Fred Girod Selected as New Senator Statesman Journal - January 29, 2008
County commissioners from three counties appointed State Rep. Fred Girod on Monday night to replace State Sen. Roger Beyer of Molalla.Beyer, a Republican, abruptly resigned on Jan. 18 after serving in the Legislature for more than 10 years.

Daily Tidings editor to be arraigned Tuesday Ashland Daily Tidings - 1/28/08
SALEM — Andrew Scot Bolsinger, the editor of the Ashland Daily Tidings, will be arraigned Tuesday in Salem on rape and sodomy charges.Bolsinger, also charged with five counts of sexual abuse in the second degree and custodial interference in the first degree, has been suspended from his job as editor at the Ashland Daily Tidings pending the outcome of his case

In what could be the beginning of a legal firestorm, three property owners sued Jackson County last week for more than $20 million, alleging their constitutional property rights under Measure 37 have been trampled.At the same time a coalition of almost 100 local landowners and attorneys is forming to challenge the county's decision to no longer honor waivers that were approved under the controversial property rights law.
