is just a symptom of that problem.

Even if he was born in Hawaii, which I am not at all convinced he was, he is not eligible to serve as president because he was not born of two US citizen parents. He has perpetrated the biggest fraud this country or any other has ever seen to achieve this, aided by our own liberal media. He should be removed from office and everything he has signed into law should be made null and void. He should then be tried for treason and you know what the penalty is for that.

Has he said and done some foolish things? Absolutely! But don’t dismiss him as a fool and miss the more sinister part of the story. He is doing the things he does intentionally.

He and the Democrats do have plans to ruin this country and make it pay for all of its success. Supposedly, via socialism or more correctly, by communism/Marxistism. But as “MetLife Insurance” remind us, be prepared for the “IF” in l’if’e. What ‘if’ things don’t go the way we expect? What if – the public is not as stupid as they think it is? What if all of those intelligent Americans see through their plan? How will they handle a slip between the cup and the lip? Overconfidence can ruin many plans. It is up to the people who built America into what it was before Ob came along to take control, fight and take back the Republic! Don’t buy into his horse manure. The media like GOPUSA and other conservative journalists are doing their part. Romney needs more fire in the gut. And jobs are not the only issue that needs to be discussed. Fast and Furious is a red hot topic. Take the opportunity to educate the uneducated – lay it out. Make them see how ruthless and corrupt the Administration and DOJ are! This is the office of the Attorney General of the United States. It is supposed to be above blame, upholding the law, not corrupting it. So hold their feet to the fire. We’d all do well to keep that in the front of our minds that he has a playbook and with unabashed audacity and gall he’s following it and, by golly, so far it’s working just fine – for him and his cronies and their sinister purposes!

@ veva: FWIW, experience has taught me that ‘properly authorized’ grassroots faxing initiatives can be quite effective (to wit: NumbersUSA).

But if you want to be ‘reasonably’ certain your elected rep will receive YOUR communications you should use old fashioned – snail mail – marked on the envelope, ‘Personal to Senator/Representative’ so-and-so.

      Boyd,

Those criminal charges you talk about will never be filed. Too many other conspiratorial politicians, at least thirty percent of the Senate are, Socialists if not outright Communists. All the appointed czars and other henchmen, who have aided and abetted Obummer’s crimes as well as the House and Senate members who rubber stamped his legality to be President.

Upon their arrest, most of these slimy, lower etchelon cowards, would squeal like stuffed pigs on their bosses, to avoid prosicution.

If squealed upon, half of Washington would be on the firing line. (the target side)

Do you really think Obummer will ever be prosicuted for his crimes?

It would be like arresting a well known Washington madam. All the cockroaches would scurry for cover and go into defense mode, for fear their names, would be in her little black book.

That madam’s life wouldn’t be worth a plug nickel. She would die from a “self inflicted drug overdose”, just like Marilyn Monroe did.

If Obummer is defeated in November, we will have to endure years of his monkey face popping up to support every hairbraned left-wing cause that comes down the pike. Just as we do Jimmiah Caarter and Slick willie.

One would have to be a damn fool to think the private sector is doing fine. Actually, for HIM, the private sector IS doing just what he wants, and that IS fine with him. Notice how all of the jobs he ‘creates’ are government jobs? Pass this around: The College Republicans are calling the election “Red November”. Help them achieve it. Make a statement. Wear more red. Buy a red vehicle. Order ‘Killian Red’ beer/ale. Wear red on election day. Just don’t brag about it or the radical left will produce everything in blue. Tell Romney to do away with his blue signs/posters. Get red ones.
