Obama picked Carolina Panthers to win Super Bowl
WASHINGTON (UPI) — In a Super Bowl prediction revealed Monday, President Barack Obama chose the Carolina Panthers to win. They did not.
CBS The Morning news co-host Gayle King, in an interview last week with the president and Michelle Obama, handed him a card featuring the logos of the Panthers and the competing Denver Broncos, asked him to circle his preference and seal the card in an envelope, to be revealed Monday morning after the game.
“This is a lot of pressure,” Obama joked as he considered the card and made a choice. The interview was broadcast on CBS prior to the game.
The Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers on Sunday night, 24-10.
On CBS This Morning the envelope was opened; Obama had circled the Panthers logo, adding his signature beneath.
“He’s a student of the game,” host Charlie Rose commented, noting Obama was likely aware the Panthers were favored by most observers to win.
