Sebelius says she does not work for those calling for her resignation

By Associated Press

PHOENIX - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Thursday that officials are working "24-7" to improve the government's health insurance website after its clunky rollout.

Sebelius, the Obama administration's public point person on implementation of the new health care law, was in Phoenix amid calls for her resignation over the technical issues that have prevented people from signing up for coverage online.

"The majority of people calling for me to resign I would say are people who I don't work for and do not want this program to work in the first place," Sebelius said during a visit to the Wesley Health Center. "I have had frequent conversations with the president and I've admitted to him that my role is to get the program up and running and we will do just that."

Sebelius toured a Health and Human Services call center and spoke with "navigators" who have been trained to educate people about enrolling for coverage. She said consumers can enroll in-person, by filing paperwork or contacting a call center. The nation's 17 call centers are equipped to answer questions in 150 languages, she said.

While Sebelius was in Phoenix, contractors who helped build the HealthCare.gov website testified in Washington, D.C., in the first congressional hearing on the botched rollout. Representatives of CGI Federal and QSSI, which helped construct, told lawmakers insufficient testing was a factor.

Sebelius said nobody has been fired over the technical glitches and a lot of the problems were caused by a surge in demand.

"It's certainly not perfect but getting better by the day," the former Kansas governor said. "We now have 700,000 applications that have been submitted for health insurance. We intend to make sure those folks get the coverage they need."

She also said an "anonymous shopper" option was up and running for people who want to look at different plans and prices. Much of the website's traffic spike was attributed to people having to register accounts before being able to shop around.

Sebelius also noted that the open-enrollment was only three weeks into its 26-week stretch.

"In football terms, it's early in the first quarter," she said.

The headline told the truth in its first and fourth through sixth words only,

      “Sebelius… does not work”

Should have placed the period there and been done with it! The government does not work. In fact, it worked better for the American people when it was shutdown (if closing access to national parks and ocean coastlines counts as a government shutdown.

Instead of shutting down 17% of government, next time let’s shut down 83%. Then the American people will get a taste of what true freedom really is!

      ‘ptbaa’;

The PEOPLE only need a very few Cabinet level agencies.

      “Secretary of State
      Secretary of the Treasury
      Secretary of Defense
      Attorney General – ”

ALL others are/were created as machines to REPAY POLITICAL FAVORS for crony politicians and other financially well connected people that aided in getting corrupt people elected.

The Natuion NEEDS those 4 and none of the rest.

That should cover the “83%” you mentioned.

And just think of the tax cuts for the incredibly lower cost of government….

Sebelius claims “she does not work for those calling for her resignation”,,,,, and her total failure as an administrator which should be honorably followed by an honerable resignation shows that it is her “PARTY” that she deems as her employer and not the frustrated American people who hired her and Obama in haste,,,,and now repent at our leisure. There is definitely no HONOR among the Democart thieves whose ideology is based on the Tax theft of honerably earned wealth into the pockets of he who dishonorably stole it through the party of tax oppression. Hey Selelius, this is not sherwood forest and we are not in 14th century England where robbing from the productive to give to the poor is the political flavor of the day. THE PEOPLE today are rebellious to Obama and his incompetent Sebelius and all forms of incompetency that prevails in the lack of leadership of the political party of redistributing non-producers.

Just when did a nation of producers who thrived on success become the ecomonic and moral slaves of an ideology that can only offer incompetence and corrupt failure? Yes Mr. Einstein, doing the same thing over and over again with the same fearful leaders and expecting to get different results IS the definition of insanity.” Mitt Romney would have fired them all by nowl,,,I would never have hired them in the first place.

Obama stands up there at his “press conferences” and tells the most OUTRAGEOUS whoppers–things that everybody KNOWS are lies, and NOBODY ever challenges him and calls him out for the LIAR he is. Same for this Sibelius HAG and all the other Democrat LIARS in his administration.

This is the biggest problem with many of those in government these days .. they work for me/us/the people .. and most have forgotten that (or just don’t care anymore and think they can do whatever they want no matter what the people think.)

She does not work for the president .. but because she (and most others in the administration) think they do, they are loyal to him instead of being loyal and beholden to the American people. Until/unless this attitude changes, this country is doomed.

These people work for whoever has power over them and they would not be in the position as head of an agency if their politics did not line up with Obama’s, therefore We The People opposed to ObamaCare have NO control over these Obama minions. The expansion of the government by 16% due to the health care takeover is an expansion of the executive branch powers and a reduction in the powers of Congress. We see that in Congress’ inability to reduce spending even though the House controls the purse strings (per the Constitution but in reality, Obama and Harry Reid control the spending. We (conservatives) must get control of the Senate in 2014…it is critical.

Just like the majority of ‘teachers’ in the education system.

60% of all ‘teachers’ come from the BOTTOM 40% (D to F+ grade range), and it shows in the product they pump out.

Crusty, I must disagree with your disparaging comments about teachers. My wife has been a teacher for 27 years, and while it is true that some teachers are not the sharpest knife in the drawer, most of them are like razors! The main problem with the “products they pump out” is the system that our school districts are obliged to follow, like “No Child Left Behind,” and other disasters. Teachers are obliged to “teach the test” now instead of teaching real, useable knowledge. It’s a disgrace what the NEA and the Department of Education has foisted on our public education systems. I’d also like to know where you got your information about 60% of all teachers coming from the bottom 40%. Not likely. Like I said, most of the teachers in our schools here are as sharp as tacks, but simply hindered by the system under which they are forced to work.

I would appreciate it if you examined my position a bit more closely.

That 60% probably went to inner city and other ‘predominately minority’ areas, and your wife and co-workers are part of the remaining 40% that did graduate in the upper levels of their highschool classes.

40% of the teachers came from the upper 60% of their high school graduating class.

I was discussing ONLY the losers that chose teaching as an easy job…

And the output in the aforementioned areas proves it.

The last time I checked, Ms. Sebelius, you work for ME. My representatives are sent there to do what I tell them to do. You would think that since the guy who gave you this job was supposed to be a ‘Constitutional Scholar’ he could have explained the chain of command to you.

The hubris! The gall of that woman to such a statement. Unless she is being paid by some private source, she is the servant of WE THE PEOPLE, she is there to serve us, and she has been doing a very bad job of that considering the things she has uttered in the past. As with most liberals, she needs to get her priorities straight, not likely!

No, justinphilpot, this is what the arrogant “ruling class” of Dumbocrats think of EVERYBODY. From their lofty positions up there on Mount Olympus, we inferior beings look like so many ants scurrying around beneath their feet. I’m QUITE sure this is how the Great Eared One sees himself–all-seeing, all-knowing, compassionate and wise — NOT!

What they ARE is a bunch of brain-dead and delusional SOCIOPATHS, with greatly exaggerated notions of their own greatness. Too many “participation trophies” when they were growing up, I guess.

Yes in football terms it’s forth down and 99 yards to for a first down so you punt and it’s blocked in the end zone and recovered by the opposition TOUCHDOWN.
Also a coach that wanted to win the game would have made sure he had a winning team to put on the field. That team had neither a good coach or a good team and for sure a lousy quarterback.

If I do not demand the resignation of Kathleen Sebelius, who will!

If I do not demand the resignation of Kathleen Sebelius now, then when?

      DEMAND CRIMINAL CHARGES!

Her resignation would leave an open ended flood into cushy retirement packages.

It would be better for the nation if she ‘resigned’ into a long stay in prison in the general population.

NO “taxpayer funded” packages in any manner, and certainly NO HEALTHCARE at our expense.

She has already cost us too much in money, Liberties and FREEDOMS.

      Crusty,

I got a hot flash for you. If you get your wish and she does end up with a not so cushy retirement in general population at one of our cush Federal Correctional facilities like in Seagoville just outside of Dallas, TX, she WOULLD certainly have “Free” HEALTHCARE at our expense!

Seagoville for Sebelius, I like the ring of that !

“”The majority of people calling for me to resign I would say are people who I don’t work for……” It’s that arrogance that is the reason why this Administration lacks the so-called transparency and commitment to serving the country. I beg to differ with her. There are many citizens and their representatives who want her to resign. Who does she think she works for, only those who agree with her. Well, many of us don’t believe there is accountability for the failures of this Administration. She is accountable for the failings of the roll-out and is therefore the one who should resign or be fired.

I’m waiting for her to claim that all this criticism is because she’s a woman. That she’s a member of an oppressed group. That the good old boy’s network ( the straight caucasian male) is out to get her. You know, the so called war on women. Or should that be spelled womyn?

Madame Secretary is brilliantly stupid, and retarded!
She is the kind of minions that sorround the Top Idiot in the White House…

Richard Nixon’s insecurities made him spy on the Democrats. Obama’s insecurities are much bigger, reason why he not only spies on Americans but, in on all the World Countries. He can not distinguish between freinds or foes…

I suspect that God has very little to do with our lying, sociopathic Incompetent-In-Chief. Besides, Obama thinks he IS God, so how is the real one supposed to compete with Obama’s outsized delusions about his own greatness?
