Marc Lucca
Oregon Editor
Marc Lucca came to Oregon as a student in 1997. While attending Portland's Multnomah Bible College, Marc worked part time as a deputy sheriff in a nearby county. "While I was politically active in persuading others to be conservative," Marc says, "I hadn't yet decided what was an appropriate level of political involvement for me. Because of this uncertainty, I avoided the formal party structure."
After graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in both Communication and Biblical Studies, Marc fulfilled a lifelong dream by trading in the city life for a slower pace in small town southern Oregon.
Not long after, Marc began to see the effects of bad government on rural America. "I saw the crushing weight of regulations, many of which were based on a devotion to ridiculous theories, and I saw the blow these were dealing to rural families. I just couldn't sit on the sidelines any longer and allow good people to be assaulted by bad government."
Since then, Marc has made up for lost time. He became a county precinct committee person, and was elected by his county Republican Party to be a delegate to the state central committee, and got involved in the Oregon Young Republicans.
In addition, Marc worked as a Legislative Assistant in the state House of Representatives, after which he moved north to be closer to his fiancee and the state capitol, as both are located in Salem.
Marc currently serves as a voting Delegate to the Oregon Republican Central Committee from Marion County as well as the State Chairman for the Oregon Young Republicans. He is the past Chairman of the Polk County Republican Party, and also worked for the Oregon Republican Party as a field director during the 2004 presidential campaign. In addition to his experience working on several campaigns, he has also served in the offices of several Republican legislators, specializing in policy, political strategy, and communications.
"It is vitally important that we develop an intelligent, effective, grass roots army that can influence the decisions made by our government," he says. "Too many people are being victimized by bad government, and their lives and livelihoods are being destroyed. Winston Churchill once said that 'an appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.' I hope more of us will decide to get involved and come alongside the scores of people being eaten alive by the 'crocodile' of runaway government. If we don't, then we will stand alone when it comes after us."
