Mike McNamara

Mike McNamara is native Texan, born in Austin. After a stint in the Navy (1967-1974), he returned to the University of Texas and graduated with a Journalism degree. Mike works as a technical writer.
In 1977, Mike went to work in local city council politics and has worked in grassroots campaigning almost ever since. In that time, McNamara has worked on campaigns from city council to national president and served as precinct chair, election judge and ran for Republican county chair in Travis County.
In 2001, Mike was elected charter president of the Central Texas Republican Assembly, affiliated with the National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA). He now serves as president of the Texas Republican Assembly and was elected the South Central Vice President of the NFRA at the recent national convention in St. Louis.
Mike has attended all Republican conventions on precinct, district, and state level for the last 11 years and was a delegate to the 2004 national convention. In February 2007 the TXRA hosted the NFRA Board meeting in Austin and conducted the first-ever Texas Conservative Conference which Mike led as president of the Texas Republican Assembly.
Mike and his wife, Julia celebrated 14 years of marriage in April. They have 4 wonderful children and 7 outstanding grandchildren. They attend Our Lady's Maronite Catholic Church and are active in their neighborhood association. Mike is a current member of the NRA.
