Daughter Rants on Facebook; Dad Shoots Laptop

By Bobby Eberle

I don't know how many parents out there can relate to this story, but I bet it's quite a few. A daughter was angry with your parents for having to do chores. She airs her displeasure with her parents by posting an angry, profanity-laced commentary on her Facebook wall. She also blocks her parents from seeing the posting. However, her dad (knowing computers) sees the posting and decides to read it... to the entire country via YouTube. Then, he shoots his daughter's laptop with his gun. Check this out!

In summary, once the father discovered his daughter's actions, he put a chair in the lawn, turned on his video camera, and began making his YouTube video. He began by reading the girl's posting to the audience.

Please note the the YouTube video contains profanity... some from the father, but most comes from the daughter's writings.

Once he's done reading, he let's the audience know that she is not only grounded, but that when she wants a new laptop, she will have to buy it herself. The dad then empties the clip of his .45 into the laptop! See for yourself...

So what do you think? Is this even real? You can read the father's Facebook posting about the incident here.

I can tell you from experience that my daughter has posted items before that she didn't want her parents to see. Isn't it strange that something that leads to a child blocking the post from her parents is ok to distribute to hundreds of Facebook "friends?"

Oh... one note to parents... When you decide to ground your teen from Facebook, and you change your son's or daughter's password so they can't log in, also make sure to change the e-mail address. One click of the "I forgot my password" button, and he or she could be back in business. :-)

Say hello to the new society and how they handle problems.  They say we get what we deserve and I really believe it’s all coming true now.  That’s probably why Obama will win another term because most of the people in this country deserve what they are getting.

Maybe the far left, brainwashed younger generation will deserve what they get, but the majority of older people like myself have worked hard for what we have. We don’t deserve what Obama is doing to this country and OUR finances. Especially the ones who did NOT vote for the far left’s Messiah and socialized government who want to strip this country of all it’s wealth.

This child’s unruly attitude is a direct result of the far left’s interfering in how families are allowed to discipline and raise their children. Any discipline at all and they scream “abuse”. It’s no wonder that parents are going off the deep end!

It’s true I know, but have you ever in your life known of a time that the innocent didn’t go down with those who weren’t?  Never.  We will all go down with this guy Sunshine, whether we like it or not, or whether we’ve worked hard or haven’t worked at all.  The majority rules in this world Sunshine and that’s been going on since the beginning of time.  Take a look around and see how many innocent people have sufferred because of the policies of this president and yet he thrives and so does all that are like him.

It was over the top. While I understand the emotion behind it, I think it went too far. I certainly wouldn’t post of video of myself shooting anything other than targets. Part of owning firearms is practicing discipline. Knowing ahead of time that he was going to empy his magazine on the laptop, I spent much of my time watching and wondering how he was going to accomplish that safely in what looked like a residential area. Bad form, in my opinion. I think the video would have been more effective had he kept an even keel and simply excerpted the letter and explained the consequences.

Shaun, the laptop was a target, and a very good one.  Maybe he could have cleaned the hard drive and given it to someone who would have made better use of it than Hanna, but that was an irrage father’s choice.  Stay tough, Dad.

Shaun-Just in case you missed it, little-miss-oh-so-spoiled had been grounded “before”!  That did NOT teach her a single thing- -because I have an “oh-so-spoiled-14-going-15 granddaughter, I can tell you, from personal experience, there are times when you do have to “go to the extreme” in order to make “any” impression!  This dad DID make an impression, I’m certain and he DID do it “safely”.  He fired “into” the ground, Not in the air, Not over the back fence and NOT at any houses!
No matter how “well” you try to bring your children up, or how well you try to “educate” them – -there will “always” be an “outside” pressure, be it teachers, peers, tv shows, etc.,  that will cause them to give you heartaches/headaches!  I did bring up 3 of my own and it was almost as “difficult” back in the 60′s and 70′s; I’m thankful I did NOT have to contend with laptops, Facebook, or cellphones.  I DID have to set a “time limit” on use of the “landline” and “curfew” for TV! Oh, and as posted in another article – -I did “not spare the rod”!

Your thinking is exactly what the problem is and what has destroyed this country.

You are worthless. So brainwashed by thinking that all ills will be solved by reasoning. The failed “League of Nations” and now the UN. How has that worked out for the peace of the world? Ad nauseum… Tried to reason with these religious terrorists lately?

I know I’m throwing in the “kitchen sink”, but once we stop exercising our feelings against injustice and the destruction of our country by thinking that all can be ‘righted’ by clinical conversation, we have only temporarily placated the enemy… giving him more time to do a better job of destroying us.

I think this father kept an “even keel” under the circumstances.  If he hadn’t he could just of well have ‘whooped’ his daughter’s butt or worse!
Just because ‘times have changed’ doesn’t give children the right to be ungrateful, secretive, disrespectful, thoughtless, arrogant and selfish, etc. especially to their parents.
This father is trying to teach his daughter a life lesson so she doesn’t grow up to be an Occupy Wall Street participant, wind up on welfare looking for handouts, and he wants her to become a productive citizen and not a leech on society!
Those lessons need to be learned at an early age; she still needs direction and correction.

If you remember, the father said that he had previously taken away her laptop, just as you recommended.  Plus, he had warned her that if she did it again, the consequences would be much worse.  It sounds as though his daughter didn’t believe him.  And apparently her level of appreciation couldn’t be much lower.  I hope this works to help her change her ways and learn to recognize a limit beyond which it’s not advisable to go.

Great job dad – in today’s world when you can’t use the rod as the Bible says you should –  sometimes have to do things like this to truly get the message across.  I am thankful that my son did and does respect his mom and dad and has never pushed it to this limit but then again I didn’t spare the rod!  Maybe parents should stand up to society and open up their Bibles.  And to the person who thinks that just taking the laptop for a few months would have made this teenager change – I do not think so – now she really has something to earn – not only the money to pay back dad, the money to get herself a new laptop but she needs to earn her parents respect first and if she were my child that would take a long time….  Again – great job dad – I applaud you!

I understand Dad’s frustration and anger over his child’s behavior, I guess I would have handled it a little different. This whole “parent vrs child” war that goes on in families can be extremely destructive to the children. I know many of you will feel totally justified at pointing out my errors, but hear me out. I had a father that took a similar stance towards me; there was never the day that I wasn’t criticized, ridiculed or made to feel worthless all because I didn’t do things the same way my folks did. I was never thanked for or complimented on the chores I did ( we lived on a farm)…thus I never learned to feel appreciated or took pride in my work. I would be ridiculed because I matured too slowly  for my dad’s expectations. I rarely felt acceptance from my father and my mother always took his side. There was a constant war in our family and I was constantly receiving this attitude that somehow I was “bad”. I don’t remember a time when my dad cuddled with me or mom enjoied a shopping trip with me.

I have had three girls, with the first daughter my parenting skills were similar to my parents. She rebelled, ran away from home, became addicted to drugs and then pregnant. By the Grace of our Lord did I receive another chance to parent her and make things right. She is now a very successful RN at a large Midwest hospital. My other two girls were raised without the war and have graduated from HS and are making their way in the world. What is most important is the wonderful relationship the girls have with their father and myself. We don’t critisize, ridicule or have unrealistic expectations on our girls and they in turn are kind, respectful, gracious and trustworthy young ladies. The relationship with my parents is strained, superfacial, and fearful to this day.

I caution parents from jumping to join the bandwagon on praising this dad’s actions. There needs to be a balance for effective parenting, not a domineering and untrusting attitude towards your most precious asset God gave you. In the Bible, God says to spare the rod, spoil the child. This does not mean the rod is a weapon to be used against children, but a tool to disciple and train your children with love and care. Imagine if instead of God sending us Jesus to train us, he sent us Satan. How many would love and revere God today? All children can be reached through love, unless the damage done to them has been too severe or great.

Sorry to hear about all your problems cinbad, but I am glad to hear that your daughter did turn out so well.  I like happy endings as I always hear too many that aren’t so happy.

One of my students asked me the other day why his brother turned out so bad when his parents were good to him.  He reminded me of that scripture verse about training a child the way he must go and he will not depart from it.  What came to my mind is the fact that these verses were not promises but words of wisdom from a wise man, and unfortunately did not always come true.  I am glad that they did for you, and I’m also glad that your unfortunate childhood did not destroy your life.

      Newsjunky,

Thank you for your kind words, but my father’s action came very close to destroying my life. I became an alcoholic, drug addict and went from man to man to find acceptance. It was a rebirth in Christ that finally saved me.

Many of today’s children have gone way off track and it seems to me, many of these folks on here wish to “blame” the kids or society or the schoolhouse and forget about their fault in all this. Who was the person in their child’s life from birth to pre-adolescence? Oh! Did I step on some toes here? Well, it takes a lot of humility to sit your wayward child down and apologize to them for the misunderstandings, asking for their forgiveness  and working on a solution to move forward.

There was a raucous young man in middle school who was on drugs and in constant trouble with school authorities and police; he was on the road to life with a number under his picture. No one would would give this boy a chance. He wandered into my office one day (school nurse) and I started right off giving him the time of day, asking him about the book he was reading, talking about skateboarding. I looked for things to interest him and I shared and showed unconditional love to this young man. When he left middle school, thank goodness someone else seen his good and carried on. He graduated from HS with honors and was the class student president.

Is it too much to ask to set aside your pride and work in love with your children rather than with anger. You don’t have to coddle them, or never have them do chores, or give them everything they want…that would be poor parenting. My children see the ways of liberals and how their promises of entitlement are wrong; they learned this by watching and questioning their motives.

How many times have we yelled at drivers in other cars and called them stupid with the kids in the car and we don’t even know them? Bingo! A lesson in disrespect for others. How about we fudge on taxes or speed limits or accidently walk out of a store without paying for something, but decline to go back and make it right? How about shopping in a store and putting your cold coffee down next to the socks? or leaving all the clothes you just tried on at Target in the dressing room on the floor. Or how about the gossip you just relayed to your best freind? All the while your kids are watching and listening. We can’t be perfect, I’m not. People look at yourself before you puff it up to your kids. All you look like is a hypocrite; your pride is a tool of the devil when you use it in this manner.

I think it is very sad that the relationship between these parents and their daughter is so broken that they have to resort to You Tube to communicate and discipline her.  I don’t condon the daughter’s behavior by any means, but it is true that adolescents go through a period of rebellion.  I believe her dad, while I understand his anger at his daughter’s behavior, was out of control and showing how very juvenile he is in dealing with the situation.  I doubt his behavior will result in a positive outcome.  I didn’t always handle my kids in the best way, but I will say this, when I realized my errors, I would sit them down and apologize for things I may have said that were hurtful.  Tough love is very important and consistency in your values.  The daughter was wrong in how she handled herself, but she is a teenager and obviously her parents–at least her dad has not grown up either.  That was a terrible display of parenting.  And that is my humble opinion.

Not that it matters a lot but did anyone see how old the little twit is? Teenager is a broad classification from thirteen to nineteen. The upper level would make the “teen” an adult. If she was closer to the lower age there were probably things the dad could have done that would have been more appropriate.  No matter what, dad reacted to his daughter’s tantrum by having his own tantrum (on steroids)!

BTW, for all who think it inappropriate that  he destroyed her computer with a gun, would your reaction have been any better if he had rendered it useless by dropping it off the tallest building in town, or running it over with his buddy’s semi-truck?  Didn’t think so…  He warned her, she ignored the warning, punishment escalates.  Go daddy…

Sometimes you have to act like a juvenile to get your point across to them. They don’t act like adults and can you can hardly expect adult punishment to work.

The father had promised his daughter there would be more severe consequences if she repeated her Rants on Facebook. Had he failed to back up his promise she would have become more embolden.

It’s amaxing!  We have to have permits to breed dogs but no qualifications to bring another human being into this world.  This man is a poster child (and I emphasize CHILD) for some level of parental pre-training.  The idea of child rearing is to bring an offspring to adulthood, not bring an adult to the level of a 14 going on 15 teenager.  He has just declared war on his own child (and, by-the-way, given an open invitation for a visit from Child Protective Services).  Surely, being the IT expert he claims to be, he could have removed the harddrive or in some other way, disabled the laptop if indeed that was due punishment.  It is obvious that this family has some deep rooted problems.
One other thing, the man is a certified addict if he can’t go without a cigarette for the five minutes it took him to belittle his daughter and make a fool out of himself.

I remember when I was 13 or 14.  There was a man in the neighborhood that loved kids in the right way. He was a Scout Master and a contractor.  He built an in ground pool and just about any time he or his wife were there , kids from the neighborhood could use the pool.  Some of us took an interest in gymnastics so he constructed a high bar that we could use anytime, amazing.  Had a shuffle board set up, it was a great place.   I’m ashamed to say it but I remember a day he asked me to help mow the lawn,  he was going to have a party later and wanted to get ready.  I was upset and felt myself ill-used.  I remember complaining to myself,( I hope no one else), “So this was it, this was why he was so kind, some day he was going to ask me to help with some work.”  Dumb kid thinking.  God has a sense of humor,  after I came to the Lord He had me do teen ministry for over 20 years and raise 3 of my own, I often reaped that selfish attitude in spades.  A  Jr. Highers  perception of justice is often alien to us, often crazy selfish, that is why we are there to teach them  by word and example to help them outlive it.  Sometimes the appreciation for what we do for those of that age doesn’t come until  years later when the light goes on for them.  In the meantime some  tears, frustration, a lot of prayers for wisdom, a lot of asking for and giving forgiveness.  Wow, shooting the computer with a 45 – certainly memorable  – as long as the door stays open for love and reconciliation it could be one of those look back laugh together, situations, if not . . . another sad story.

There has been a gradual deterioration of our culture and value system in this country that I believe started back in the 1960′s with the hippies and the “free love” generation, and has been embraced by the liberal activists who, since the 60′s have infiltrated and have finally taken control of the Democratic party. The liberal philosophy in this country has permeated both our entertainment industry and our educational system in this country, and because of the permissiveness it encourages, is very attractive to our children and younger adults. Our movie industry is basically unbridled in what it can present in both movies and on our network and cable television channels. Yes, there are movie ratings, etc. but those just help those interested decide which to rent or watch, and the more violent or sexually explicit, the more popular. The Internet basically is totally open and anyone can go on the Internet and find anything from hardcore pornography to actual videotaped beheadings.

The “good old days” of clean television programming which had TV shows that were centered around typical American families and which helped provide good role models for both children and adults are a thing of the past as few networks bother with something basically so mundane which, in today’s world, probably would not get good ratings.

So, our generation has facilitated the creation of our mainstream culture, which to me, has basically let down our kids to a large extent because it has created a very permissive environment built on very flaky and unrealistic role models. Too many of us have made it look easy to our kids to have anything they want or need without having to earn these benefits. They think they deserve an iPhone or iPad just because they are your children and, besides, everyone else has one.

Our public educational system is a disaster, and no amount of money is helping improve the situation as fewer and fewer kids actually are graduating and prepared for the next stage of their lives.

So, yes, this Dad is upset with his teenage daughter, who is acting like a spoiled brat, but, she is probably more the typical then the exception of teenagers in today’s world, and I am not sure killing her laptop is going to help resolve their problems. For example, in today’s school system, every student needs access to a computer just to get lesson plans and homework done. And to avoid being an outsider, they almost also have to have a Facebook account.

Dad, give your daughter a break and talk to her and work it out privately. Do not..DO NOT…publicly embarrass her using U-Tube or Facebook,..again, assuming she EVER totally forgives totally you for what you have just done to her public image and reputation.

JDZ I agree most with you most of the time. I think this is just what she needed. How would you like your daughter writing things as this girl did about you and your spouse? A selfish person as his daughter seems to be is not going to be swayed by a talk or grounding. I hope her friends who actually have real chores laughs at her.
It is also evident talking to this girl was a wast of oxygen. As for her needing a computer for school work. They have a thing called a library. You can still go there and find all kinds of information including a computer to use.

Hanna, just do your chores, shut up and respect your parents!  From the time I was 12 until I got married at 22 I vaccumed and dust mopped our 10 room house while I did the laundry for 4 people–this was with a wringer washer and hanging the clothes on lines in the back yard.  I didn’t complain very much at having to spend my Saturdays this way because my dad worked 6 days a week driving a gasoline truck and my mom packed oranges five and half days a week.  My job was easier than Mom’s!  Oh, by the way, I also washed and dried the dishes every night and that was by hand.  I didn’t have a dishwasher, automatic washer or dryer until I was 25 years old.  You have it really easy, little girl, and now it is time to grow up!

Those of you who are so against guns should think about what has happened to countries where guns are no longer allowed.  Most people who have guns would never do anything illegal, but you still want to deprive them of having this protection.  Even my husband has threatened to shoot our computer when it won’t work right, but he would never do it.  Nor, as he has also threatened, would he toss it out the window.

So many of you have complained that this father isn’t doing enough for his daughter and should be reported to CPS, but you don’t know anything about what they have done to straighten her out.  Most of the problem teens I have known came from well rounded, hard working, loving families, but the kids just wanted to do things their own way.  This includes my own son who had respect for us, but not much for teachers and other authority.

This is why I am against guns. Guns don’t kill by themselves, people do the killing. What kind of message is that sending to his daughter and her friends, to his friends, his family. Totally, totally unacceptable. He is supposed to be training and disciping his children, not threatening them or their possessions with guns. It is totally against the “arguement” that people have guns are to protect them from those who whould endanger them. This makes my stand against guns even stronger.  Also, both the child and the parents need counselling. That is a very disfunctional family. I pray that the father and mother never take their anger out ON the children instead of their possessions. Maybe the Child Protection Agency needs to take a closer look at that family. If the father thinks its okay to shoot a computer instead of trying to help his child, might the child think its okay to shoot the dishwasher or the car or her parents like has happened recently? In my opinion, the father is guilty of much more than the child because she is a child and he has admitted he is unable to raise her with any moral compass of her own because he doesn’t have any moral compass of his own.

Shooting the computer. Perfectly OK thing to do. It is just a target so get over it. Who do you think paid for that computer? This ungrateful brat does not deserve a computer. At no time was there any violence directed toward his child. So you and the others need to get off this  Child Protection Agency.

Now, if this had been a Hollywood production, Daddy would have had a ‘wife’ sitting beside him wearing a bikini, and when he shot that laptop it would have BLOWN UP in huge flames, instead of just sitting there and taking it. Otherwise, dad, it was great video production. PG-13, three out of four stars.

My “baby” is now in her late 30s. I count myself lucky that she never got involved with drugs, drinking or unwed pregnancy. When she was a teenager, she told me that her friends wished they could talk to their mothers like she was able to talk with me.

If I didn’t like what she was doing, I would explain why and tell her that I trusted her judgement between right and wrong. Oh yes, we had our battles too, but they passed and we didn’t hold on to the hard feelings.

When she was 15 she wanted a lot of “things” I couldn’t afford so I told her to get a summer job, which she did clearing tables at a nearby restaurant. I charged her for driving her back and forth to work and let her spend the majority of her money on whatever she wanted. At the end of the year when she had to do an income tax return, she couldn’t believe how much money she had made and had very little to show for it. That taught her a valuable lesson in managing her money and taking care of what she had.

Above all else, she knows that I love her very much to this day. We still talk all the time and sometimes “Mom” gets advice from her child now. I have been truly blessed.

I will never be able to understand how parents can turn on their children or children turn on their parents. Some people have told me that they haven’t spoken to their parents for twenty years. I find that heartbreaking.

Maybe if we all showed a little more love and less judgement, we could learn how to forgive and forget. It’s worth the effort.

I think that his behavior was no better than
his daughter’s…in fact I think that since he
is supposed to be the adult his reaction was
worse. He could’ve made his daughter ‘donate’
    her laptop,cellphone,ipod and whatever eletronic
devices she may have to charity.
He complained about the bad language his daughter
used and then proceeded to use the same language!

A boot up your ***? Really?! I can make a pretty good
guess from WHOM the daughter learned such disrepectful
talk.My OWN parents have quite the potty mouths themselves,
every bad word I know I learned it from THEM.

I don’t blame the girl for ranting on Facebook but if she had said
it without the bad words and snarky attitude and her father still
behaved the way he did on his post, guess who would be looking
     like a tool?

I do agree that kids should do chores without getting
paid but they do need to know that the work that they
do is appreciated, and they in turn will appreciate what their
    parents do for them.

He claimed that when he was fifteen he was living on his
own and working three jobs all while going to school,I find
that difficult to believe, but I’ll bet that if his fifteen year old
suddenly left home he’d drag her back by her hair.

    To sum this up:Like Father,Like Daughter .

Anyone here want to hazard a guess as to when this

Dear sybergrama by your writing you sound like a suck-up political correct fool.
I’m 73 years young and don’t know where you have been, maybe in a cave all these
years.I’ve raised 2 daughters who are in thier mid thirties, and they have turned out fine.
Granted I’ve had too disipline them because of what they saw thier classmates
say and do.But I told them that stupid was catching if they stayed around it too long, and
stupid would not be allowed in my house,it stopped at the door step.
My younger daughter when she was 17 cursed at my wife, telling her to perform
a highly improbable physical act upon herself, and more from reactive instict I reached
over my wife’s shoulder and punched her in the mouth and put her on her can.
She threatened to call the police I told her too call the the police and when they come I’ll knock the $5000.00 in braces out on the floor. She retorted I hate you,and I
told her that was her problem, and she stompted off too her bedroom and sulked.
A month later she apoligized too us and has never cursed at us again. My point
is if you won’t stand for something you won’t stand for anything.I’ve been an auto and
truck technician for fifty years was certified had my own shops and retired as a fleet
foreman from a midsized municipality.I’ve also taught automotive too adults and high
school students.I have observed some things through the years and that is people in
general will test you,how you deal with it is the hard part.
The reward of the testing is they later learn that there is no free lunch in this
country and by thier diligence and hard work they make a success of themselves, and
we know by pragmatic rules that’s the only way too honorable success.
When I was teaching adults I had students from the Carribian countries from
South America,Africa and a few from Europe and they were great students, and were
respectful.Unfortunately not many of my high school students had those qualities.
I believe the success that my wife and I got from my daughters was that
they had too earn respect and it was not a given, and they have a good work ethic
which I’ve heard from thier bosses. So the summatiom of the story is that the father
of this disrespectful daughter may be that she is around so many other like wise students, that it may be a very hard road she is trying too hoe and will find to her detriment that she will not be employable in the future unless her attitude changes
and those are the facts take them or lose at your own peril.
Syber grama sorry too be so hard on you,but it would be nice if things could
go the way you would like but that’s not the real world we live in today when half of our
country thinks the country owes them.our founding fathers must be turning over in
thier graves.I pray I start to see a change for the better before I die,you better pray
it does for our grand children.           The Traveler

Oh my gosh, that was really a good comment.  I have to laugh.  Hey none of us want to give our kids a smack, but kids have forgotten where they came from and who got them here.  We used to laugh at Bill Cosby’s line “I brought you into this world and I’ll take you out, and then I’ll make another one that looks just like you”.  People are now horrified by that I bet, but they’re crazy.  Parents deserve respect, and they don’t get it because they don’t expect it.  Their kids are always the worst, and make life miserable for everyone else.  Self-centered narcissists make lousy adults.
Nobody wants to give their kids a rap, and today, it can get people arrested, stupid society of parental overlords that we have now, but any fool can see kids in the 1940′s, when corporal punishment was the rule, are much improved human beings over whatall is raised now.  When my Dad just jingled his belt, you bet we all got in line, end of monkeyshines. Sometimes parental authority in the form of a reasonable reminder of who is in charge is just the thing. If children call authorities on their parents, they need to learn to do things for themselves more, so they will appreciate how much has been done for them.
That being said, no one condones physical abuse of young people, ever, but that’s not what we’re talking about here, we’re talking about the ultimate authority of parents over their children, and sometimes, it gets extreme. That’s natures way. Even in the animal world, when a pup gets out of control, they get a correction from their parents, and it’s enough to make an impression.

I am no progressive liberal but this jerk has totally humiliated his own daughter. These issues should be worked out privately. Every parent who has children with access to the internet must be prepared to handle the fact that kids will use social networks to vent their frustrations. She used words; he used guns. He should apologize to her. He should be mature enough to know better. I respect the right to bear arms but this man does not understand that handguns are for personal protection and should never be fired in anger. He needs help. After this viral ordeal, the entire family should seeek counseling. I am praying for them.

Do I think this is real?  Absolutely.  I love it.  Here’s a Dad who has given and given, and I feel sad for him.   He realized (but not too late) that his child is an ungrateful brat, like children who are spoiled are.  But instead of just feeling bad, or even putting his message on Facebook, he makes a point, a point she can’t miss.  There goes her old buddy, and now the complaints will stop, at least for awhile.
At 15, it’s late, but there is still time to make a point.  I especially thought her comment about “being old and wiping your…and I won’t be there” was a particularly lousy thing to say to her parents, and shows no love or appreciation, or respect.  Knowing that’s how she feels, spend her inheritance now, and let this child earrrrrrn her way through life, just like you did Dad.  If she gets to the point she regrets, truly, and turns her attitude around, of course you can give her another chance, but, that day is a long way off.
Talk about a spirit of entitlement.
Dad, you did the right thing, and I applaud you.  Now you’re the poster man for parents who are sick and tired of their own brats.  Keep it goin Son.  God bless.

First and foremost, I need to be a grammar nazi here because the incredible, incredible amount of bad english in the comments here is driving me up the wall. YOU ONLY USE QUOTATION MARKS WHEN QUOTING. Golly gee, QUOTATION marks for QUOTING. See what I did there? It’s not too hard to figure out. Where did all of you who abuse quotation marks learn to do that?! Who educated you? Regardless of whether or not you have an informed or totally ignorant perspective, it makes you appear to only have the latter.

As for everyone who condones these actions:

The father was outraged for his daughter making private remarks via Facebook by way of her laptop…so he shot it.

Now how is this any different from her making private remarks with her own voice? Do you shoot the telephone? For that matter, does he shoot the daughter in the face if she says the same thing to her friends in-person, hardly far removed from the use of Facebook?

The use of violence – and the firing of a weapon at any time other than in a shooting range is violence – over remarks is simple unacceptable. I would understand if his daughter was doing something seriously illegal using the laptop or was doing something highly inappropriate with a webcam (and had done so before) but firing a gun over communication (and I’m damn sure she’s saying things to her friends now) is not ok. Never mind the destruction of all of her data – would it be alright for her father to shoot her journal, her clothes dresser, or anything else in her room?

Maybe she’s an angry daughter not because “kids these days” (how cliche of many commenters here!) but because of a lack of parenting? Maybe the father needs to learn how to actually communicate with her and do so instead of snoop on what she does and then shoot things?

Who by the accounts in the video were not deserving of this kind of trashing by their daughter.. Slander is not a privet thing. Firing a gun is not violence. Shooting it in the ground where it is legal is not violence. She had fair warning as to the consequences of her regress.
People like you making excuses and juvenile comparisons and what if’s. Is the real problem in society. Those things didn’t happen so get off it.

Actually this is a great video to show the disfunction of the average American family today.  The pistol packing dad displays his anger publicly. Wow. and he is angry because his daughter publicly displayed hers. Yippee kiyoe kiyay cowboy.
This is a perfect example of the leaf does not fall far from the tree.  Sleep with one eye open cowboy.  You may find yourself on the ground full of holes from your own angry daughter’s 45.
I don’t care if anybody agrees with me and quite frankly you can keep your BS replies to yourselves if you disagree, but I had to reply after seeing so many of you patting this cowpolk on the back.
This was wrong on so many levels that there is just no place to start. But we will start with maturity. Cowboy needs to grow up and the whole family probably needs to seek a professional counselor.
Was the video entertaining?  Yes, it was.  But when looked at from the perspective of what is wrong with todays youth, then no it was more disturbing than entertaining.
What will the next news headline be. “Cowboy Who Made Viral Video of Daughters Disobedience, Found Guilty of Killing His Daughter”.

As a single mom for over 10+ years, and a warrior against today’s society’s affect on our young people, I applaud this dad. I too have been “lambasted” by my oldest daughter on Facebook. Let me point out something that seems to have been overlooked so far by other posts: teenagers using Facebook to “rant” fail to learn how to sit down and discuss things as adults in order to resolve conflicts, perceived or otherwise. Please understand – I do NOT encourage my children to question my authority; however, I have raised them to know that if they disagree with me about something they have the right to respectfully request that I listen to them politely and respectfully express their feelings, with the understanding that it is my house and my rules and “fair”is not part of the equation. I tell them that one day they will work to earn money for their own place to live and they can set their own rules in their house, but in my house it will always be my rules. Period. How will these young people ever learn how to sit down with those in authority over them (teachers, bosses, pastors) and discuss things as adults? One other thought comes to my mind that I don’t recall seeing included in other posts: more and more companies today look at an applicant’s Facebook page as part of their “background check”, because so many young adults seem to feel that whatever they write on their Facebook page is only for their immediate circle – they have no concept of how quickly those things are disseminated for the world at large. As someone who has had to conduct interviews with prospective candidates I can say that you can learn a lot about an individual by what they do and don’t share on their Facebook page, regardless of the “front” they put up in person. I have never shot the computer, but I went several months with everything from my daughters room except the clothes in her closet and her mattress stored in the trunk of my car in order to make my point (computer, cell phone, camera, etc. – all in the trunk of my car). I think if more parents went back to really PARENTING, there would be a lot less Facebook rants and a lot more respect. Just sayin’….

REALLY??? This guy is a MORON and he will be lucky if his daughter doesn’t take his gun and shoot herself (or him) after he has humiliated her to the world. For crying out loud, she is only 15! What were you thinking??? Growing up is hard enough, and then the people she is suppose to be able to count on for unconditional love does this?? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING! This guy is in need of some serious therapy and anger management control. Seriously dude, get help. She obviously can’t go to you for any of her emotional needs, and I hope she gets help dealing with a parent that is so irresponsible.

And to all you other people out there that posted comments, why in the world does everything have to be Obama’s fault?? How can you even remotely connect this to him?? All you people that idolize what this moron did, shame on you, you are now part of the problem. Get real.

The apple does not fall from the tree. A lot of the anger and vocabulary read from the FB post were similar to that of this father. I feel bad for this little girl. Discipline and punishment are important but they are not the same thing. Discipline is guidance to promote positive behavior. punishment is a penalty imposed in reaction for unacceptable behavior. POSITIVE discipline is more effective than punishment because desirable behaviors that last a lifetime must come from within the child rather than from external force. If punishment is needed, create natural and logical consequences. Shooting a laptop is not natural or logical (its actually a huge waste of money and of a resource that many cannot afford). This young lady needs a punishment, but she also needs more positive than negative attention. You can tell she may receive a lot of material items (ipod, laptop, camera), but she is lacking positive conversation and structure. This father needs to model desirable behavior and encourage his daughter to help solve her own problems (natural and logical). If he continues to send the message to his daughter and her friends that Facebook is the place to solve ones problems publicly and in anger, how will she ever learn to do differently?

We may have to agree to disagree. Discipline without GUIDANCE does not work. However, when punishment is needed I believe that natural and logical punishments are more effective in teaching children. Shooting the laptop was extremely disrespectful. Shooting anything in anger does not teach respect or responsibility and in this particular situation it was not a logical or natural response/punishment. Referring back to my original post, FACEBOOK is not the place to solve conflict. This father is upset that his daughter posted a disrespectful comment on Facebook so he decides to one-up her and post an even more disrespectful comment on Facebook??

There was absolutely nothing disrespectful in shooting that lap top. his daughter was the only one disrespectful in this story. She knew full well what would happen if she transgressed again. She is ungrateful for the things her parents gave her and do for her. she is responsible for what happened.  How many kids have you raised? None I suspect and where did you get your degree in child psychology? Sitting on your couch. If you had bothered reading the things that the daughter and her father have said since this happened. you would know it worked.  What do you call natural and logical punishment? She is too old to put over your knee and spank. Restriction didn’t work. What else do you suggest? Maybe she didn’t get spanked when it would have helped. I don’t know her life story. Do you? You don’t know. Unless you were there you can’t make an educated judgment. Every decision you make has consequences. Ok, I’ve been watching the reviews now for a couple of days…looks like ONEWILDMAN has some real issues as he seems to be very upset over any comment that varies from his perspective. Perhaps he has some deep issues, was he too the victim of a similar childhood? Probably. Probably had no affection or compassion growing up, had to tow the line perfectly or get beaten if he didn’t. And now he can’t have an original thought or be enlightened by better choices because he is damaged goods. Look how he ends EVERY comment with something that has NOTHING to do with the topic. Impeach Obama? Really? That screams ignorance and shows us just how divided this country is. A typical, uneducated response to everything with this guy is to impeach Obama. My only hope is that he has never, and never will, have children he can screw up with his slated, backward, ignorant thinking. He is definitely part of today’s problems. But I’m sure that all the facts in the world don’t matter to the likes of you and many, many others just like you. You could give a mountain of facts, but it would not matter, it doesn’t change your way of thinking, or lack of… If a “liberal” told you 2 plus 2 equals 4 you wouldn’t believe it just because a “liberal” stated the fact. Sad, very sad, not to mention crazy.

The slaves were freed by Republicans the equal rights acts all three of the were championed by republicans. and opposed by you beloved democrats. Even your icon Kennedy publicly stated that if the Civil rights act passed he would veto it. I think shooting the laptop is disrespectful because it teaches his daughter that expensive electronics are dispensable and easily replaced. This young Hanna needs to be taught what respect is and given an example to model after (guidance and discipline). Threatening her will only close the door for possible positive conversation which she needs instead of using Facebook as an outlet. By natural and logical punishment I am referring to realistic punishment. An employer or educator is not going to shoot her laptop. If I were her parent I would have HER post a video message on her Facebook apologizing for her actions then she would be writing some apology letters and hand delivering them to her mother, step-mother, and Linda. When this was complete Miss Hanna would be putting in some time doing community service on the weekends as well as finding a job on her own and then purchasing the laptop back from me. I actually have a son and a college degree that I worked very hard for. But more importantly I am a WOMAN and I understand what a young lady needs. It may surprise you that a steady hand on the wheel can be more successful in guiding a young one than a firm hand.

For your information my facts on the Jim Crow laws civil rights acts and the voting rights act came straight from congressional records. Here is a quick history of the Democrats and the KKK http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2309727/posts The late Senator Byrd was a KKK leader. Although he lied later in life and said he joined to get elected. But that lie does not explain away the fact that he filibustered the equal right act of 1964. Here is one of his famous quotes: “ I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side … Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”
Lincoln would not be considered a liberal by any means today because he believed in the constitution as written. Not as it has been perverted by the democrats like Obama.

One more thing one of my best friends for over thirty years is black and we have dinner almost every weekend. When we were younger we hung out together four to five days a week. he also believes that Obama is a liar and the worst thing to ever happen to black people. he also says Obama is not black he just pretends, so black will vote for him.

People, can you believe this guy ONEWILDMAN’s posts?? He goes from one extreme to the next, never connecting any dots, just babble. Who cares if you have black friends, that doesn’t make you right about any of your comments. And quoting Senator Byrd, really? While you’re at it, how about some quotes from John McCain on the subject of immigration? I’m sure I can guess what side of the fence you stand on that one.

Constitution? I love our country and everything it stands for, but you are a bigot and traitor to this country contrary to your own slanted way of thinking. Instead of being part of the solution, your comments lends itself to being part of the problem. What are YOU doing to help our country out?

Obama has risen to the daunting task of digging this country out of the worst times this country has seen since the depression of the ’30′s. And we have GW Bush to thank for getting us there. Clinton balanced the budget, which GW blew up. It will take decades, DECADES to get out of the economic disaster he created, not just 4 years. Get real. It is not just one sided, anyone who thinks it is, is not living in reality. We as a country need work together to solve the problems, not create more. This congress has not allowed Obama to succeed, if you think he is failing, take a look at yourself. You are part of the problem. They have stamped no on just about everything he has tried. If he fails, you have no one to blame but your GOP party, they have gone way too far to the right. In order for our country to survive, it has to meet in the middle. This won’t happen with minds like yours. Sad.

You have no intention of ever seeing anything without far extrem, slanted views. I feel sorry for you, must suck to be you.

Sorry 4ourrights, but you are wrong on many of your comments.

First, it was a Republican controlled Congress who balanced the budget under Clinton, but they still ran up the national debt. The majority of the debt created under Bush’s watch was when Pelosi and the Dems took over the House in 2007-2008 (the House writes the budgets). They doubled the defense bill with all the pork they added and then told Bush that if he wouldn’t sign it they wouldn’t support the troops. I believe that is called extortion because they were threatening harm to the troops if they didn’t get their way! The FACTS are written in the government records if you want to learn the TRUTH.

Another error in your post was that the economic meltdown was Bush’s fault. It was the Dems who were pushing “affordable” housing all the way back from Carter. It was Barney Frank who blocked any investigation of Fannie and Freddie while the CEOs were cooking the books. Again, it’s all documented FACTS. The Federal Reserve also had a lot to do with it by keeping interest rates too low for too long. As soon as they upped the interest rates, people started to default on the mortgages they couldn’t afford in the first place.

What Obama inherited was not much worse than what Reagan inherited from Carter, but we didn’t go into another depression over it like we have under Obama.

Don’t fool yourself because the figures the White House is putting out are not accurate. There is NO recovery!

Everything has been getting progressively worse under Obama. The Fed just keeps pumping money to the banks to make things look better. The banks are still holding billions in bad mortgages they haven’t even put on their books yet. When they do — the bottom will fall out of our so-called wealth and we will have the mother of all depressions because this country is already bankrupt. What else can we expect when the world’s so-called wealth is nothing but debt created out of thin air by the central banks? The reason that half this country’s wealth disappeared practically overnight was because there is NOTHING backing it. The Fed note is nothing more than an IOU on FUTURE taxes they plan to take out of the people’s pocket. As the saying goes, “you can’t get blood out of a turnip.” Without jobs there are no FUTURE taxes to steal from the people.

What FDR did during the first Great Depression caused it to last over twenty years. What Obama and the Fed are doing now will cause this country to go under permanently!

As far as the Republicans blocking Obama — that is a joke. Neither side is trying to do anything to fix the problems. Obama’s budget for 2013 is for 3.8 TRILLION dollars and they will have to raise the debt ceiling AGAIN. The ones getting rich on all this are the international bankers know as the Fed, with all the interest they are charging on worthless money they create out of thin air.

By the way, the Fed controlling the money supply is against the Constitution you claim to love. FDR turned control of the money over to them in the Banking (bankruptcy) Act of 1933. The unconstitutional “direct” income tax on the people and the unconstitutional Federal Reserve were all created under Wilson and a Dem controlled Congress in 1913. The government stopped backing the Fed note with gold in 1971 (another Dem controlled Congress) and the national debt has been rapidly climbing ever since.

So, this country’s problems started long before Bush or Obama. They both just escalated the downfall of America.

I just wonder know how much longer they will be able to keep up this farce. Some people, like you, are still fooled. They have been trying to turn people against each other for years so that we don’t pay attention to what they are doing behind our backs. By your post, it seems to be working.

The only thing that may SAVE this country is learning the truth and realizing that the government is the people’s enemy. Then we have to work together accordingly. I “hope” it’s not too late!

ONEWILDMAN Here we go again, your non stop dribble. What is it with you and the Civil rights act??? How in the world do you connect that with IMPEACH OBAMA?? LB Johnson (a Democrat) was the one who finally signed the act, Kennedy was the one who put in in motion. He was killed before he could finish the job, you moron. We should all be grateful that the act was signed at all, who really cares if it was a Democrat or Republican or the man on the moon. It got signed, that is all that matters. One thing for sure though, If it was to be signed today, with this sitting President, the Republican congress would not allow it to go through, it does not care about the people, just their agenda.

All you seem to want to do is blame Obama for everything. Or is it the Democrats all together you just want to blame? Again, ignorance, head in the sand. There is no point even trying to communicate with someone that has his mind already made up. Again, if the far right was told 2 plus 2 equals 4… they won’t believe it if it if it came from a “liberal”. Why don’t you put any of this blame on GW Bush, or the GOP congress?? Do you think they are not responsible for any of what is going on?

Obama isn’t making things worse, it’s people like you who are. YOU are part of the problem. You have such ignorant hatred. You and people like you who think so small, are tearing this wonderful country we call home, apart. Try being part of the solution.

And as far as your utterly ridiculous statement about “Obama is not black he just pretends, so black will vote for him”, Really?? REALLY??? You want to go there? There doesn’t seem to be any end to your ignorance, it is beyond comprehension. Lies? Does WMD mean anything to you? Now there is one big fat Republican lie. One that has hurt this country in a way we may never get over.

This being an election year, just curious, do you think you have any candidates worth even a second glance, that could do any better with what this administration has had to deal with? Why do you think McCain chose Sara as a running mate last time? The GOP didn’t want to win, they knew what a mess our country was in, thank you GW. Now they/you can just blame Obama. Again, Obama has done an incredible job given the situation. You as an American should be thankful for the accomplishments he has been able to achieve. Do you think you could do better?

IMPEACH ONEWILDMAN, now THAT makes sense, eh?

I will feel sorry for any other candidate for President if they beat Obama because of the mess they will have to face.

Obama now wants to cut our nuclear weapons by 80% and end the armed pilots program that has been in effect since 2002. What is he trying to do? Set us up as a target by cutting our defenses. The ONLY cuts to the budget that he wants to make is to weaken our military. Of course his Obamacare is going to cut $500 billion from Medicare to pay for people like NON-Americans to have health coverage. Forget what it’s going to do to senior health care!

I don’t blame Obama alone. It took a Dem controlled Congress to escalate this mess.

You’re right — I can hardly believe what he has done TO this country in the past three years. I just hope we survive to have another election!

4ourrights Let me make it simple. I see your feeble mind can’t understand that I sign all post:
IMPEACH OBAMA NOW! ! ! ! regardless of subject. You don’t have the mentality to grasp that.

Here are just some of the reason.

      1. The individual mandate
No list of President Obama’s constitutional violations would be complete without including the requirement that every American purchase health insurance, on penalty of civil fine. The individual mandate is unprecedented and exceeds Congress’s power to regulate interstate commerce. If it is allowed to stand, Congress will be able to impose any kind of economic mandate as part of any kind of national regulatory scheme. Fortunately, the Supreme Court has a chance to strike this down during its current term.

      2. Medicaid coercion
The Court will also be taking up Obamacare’s massive intrusion on federal-state relations in the form of a coercive Medicaid expansion. The law compels states to drastically increase their Medicaid expenditures and reorganize their health care bureaucracies, on penalty of losing all (not just additional) Medicaid funds. No state contemplated such a program when it signed onto Medicaid — Arizona was the last to join, in 1982 — and now no state can afford to withdraw. Indeed, even if some withdrawal mechanism existed, withdrawn states’ taxpayers would still be funding complying states’ Medicaid programs. As the Supreme Court held in South Dakota v. Dole, there comes a point when “the financial inducement offered by Congress might be so coercive as to pass the point at which pressure turns into compulsion.”

      3. The Independent Payment Advisory Board (a.k.a. “The Death Panel”)
IPAB is the group of 15 presidential appointees who, beginning in 2014, are tasked with reducing Medicare spending. Any decisions IPAB makes automatically become law that can only be overridden by a three-fifths majority vote in the Senate. Unlike other federal agencies, IPAB is subject to no external review — no public notification in advance of proposed rules or opportunity for comment, no administrative guidelines and no judicial review. Medicare comprises about 13 percent of the federal budget, so that’s an awesome amount of power for Congress to delegate to unelected executive-branch bureaucrats. Indeed, it’s so basic a violation of traditional separation of powers that there’s no historical analog. The Goldwater Institute has filed a strong lawsuit challenging this (yet another) unprecedented aspect of Obamacare, which will continue wending its way through the lower courts regardless of how the Supreme Court rules on the individual mandate and Medicaid-coercion issues.

      4. The Chrysler bailout
Building on the Bush administration’s illegal use of TARP funds to bail out the auto industry, the Obama administration bullied Chrysler’s secured creditors — who were entitled to “absolute priority” — into accepting 30 cents on the dollar, while junior creditors such as labor unions received much more. This subversion of creditor rights violates not just bankruptcy law but also the Constitution’s Takings and Due Process Clauses. This blatant crony capitalism — government-directed industrial policy to help political insiders — discourages investors and generally undermines confidence in American rule of law.

      5. Dodd-Frank
Intended to remedy weaknesses in the U.S. financial system — ensuring transparency and accountability — the Dodd-Frank financial “reform” empowered unlimited, unreviewable and often secret bureaucratic discretion. The administrative bodies the legislation created face no constraints on the exercise of arbitrary authority. For example, the Treasury Department now has broad and essentially unchecked power to seize banks and other financial entities that it determines are unsound but “too big to fail.” The new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Financial Stability Oversight Council, meanwhile, craft, execute and interpret their own law. Due process and separation of powers issues abound.

      6. The deep-water drilling ban
Following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Interior Department issued a blanket six-month moratorium on new oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. A federal judge struck down that moratorium as arbitrary and capricious, but the government issued a new order to replace the one that was struck down. That order was subsequently withdrawn, but the judge was so shocked by the administration’s conduct that he found the government in civil contempt of court.

      7. Political-speech disclosure for federal contractors
In April of this year, President Obama released a draft executive order (still pending) that would require businesses with federal contracts to disclose independent expenditures on federal elections (political speech independent of candidates and parties). This order is intended to undermine the Supreme Court’s Citizen United decision — allowing independent expenditures by corporations, unions and other associations — by discouraging federal contractors and their executives from engaging in political speech. Citizens United held that such expenditures do not enable the kind of quid pro quo corruption that campaign finance laws are allowed to regulate, so this draft executive order shows contempt for the First Amendment by chilling protected speech.

      8. Taxing political contributions
Earlier this year, the IRS tried to muzzle political speech by asserting that donations to certain nonprofit advocacy groups (so-called 501(c)(4) organizations) would be subject to the gift tax. Historically, the IRS has not applied the gift tax in this way — donations to advocacy groups are not likely to be used to circumvent the estate tax — and when the IRS previously tried to tax political donations, it was rebuffed by the courts on the grounds that such transfers are not gifts (i.e., the donor is getting something in return). The IRS has since backed down, but the suspicion remains that it was trying to chill the political speech of those opposed to President Obama’s policies, in violation of the First Amendment.

      9. Graphic tobacco warnings
Late last year, the FDA issued regulations requiring cigarette manufacturers to display graphic warnings on all packs of cigarettes that must cover at least 50% of the packaging and graphically portray tobacco-related illnesses. These warnings violate the First Amendment because the government is compelling the cigarette manufacturers to discourage their customers from buying their lawful products. Last month, a federal judge blocked the new regulation, which was due to go into effect in January, but the administration is appealing.

      10. Health care waivers
The Department of Health and Human Services has granted nearly 2,000 waivers to employers seeking relief from Obamacare’s onerous regulations. Nearly 20 percent of these waivers went to gourmet restaurants and other businesses in Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco district. Nevada, home to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, got a blanket waiver, while Republican-controlled states like Indiana and Louisiana were denied. Even beyond the unseemly political favoritism, such arbitrary dispensations violate a host of constitutional and administrative law provisions ranging from equal protection to the “intelligible principle” required for congressional delegation of authority to cabinet agencies. Unlike 17th-century English monarchs, American presidents were not granted dispensing powers: As we’ve seen, the power to suspend a legal requirement can and will be used to arbitrarily favor the politically connected. Moreover, most of these waivers were never authorized by Congress in the first place!

While they lied for Obama and ignored his affiliation with Ayers and refused to investigate his birth all the while going after McCain’s birth. That is pure bias. If you don’t think so then you are just as biased and a bigot.
That is a word you liberals like to use and 9 out of 10 of can define the word.

What have you ever don for your country? I would venture to say nothing but take. like most liberals. Lastly Obama is the biggest liar to ever occupy any elected office of any nation past and present.

Don’t forget, this is where you are supposed to be posting responses about the father shooting his daughter’s laptop after she rants on Facebook. I think we are getting a little off topic. But this is typically what happens. Young children get lost in the system because in the end it has to be a battle between the *** and the ELEPHANT.

jkdean18 I couldn’t agree more… some people just can’t agree to disagree, they have to pull politics into everything. I should have know better…shame on me, can’t reason with a donkey or an elephant. My initial response was to just state how I felt about the dad going off like he did, how he humiliated his daughter in a inappropriate manner. Still feel that way. But I was accused of being a gun hating wimp…for my opinion? Really? People, try to stay on topic, enough is enough.

The reason so many people put politics into everything is because the government has it’s fingers in every area of our lives. They have taught the children that if it feels good — do it. The world owes them a living. That any kind of discipline by parents is abuse.

Real life is not like that. We now have thousands of college educated Walmart employees because children were not taught the value of hard work and self-discipline. They come out of high school thinking that everything will be handed to them on a silver platter. The government tells them not to worry because if they can’t find jobs they can always go on the government dole to support them.

This is just one of the reasons this country is being turned into a third world dictatorship and incidents like this one are increasing. There are hundreds of things that the government has done that is destroying the family unity, which is the backbone of a great society.

The problems of this country will only increase with “social justice” and the redistribution of wealth. Discipline and having to provide for your children should be left up to parents — NOT the government.

The best way to teach our children and others is to set a good example, but the government is even taking that away from us. The government has turned us into an entitlement thinking society. It penalizes people with taxes when they try to work hard and get ahead on their own.

Obama has been pushing class warfare and welfare. He is making people feel more insecure in a bad economy. This is spilling over into our reactions with our families. We know in our gut that something is wrong, but it isn’t “politically correct” to blame the government’s interference in our lives for what is ailing us.

I will applaud what this father did if he continues the lesson by making the daughter earn the money to buy another computer. It’s time that she woke up to the realities of life instead of believing the bull that she has been taught by the government and her peers.

For the majority of us life is not easy or FAIR. Get over it and move on! And work towards getting the government OUT of our lives and our pocketbooks while we still have some freedom left!
