In an age where Jimmy Carter is believed to be the worst president in American history, I believe Carter is now pulling for Barack Obama to take the title. Obama was the center of attention Tuesday night as he stood before a joint session of Congress to give the annual State of the Union address. The speech was more of the same, and I guess what surprised me the most, is that Obama kept at it. The rhetoric that pits one group of Americans against the other will NOT work, yet he continues to blame the other guy. Jimmy Carter had to be smiling.
Obama's State of the Union address was filled with class warfare, contradictions, and a healthy dose of left wing "hope and change." Yet the speech delivered nothing on how to actually fix the mess we are in. Obama's theme was a "blueprint for an economy that's built to last," but the blueprint did not address our debt, our deficit, or empowering the private sector. It was babble at its highest.
Obama again played the "fair share" card. He has never and will never define what the "fair share" is, but according to him, the rich aren't paying it. This was the part of the speech that irritated me the most. He brought up his favorite example -- Warren Buffet -- as a way to justify higher taxes:
Right now, we're poised to spend nearly $1 trillion more on what was supposed to be a temporary tax break for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans. Right now, because of loopholes and shelters in the tax code, a quarter of all millionaires pay lower tax rates than millions of middle-class households. Right now, Warren Buffett pays a lower tax rate than his secretary.
Do we want to keep these tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans? Or do we want to keep our investments in everything else - like education and medical research; a strong military and care for our veterans? Because if we're serious about paying down our debt, we can't do both.
Hmmm.... where to start? First, the Bush tax cuts reduced rates for EVERY tax payer. Everyone saw a tax cut. They were not designed to be temporary for anyone. The ONLY reason they had an expiration date was because of typical Washington politics.... pass it now and deal with renewing it later. In addition, Obama KNOWS that the comparison between Warren Buffet and Buffet's secretary is just plain wrong. But he continues the rhetoric. Buffet ALREADY paid taxes on his income when he was making a paycheck. You can bet it was at a higher rate than his secretary. He then used the remaining money (after taxes) to invest and make more money. What he makes from that is STILL taxed but at a lower rate. Obama compares that rate to the standard income tax rate. It's an apples and oranges comparison that is designed for only one purpose: to make the middle class angry at the wealthy.
Obama's "trade off" is also nonsensical. He makes it sound as if only the taxes on the wealthy were raised, then the government could afford to spend money on everything. Wrong! The wealthy could be taxed at 100%, and we would still be in the red. The federal government spends too much money. Period. Programs need to be cut, and spending needs to be reduced. But Obama (and most politicians) only know about rhetoric not solutions.
Obama also focused on his "clean energy" platform. In fact, he used the word "energy" twenty-three times in his speech. Yet, how can a president who says that America needs to be "in control of our own energy," then put a halt on the Keystone pipeline? The pipeline would create an estimated 20,000 jobs and help the American economy. It's because Obama detests the private sector. If there is something that can be done by the federal government, then he will stifle private sector growth, even if it costs tens of thousands of jobs.

While the American people suffer, Jimmy Carter certainly has a grin on his face. He know longer stands alone. Obama is right there with him as one of the worst, most divisive presidents in history. They are two of a kind. It's like last night when I told my friend that Jimmy Carter wears a Barack Obama watch. He replied that Obama wears Jimmy Carter Underroos. Let's hope Obama joins him as a one-term president.

Jimmy Carter indeed with a Jimmy Carter watch on one wrist and a Mickey Mouse watch on the other. They wear each others watches which cannot keep logical time to the heartbeat of America which means in essence that they both bear watching.
Just give me a candidate who can speak two words without manipulating the truth. Enter Obama and his mindless State of the Disunion Speech.
Obama states “General Motors is the largest automotive manufacturer in the world”
Not,,,,,in 2010 the United States Produced 7,761,443 units,,,China 18,264,667. But for a Tsunami Toyota would have far out produced General Motors who was forced by the democrat Liberal orchestrated economic and political necessity of survival to downsize and lay off workers. Who is he kidding?
He states that today for the first time in 15 years the Unionized Master lock Plant in Milwaukee is running at full capacity.??? And just why are Americans buying locks in record numbers? What are they afraid of? It’s Obama and his failed criminal economy where his promised Soccial Security lockbox is missing.
“My question to business leaders is this, ask yourselves what you can do to bring jobs back to your country.” Does he really want the correct answer which is to vote him out or resign?
Again what is his solution other than when in doubt tax them out,,,,of the country.
“There will be more inspections to prevent counterfeit goods from crossing our borders”?? Like counterfeit citizens and counterfeit workers??
He states correctly, “ If the playing field is level, I promise you America will always win”,,,,,So when do all Americans start paying the same percent in Federal taxes and all Americans start paying a minimum tax like he proposes for businesses? Why just corporations? Because Corporations don’t vote!
Just more taxes, more teachers more teachers unions to educate more Socialists and more government control of private enterprise. No surprises here. Now he wants states to require all kids to stay in school mandatorily till 18 so the socialist mind control factory has maximum exposure to their brain. Next they will all be compelled to attend 4 more years at a Socialistic Liberal indoctrination center Called College, at the taxpayer’s expense of course, to really seal the deal and the minds of our children.
“We should work on comprehensive immigration reform Now”,,,,where were you for the past three years.
“Innovation also demands basic research” ,,,so where is our space program you killed?
“We have opened millions of acres for oil and gas exploration.” ,,,Where??in the Gulf of Mexico now devoid of drills, where?, in the Keystone Pipeline you vetoed?
“Our way of life will only endure if we feel that same sense of shared responsibility” So just what is called sharing when 47% of Americans, mostly Democrats pay NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES??? And the federal government criminals get to predetermine the outcomes of who gets the privilege to pay taxes and who succeeds?
“Nothing will get done in Washington this year” ,,,,or any year the Democrat controlled Senate and White house fail to put out a budget for another 1100 days. He says send me a Bill. What he means is he’ll send YOU the Bill to pay for his failed social experiments, after giving him another 1.5 trillion to cover the mismanagement of the first three years of his failed administration. Congress has sent him many Bills which he has already refused to sign.
The only thing he said that made sense is what I have preached for months, what Lincoln said about “ The government should only do for people that which they cannot do better by themselves and no more” ,,,,Like buying them houses, feeding them, providing healthcare and retirement or basic life control 101 to control their votes,,,,who is this clown kidding???.
“Now we have the closest cooperation with Israel than any time his history” What planet is he living on?
After engaging in class warfare for over three years he suddenly discovers the advantages of working in unity,,,right before the coming election.
Folks I am beginning to think I was wrong all along, It WILL take a greater audience applauding Washington insider manipulator to defeat the current dark prince of prevarication that currently resides in the Whitehouse. The art of decption and being deceived is what America has become. Bring on Newt Gingrich to kick his debate butt and pummel him in political discourse, like whoever just beat up and hockey sticked that hockey puck, face bruised John Kerry.

Beyond the fact that this statement is simply untrue when considering that investment income is the result of post-tax investment, the “loopholes and shelters” were created by politicians for the purpose of shelter their own income and the income of their contributors. The solution to this mess isn’t creating an even more complex tax code designed to punish performers. The solution is simplifying the tax code; the solution is a flat tax. Also, it should be paid in rather than withheld, with a small portion refunded.

So, yeah, does HE want to pay more taxes and does Congress want to pay more taxes on the outrageous salaries each of them receives? Huh! They could or create any loophole possible to absolve each of them from higher taxes! The fastest way to becoming a multimillionaire is to win a seat in Congress! The latest revelation of the individual wealth of congressmen was a shocker! So, let’s let all Pos pay a higher tax, like 50% so we can get back a part of the outrages sum of money we pay them to create poverty in the USA!

I can mentally picture ‘Captain Courageous’ atop our sinking ship of state! And like another ship captain in the news recently, this one is quite good at guiding our ship of state onto the rocks and then spends 99.9999% of his time flying off to campaign, figuratively abandoning ship and leaving Americans to fend for themselves, just as those thousands of cruise passengers had to!

Jimmy Carter as the worst President in American history is a product of the rightwing lie machine. Anyone with an understanding and sense of history recognizes that Carter, although in the lower third of most rankings, is far from the worst President. His brokering of the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty in and of itself keeps him ranked far above many other Presidents. Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush are considered far worse than Carter as are most of the Presidents in the decade or so prior to the Civil War. George W. Bush is continuing to descend down the list. He started his Presidency with a record surplus and created a record deficit. He allowed the 9/11 attacks to take place ignoring intelligence in the months and weeks preceeding the attacks which clearly pointed to something imminent being planned by Osama Bin Laden so he could vacation in Texas and cut brush. He started two wars with no clear objectives which drained U.S. financial and military resources weakening our economy. His tax policy drove our economy to the brink of a melt down. Jimmy Carter the worse? Come on Booby, get your head out of where the sun don’t shine so you can understand history and deal with realty. One reason rightwingers are a joke is because of then nonsensical, hyperbolic things they make up.

Jimmy Carter is the most accomplished builder of Human Habitrails for Humanity to house the Progressive Squirrels and Liberal Gerbil nut jobs who cannot manage to house and feed themselves, like Bob Barber who would like his hero Jimmy Carter give the American Taxpayer another financial haircut. Better a hyperbolic Conservative Right Winger than a Hyper Ventilating Left wing blow hard. Where you YOU in the Carter years???? i know where i was – i was in long gas lines on my day to purchase gas and often got to the pump only to find out it was empty! But, i personally witnessed fuel tankers emptying their load into the desert sands of California where it was unrecoverable, while the peanut-man told us we had an oil shortage, which in fact, was a lie – we had a GLUT and that’s what ended his bid for a second term. The lie was outed, but the prices went up and didn’t come back down and have been rising ever since. So where were YOU during that fiasco? People like you are partly responsible for the mess we’re in today because you support the marxist-socialist views of class warfare and liberality that has raised our national debt to absolutely outrageous and unsupportable level! What did Marxist-Socialist views contribute to Europe? Death, destruction and poverty! There is no such thing as a classless society because in every Communist/Socialist/Marxist society there most definitely are TWO classes: the HAVES and the HAVE-NOTS. The “haves” are those with the power to prevent the “have-nots” from ever rising to a standard of living that is decent and liveable. Study modern European history (1920s with the rise of Communist-Socialism to the present) and you will see that C/S/M is a no-win policy, but under FDR, Carter, and Obama, we are quickly goose-stepping to our destruction as a world-class powerful nation. i’m old – i remember the world of pre-socialist America! Obama can sound so convicing when spouting his baloney because he doesn’t actually know anything about taxes, economies, or finances.
His advisors tell him what they want to see happen, and his speech writers put it in inspirational language. But, when analysed, the words and expressions are meaningless, and what he intimates is either wrong, impossible, or blatantly untrue.

I could barely stand the schmoozing and adoration as the usurper made his way to the podium. The impression I got was the con has been in office for three years and he can hardly believe he’s pulling off the biggest scam in American history. He was exuberant that he has not been held accountable for all the travesties he’s foisted upon us and last night he was beaming at his ability to garner legions of the brainwashed and continue his wretched path to tyranny leaving poverty, misery and death in his wake.
I watched all of five minutes and changed the channel when he menitoned eliminating Bin Laden. The first thing that came to mind was his halting deportations of 215,000 El Salvadorians (MS-13 anyone?) many of which I’m sure will go on to commit innumerable crimes, some leading to the death of American citizens. Eliminate one terrorist on the other side of the globe and planting hundreds of thousands right here on American soil doesn’t strike me as an accomplishment.

Not to be judgmental but Jimmy Carter is now not the worse President that award goes to Obama, also If Jimmy Carter is such a big Christian and supports someone that is killing babies and doing all he can to make sure the Muslim’s have all they want but throwing Israel under the bus and not supporting the Christian Faith, I would not want to be in front of my Father in Heaven on Judgment Day.

At least a perfect God WILL judge the content of his heart as well as the content of his life! So, whether he ever made a true commitment to Christ is not ours to debate, but God’s to determine. i cannot judge him, but “by their fruit you shall know them,” and his fruit didn’t taste very Godly, to me, and so, i suppose that is an indictment of sorts in this world. i tremble to think how he will be judged at that last day, but then, i tremble to think how short i fall of the ideal i see in the Bible. Still, he and FDR are running neck and neck with Obama for the title of the most destructive presidents this nation has ever had. i know many think FDR was a hero, but he did many of the things Obama is doing now and people praised him for it because it was war time – they forgot that he was acting ex-constitution! So, there is now a triumverate of destructive presidents who will share in the blame for the continuing socialist philosophy rampant in America today.

Most of the comments on Obama/Jimmy’s speech were very good. Just so you all know I did not waste my time listening to this shill as I thought it wiser and better listening to my city’s high school basketball game and while doing that on the local radio station watching the Australian Open tennis matches. See, no waste of time knowing exactly what this no nothing has done nothing and will not do nothing for this country lies through his teeth! Now, who spent their time better last night? Me or you?

It is not hate rating for FDR! It is knowing what he did to help begin the downward spiral of our economy! So, let’s speak of knuckledraggers, ignorance, prejudice (ah, just love that term when it is used by liberals to distort the truth) and hate which is also used in the same manner and it seems that you Bob Barber are the knuckledragger, ignorant, prejudiced and hater because you made a statement that everyone else who did not agree with FDR was all of those. You notice he didn’t run on his record of the last 3 years. What else does he have?
He has been in either the senate or president now for 5 years so why didn’t he do anything about the tax loopholes. I would think 5 years is long enough. Also he had a democratic congress for two years and got just about anything he wanted, so why didn’t he do something about the job situation then. He was more worried about getting his health care bill passed which does absolutely nothing to create jobs, except to put a lot more IRS agents out there. The underprivileged in this country will vote for him again, but they’d better be careful, because someday we are going to be another Greece with no one to bail us out and then instead of some help the underprivileged will get nothing. He absolutely turns my stomach.

I did not watch the speech but heard he did not discuss the debt we are facing.
What I don’t understand is we got downgraded because we were getting a control on it and it is getting worse, why aren’t we downgraded again.

Jimmy has to be elated to finally rid himself of having the all time worse president title. If Barack gets a second term that means eight years of agony with him compaired to only four with Jimmy. I think Jimmy owes Barack big time for stepping up with his vast inexperience and pulling Jimmy out of last place. Isn’t that what friends are for.

I won’t write this little piece to compare Obama to Carter because, unfortunately, Obama is still in there compiling his record. But I can write a little about Carter. I was on active duty during Carter’s 4 oh so long years, and I saw what he did to the military. Navy ships were parked because there were not enough sailors to man them. Carter stopped funding for the B1 bomber. (Which later was restored by Reagan but because the cost had risen so much in the interim, we ended up with 100 instead of 300). He was weak and did nothing except whine and file a complaint with the ‘world court’, boy was that a laugh. He did authorize a failed attempt to do a rescue but did not send adequate equipment in to do the job, such as helicoptors. The Iranians laughed at us then, and still do, no thanks to every president we have had since. When it came out that our aerial surveillance had revealed a brigade of Russian troops in Cuba, (Secretly installed) which had one mission of using radar surveillance against America, Carter ASKED the Russian to leave. The Russians said…’No,’ so Jimmy Carter came on national TV and made a speech. In the speech he said that he was appointing a ‘Caribbean Task Force’ that would keep watch on Cuba and the Russians. (Incidentally, his task force never happened. He sent two officers to Florida who did basically nothing). Then the Russians said, Look how weak he is,’ and invaded Afghanistan, since they knew the USA would do nothing. (Reagan fixed that mess). Carter gave away the Panama Canal, and later Reagan had to send forces in to remove the leader Noriega, and we lost a few men in the process. Oh, by the way, we lost Iran because Carter refused to support the Shah of Iran, admittedly a dictator, but certainly better for the USA then what we got later. And then there was Carter’s economy, inflation way above 10%, and unemployment above 12 %. I also remember, being in the military, getting pay raises of like 1% during these times. THe sad thing is, we are still spending big bucks supporting this crackpot, while he goes on jaunts like to Palestine and talks to his Arab buddies and against Israel, while we must pay for the Secret Service personnel who have to protect him everywhere he goes.

Yeah, the schmoozing over Obama as he made his way to the podium as you mentioned. I told my wife, watch for an ugly woman in a green dress as she shoves her way forward to be seen with the president, and watch her try to get an autograph, cause she does it every time. And sure enough, there was Sheila Jackson, unethical, whacko Democrat Rep, who only gets re-elected cause she is black in a black district. She was wearing green, she got up next to Obama not only on his entrance, but on his exit. Funny thing was, I didn’t see him being super kissy kissy with her this time like he usually is.
